  1. Hi Andy,   I think your right 3/16 movment each way is not very much,  just a thought, check your C of G, because even with no elevator  when the plane reaches flying speed it should lift off the ground (using the wing).   let hope some other readers can come up with some ideas.   Glenn
  2. i never understand batteries........ i must stop being negative !
  3. ready for take off flys a treat low pass for the camara greaser of a landing Edited By Glenn Woodford on 17/06/2009 00:11:42
  4. If your interested you can click on part in the left hand column where it says '46 photos' and that will take you to all my build photos.....if you havent already, might help a bit.   Ps. it has not flown yet, and i am building another onethe same!
  5. Hi Rob,   The jig was made up from bits in the reduced bin at B&Q, I think it pays to try and keep the model as straight as possible.   You could use laminations for the tail it just needs a fair bit of water and a hot air gun to get it to go round the curve. do make sure the tailplane seating is correct, use the ply center spine as a guide.   The model is finished, just waiting for the warmer weather to give it a spray with two part tufcote to fuel proof and matt down the decals.
  6. Hi Rob and Doug,   I glued mine by butting them up to the sheeting at the front so they are flush ( a few angles to cut to get a good fit), hope this helps.   Glenn
  7. taking the photo is harder than building the plane!
  8. dont panic when on finals........ok panic now!
  9. Hi Doug,   Go to page 7 of this thread and have a look at Charles Forsyth entry on retracts, click on the blue wording and the link will take you the web site.    I now the thread is 9 pages long but most of the info you need is there... if it not im sure someone will find an answer for you.   Good luck.
  10. Hello Bryan,   Welcome aboard , as you have already found there are lots of different ways of doing things, none of them right or wrong...its a case of what works for you.   I stick the leading and trailing edges then sand, just be careful not to catch the ribs.   the elevator ribs are done by cutting 3mm strip, sticking then sanding (with the grain or they snap off ) and dont forget to add a block both sides for the elevator horn and screws .   If you have seen the pics then you have read the text so far... thats good.   Keep us updated with photos of your progress, i for one am interested in how it is going.   Good luck.  Glenn
  11. Ok i have just found the thread for the Typhoon, the plan got printed 10% smaller than it should have.
  12. Hi Bill,   You are correct that should read 6x3 mm.   On a different tack altogether, has anyone built tony's Hawker Typhoon (2007)? i have been told there was a problem with the free plan! is this true?
  13. High toni,    Its 45mm thats to the last rib not the wing tip. hope thats of help to you.   Glenn
  14. HI BIll,   It's looking good, Glad i was of some help, there is never enough room in the magazine write ups to tell you everything.  you might also want to think about how you will fix the tailwheel assembly?..just a thought while its still open and accessible.    Nice to see it looks the same as mine at that stage... very reassuring. good luck.   Glenn
  15. Hello Bill,     You must have overcome your F1 problem. Glad to say it is not a race, 75% of the fun is in the build with satisfaction from working out how it all goes together. if it helps make a paper template (slightly smaller) so the cockpit is symetrical, you can always make it bigger later. one more tip, sort out the control rods before you do all the stringers (hope im not to late with that one), plenty of water on the outside will make the balsa swell and bend then is lots of rubber bands followed by wood glue and pins, sorry if i am stating the obvious but some might find it useful.  good luck.   Glenn
  16.      The final balance with the batteries shows they need to be behind the engine bulkhead, with the RCV91 engine no lead was required.  last job is to spray the whole plane with the two part tufcote system making the plane fuel proof and the decals matt like the rest of the aircraft.
