Peter 'Ivanna Crashalot' Savage
I just wondered if there was anything different about the "11x7" thing on 3 bladed props as they put more load on the engine. I am getting a 52 four stroke for the pick a plane lysander Tony Nijhuis is designing and a lysander wouldn't look right without a three bladed prop. I have never used a prop with more than two blades so it is a first for me. Is there anything i need to know about it? Peter
Doug Ireland
Hi Peter, You are going to get a few people saying that three-bladed props are inefficient and go on about "dirty air" and other such stuff. But as a rule, if your enging uses say, a 14x6 two-bladed prop then you should drop a size for a three-blader. I've used a few and never had any problems with them.
