Yorkman
I've found this old d/f unit which I bought back in the mid nineties-if I update it with a brushless motor is it going to perform adequately (I'm thinking of knocking up an all-foam Vought Corsair as a home for it)? Or has technology far exceeded it and I will be doomed to disappointment?
stuey
The minifan is still one of the best of its size now I understand. They come balanced now, although mine had an issue with the ali spinner on so I left it off. How much power do you want to make? Mine has about 650-700W on 4 cells with my Eflite motor. Yorkman
Hmmm, back to that sort of question! I'm looking at max weight 2lbs for a wing loading of 30 oz/sq ft...so-about 250W? Hoping to not go more than 3s lipo.
stuey
If you want about 300ish watts from a 3S pack you would be pulling a bit under 30 amps. Not sure what motor to use in a Minifan for that low a power output tbh. I'm sure someone else may have a suggestion? I am normally looking for more power!! scott cuppello
HET 3W motor would be ideal if you are looking for low power [3s] on that fan unit. Chances are, you may have to get another fan adapter from Puffin, the shaft of the 3W, and most of the motors in that class are 3.17mm. James Hindle
I had a lot of success with the HET 2W and the MF480 on 3S the setup drew about 45A above 400w
