Andy Ramsay
The GWS 109 is a good kit, as are most GWS kits. Try the Corsair, I think it is a superb little flyer.
nasa_steve
is it me or the angle that looks mighty like an FW190? the cowl looks radial and the tail looks 190 ish the only thing that definately looks 109 is the canopy nasa
Kelly
This is the 190 . Looks different to me? Austens 109 has no spinner yet Kelvin
nasa_steve
it must be the lighting in the photo as it really does'nt look like a 109 to me the cowl as i say looks very radial like the 190 but again its very dark in the photo one on the grass in daylight would probably do it more justice nasa
Andy Ramsay
Mine on the grass. I think it's a reasonably accurate kit. Haven't checked it out against a 3 view but to my eye unmistakably a 109. Think the missing 'to be fitted' spinner on austen's post doesn't help. I like the 190 above. Mine is a bit worse for the wear now.
Merlin spit
yeah sorry i forgot to put the spinner on i think that would have helped ,but yeah the photo is dark, i took it on my phone ,and as you can see in andys photo if painted corectly it looks very good. Andy Ramsay
Think your paint scheme looks fine and the model looks good. You're having FUN with it which is the bonus. The only problem with foam kits is that they get a bit tatty with hard usage. Look forward to seeing your Corsair
buster prop
I've just flown my 109, bought as an SG kit. The spinner GWS supply in the kit is a foam one and the idea is that you hollow it out to fit one of their small rubber push-on spinners. I tried this but when I ran the motor the spinner vibrated horribly and flew off across the room! What I did then was re-use an old spinner from a GWS P51, only the front bit, with cutouts for the prop blades. This worked ok and is about the same size as the foam one. Is this because I bought an SG kit? If so, the foam spinner is not intended to be fitted to a motor and spun at high rpm. Another thing, I use UHU POR to stick the model together and use it to stick velcro onto the foam, just smear on some POR let dry and sticky backed tape etc sticks really well. Anyone want an unused tube of GWS glue?
