ARTF (Almost Ready to Forget) Gliders: TT E-Hawk vs. JP Pretty

Recommended Posts

Who's got time to make a glider from scratch these days? Not me! Why not I hear you cry! Well actually I didn't hear you cos the TV drowned you out. Aha, that's why I don't have time, too much TV. Seriously, our cars are faster, we're more affluent and pay for everything to be done. When did you last change your own oil on the car? We've got gadgets to do everything quicker but we ALL say " I don't have time to..." Sorry to wax philosphical there! What I really meant to say was, assuming we are going to spend a ton of our easy come money on an ARTF glider, should we get the Thunder Tiger E-Hawk 1400 (agreesive, butch name - good start) with its included motor, esc and prop, nice colours, V-Tail (back end marketing a-la Renault!) for £79! OR... what about the JP Pretty 1500 (whoops who thought of that one then.. also available in pink, comes with matching shoes!) which actually includes a b/less motor, ESC, prop, pushrods installed, virtually RTF, for £79!!! So, come on chaps, never mind the names, who's flown em both, reckons they are worth the dosh etc. etc. I need to know, because I mistreated my old but fine Precedent Electra Fly by flying it low and fast.... into a rock that some idiot left up the mountain! Whoops, even the NiCds were wrecked - one cell was SPLIT and hissing!! That plane cost me more in covering and glue than the modern crop cost total! And it must have taken a million hours of balsa bashing to get it finished. BUT I loved it (Aaaah) because I made it!
Right that's stirred the pot, who's digging in first??

Hi Phil, I have a TT hawk1400 and I love it. It flies like a dream. Nothing aggressive about the 1400 Phil, just wonderful flights everytime. Have had 50min + thermal flights with it and I cant imagine being without it now. I have brought another one to stash away for the future incase they go out of production. When she comes in to land its almost hypnotic, so steady and graceful. Ahhhhh got myself all worked up now, gotta take her out for a while.

I have an EHawk 1400 - not seen or flown a Pretty I'm afraid.

Mine has a small brushless and 3S LiPos. Very nice plane - handles well, even in wind, and looks good, well built and covered.

Watch out for the fuselage; mine has a lot of cracks in the gel coat now - possibly 'cos it's overpowered.
