1. Haha i maidened mine yesterday, flies great! Heres a pic for you Regarding the hatch, i cut 2 strips of velcro and glued them onto where the hatch mates with the body.  No chance of it coming off mid flight but easy to remove when on the ground!
2. sounds like your making good progress, reading this has inspired me to take my Mentor out today as it is feeling left out!
3. Pure lucky Guess Richard.  I live about 5 miles from each!
4. Ok you asked for it.  This is my 'half' of the lounge. If your wondeing what the mannequin is for i bought it off ebay when i was a bit tipsy as i wanted something a little less boring than a screw to hold my headphones (The desk has been used for my turntables up until recently) Its actually not a bad workstation once the planes have been removed, i have a drill, vice, heatgun and a soldering station under that lot! My 'half' of the lounge is also home to my mountain bikes and snowboard.  As you can see the lil banchee has seen better days and is gradually having items removed when needed. Here is my micro rc corner - not a lot there to be honest!  Blade MCX heli, silverlit plane and a tamiya TT-01 rc car. My housemates half of the lounge is more conventional with a sofa and a TV!  Edited By Fog Dart on 24/03/2009 12:05:42 Edited By Fog Dart on 24/03/2009 12:07:42 Edited By Fog Dart on 24/03/2009 12:09:30
5. I bet it still looks nice though, mine is held together with glass cloth and epoxy!
6. In my opinion you wont have a problem with the wings.
7. The wings fell off when my dad crashed it. If you meant for transportation then yes they are held on with 2 nylon bolts!
8. Ive got one and i love it.  Was easy enough to get going again after my dad stuffed it into the beach in Ryde on Christmas eve!
9. Ah thats a shame Stephan, which club did you join?  your obviously local to me then!
10. A couple of Videos for you all of the mentor in action.  Piloted by Dom at the Fleet and District Model Aero Club http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ly6OAcODujU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jc-tQ0_v6sA  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tmhuwzNxquw Enjoy
11. *UPDATE*  Quote from before Christmas... "I have been flyingsince september and so far have accumulated the following Multiplex Mentor - Learnt to fly and passed my 'A' with this beauty, well recommended and still comes out everytime i fly. JP Pretty Glider - Having flown full size for a few years i was keen to get my hands on this when a friend mentioned he'd sell it to me. I love this thing! Scratchbuilt low wing acrobatic model - Bought off ebay, our chairman flew it for me a couple of times to trim it out and check COG etc... but is now retired as the wing was slightly twisted when i received it so doesnt fly too well. It is still in one piece but the dodgy wing makes it difficult to fly with, when i have some more building experience under my belt i will build a new wing for this one as it looks great in the air  Cermark lil Banchee 3D - Ready to be put together today using the bits from the model above. Looking forward to learning some more skills on this one  Multiplex Fox chuckie - Great fun to chuck about when all my Lipos are used up! This will soon be converted to Electric. West Wings Swallow FF Glider - My first go at building which went well, just need to cover the wings and shes ready to go! E-Flite Blade MCX chopper - Awesome fun to fly in my lounge when the weather is cack, or the workshop when its quiet at work - very stable and would make a great xmas present as this was to myself! Next up will be a F4U Corsair id imagine  I have been bitten by the bug but you can probably tell that already! " Now i have added to these with a Parkzone Corsair, Phase 3 F16 EDF and a Ms Composits Swift II flying wing - all airworthy and ready to fly I also have a vintage viking models Facctor glider that i picked up cheap from my club auction - this will be getting built soon!
12. ive got one and i love it!
13. Make sure you tape the over the servo wires on the wings too, i made a small recess for the connectors so the tape fitted flush with the wings surface.
14. Hmm for some reasons the photos arent showing! They can be seen in this here thread instead..... http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=999652 ta
15. Hi i hope someone here can help me. At our club auction a short while ago i picked up a Facctor glider that is untouched in its box. Having tried to find out something about this model online it appears to be not very well exposed. I do know that the molds recently changed hands and are still available which may come in handy oneday! Does anyone have any further info on this glider? A pic of one that is built would be amazing. Here are some pics..... 16. Rare earth magnets (see ebay) are perfect for these canopies.  Very small and very strong.
17. I can't help thinking that a foam model trainer such as the Mentor might have survived the first impact! This was the first thing i thought of when i read your first post.  Having bought a mentor for my first plane the only damage it has ever endured is a snapped rudder as it nosed over on landing.  Had it been balsa it would have sat on my bench for months doing my head in but the mentor was ready to go again after i'd glued the rudder back on - flies good as new.  There are a few mentors in our club, at least three of us have them and passed our 'A's with them, then there is Dom the nutcase who doesnt go home content unless hes broken something - his has been fixed more times than my old vw camper van and still flies perfectly, plenty of vids on youtube! Aerobatics are a pleasure too when your up to it. P.s - I dont work for Multiplex haha
18. Hi in August of this year i purchased from Hobbycity a MAX E6 Digital Lipo Charger. The charger is now dud and will not power up with the recommended power supply, nor my field battery. It just wont turn on. I went onto hobbycity website just now to see about returning it and it says that lipo chargers only carry a 30 day warranty. Is this legal? In my opinion it should last more than 4 months, even if it was getting heavy use.
19. The MCX is unbelieveably easy to fly, i have no previous heli experience too. You wont regret it.
20. I went to Slough Radio Control Models a couple of weeks ago knowing they had a Spektrum AR500 Rx in stock. Now in their magazine adverts it says they will match any nationally advertised price. When i got there they refused to match robotbirds price (about £6-7 cheaper) as apparently they are "not a proper shop" Surely robotbirds website constitutes global advertising is it not?! Anyway as id travelled some distance i bit the bullet, i should have walked out on principal. So it seems there ad is there to lure you in. I certainly wont be using them again thats for sure. I remember an old saying somewhere along the lines of "if you receive good service you keep it to yourself, but if its sloppy you cant help but moan about it" Cant be good for business im sure.
21. I bought one of them the other day too, Its going in my lil Banchee tonight!
22. Perhaps but re-covering isnt my strong point! Theres a guy in our club who was trying to learn to fly with IC but went through a few models before seeing my mentor fly. He then went on to buy one and passed his 'A' 2 weeks later. Go for it.
