  1. Well i accidently bought a blade mcx which has proved a hit with the lads at work! I may have purchased a Cermark lil Banchee when i was drunk to (it turned up a couple of days ago!) so im looking forward to putting that together later as im away for christmas.
  2. cheers that matches my thoughts, will head down there for about 9
  3. Im goin gdown tomorrow.  What time does it open?  The website is very informative but i cant see the opening times mentioned anywhere!
  4. Absolutely, first priority is join BMFA then a club.  I had my first flight on Sunday with my mentor, coached by a guy from my local club that i joined last week.  I did steady circuits and even landed it myself but im guessing that without this tuition it would have ended with a broken plane (Fixable but broken) as it happens it went back in my car in the same condition that it left it in.  The way i see it, if i go it alone and crash thats costing me money that could have been prevented - ok joining the club wasnt free but then neither is losing a 'flyaway' model if you cant find it again. Work out how much its cost you just to get the minimag in the air as thats what it would cost to start again, if my mentor is anything to go by then the club joining fee was negligable and lasts a full 12 months (Including BMFA membership)  Also my club is very sociable, and in the six weeks it took me from deciding to buy my first plane to actually having one ready to fly i spent many a day at the strip just talking to people and learning stuff, as well as seeing some great flying in the process.  I cant recommend joining a club enough. Good luck with it all
  5. my multiplex mentor got maidened today, 2 flights and  no crashes - even did one landing myself
  6. yup i would for one.........
  7. 15 minute drive for me to the local club patch and there is a council owned playing field nearby which is popular and suitable for the smaller stuff
  8. Im sure most of what Andy has blogged here wouldnt go amiss in your mag.  Just what you need when your starting out i reckon (like me) as its a real insight into what to expect, the highs and the lows.  My personal effort to get airbourne is no further ahead than it was 3 weeks ago due to lack of funds and not wanting to buy cheap crap just to get in the air, but hey pay-day is just around the corner which should cover the 2.4 setup and drivetrain, then i am ready (After joining bmfa) Keep up the good work fella, a well deserved pat on the back
  9. Glad your ok.  Having sat on a wasp before on a bus i can recommend avoiding that too as its not much fun!
  10. I have seen one of these flying a few times - awesome. simple as that.
  11. typically i drove to my local flying site after work today only for the heavens to open as soon as i opened the car door.  Needless to say i was soon back on the M3 !

  15. Great reading stuff like this, i have last week bought myself a multiplex mentor to learn with, just need the radio and motor and shes up!  Visiting my local flying site in fleet has been very helpful as the guys there give great advice and dont want to see me wasting my money buying the wrong kit.  One of the guys called Ray has been kind enough to let me have a go at some circuits on his JP pretty glider and multiplex space scooter and im well and truly bitten by the bug thanks Ray if your reading.  I will keep an eye on your blog as it seems you are a a couple of months or so ahead of me progress wise and gives me an insight into what i can expect.
  16. Not the first time ive heard problems with multiplex and spares..  Its a shame really as they are great products - £10 a shot for some spares would be a nice little earner for them!
  17. I decided a month ago that i was going to buy an electric RC plane as a complete beginner.  Having visited my local flying club on a few occasions i have taken on board a wealth of experience.  Due to the sheer amount of kits available i had no clue where to start.  Having asked around, the same model kept on cropping up, the 'Multiplex Mentor'  Since then i have purchased one of these for £79.99 and have built it, just awaiting the arrival of some radio gear before its maiden flight.  One thing that makes me think that i have made the right choice is the number of people offering to test-fly it for me, they cant stop singing its praises.
