  1. Hi all, today took the Riot out, it has has two flights from new, even bought a couple of extra batteries for it as it flew so nice, connected everything up ( even made the effort and connected the tip LED'S) so i was really fed up when after connecting everything up one of the ailerons did not work, checked everything, damn servo had just given up, no warning, no knocks, no bad landings just stopped working . Is it worth sending the servo to Century and asking for a replacement ? Or do you think it will be easier in the long run to just fit another servo? I would have thought that asking two flights from something that cost £139.00 should last longer than two flights, any thoughts ? Regards Chris C. P.S. it is a brilliant aeroplane, just seems to be let down by very cheap servo's.
  2. Just as it should be, lovely. We fly minitures, so no it will not sound like a 27 ltr engine, but then it is not supposed to, it is a model engine in a model aeroplane, personally, i would love one !!! Thank you for sharing Regards Chris C.
  3. Posted by CARPERFECT on 03/09/2012 21:23:34: Got same problem with mine. which charger have you got ? mine has a part No P-FBC30D/4.My Tx led has stopped working.Upon checking the output voltage the Tx is 14.3v and the Rx is 14.6v Hi, you will find that the voltage straight off the charger is about the same for the Tx output and the Rx output, as the charger needs to "see" a load, also have you noticed that the + ive and - ive are backwards when not connected to anything ie just the plug, on the voltmeter? this is normal . Put a bulb or a small load across the lead and re-check the voltage and polarity and you will see it is all back to normal. Regards Chris C.
  4. Saito .56, it will last forever and the build quality is brilliant, i have OS engines and the Saito's are miles better. Regards Chris C
  5. Brilliant !!! Thank you, i will have to build three as i have just bought a Cox .049 with a throttle !!!!! Thank you again, Chris.
  6. Hi all, will the mini Tyro fly on a Cox .049? i am building one and using a diesel, and i thought i would build my son a Mini Tyro but the only small engine i have is a Cox .049. Thank you, Regards Chris.
  7. hehehe, Hi Alan, no not lonely or boring, i work as a propulsion engineer for the MoD, my own workshop, when i get a spare hour lunchtimes, etc, i build. Regards Chris C
  8. Hi all, what brilliant service, In may my wife bought me a Sig cub, a proper builders kit, last week i took it to work to start the build to find that the plans were missing, everything else ok, just the plans missing. I called SMC and explained that i had just opened the box as i build at work and the plan was missing, "No probs" says the guy on the 'phone, sorry, we will send you one out as soon as we get it" . Plan arrived yesterday, no questions no hassle just as it should be, well done and thank you Sussex Models. Regards Chris C.
  9. Hi Allan, totally agree, years ago i flew a Flair Cub using just throttle and rudder for the whole flight, Landing was a bit fast but totally safe. Makes you wonder why we bother with all the other controls !!!!!!!!! Regards Chris C
  10. Hi all, we don't want electric glider plans, just a nice simple hand launch glider to play with, no fancy electrics, no hi-start needed, just a good old fashioned build and fly glider of about 60" span. Regards Chris C
  11. Hi D W, I use castor straight fuel in my aeroplanes and my son's r/c cars, they all seem to work well on it. A bit messy but they run well and smell just lovely !!!!! Regards Chris C.
  12. Hi all, as above, anyone know if the Wots Wot will be done in ARTF ? Regards Chris C
  13. Hi all, my best bargain was three ( 3) O/S .40 four strokes, two run once the other brand new for £ 50.00 !!! Regards Chris C.
  14. Hi all, anyone any clue as to where i can get a Galaxy kit from? i have literally just recieved my Mystic but the domino was oos. Thanks in advance Chris.
  15. Hi all, i wonder if anyone could tell me where the c of g is on a Robbe Flex, i have just been given one and after a very good clean ( good old Fairy Power Spray ) it looks really good but i have no instructions. Thank you in advance Chris C
  16. Hi all, i agree that the plastic Yammy was a bad heavy aircraft but, the wooden Yammy was a great aeroplane not only to build but the flying was brilliant, the best trainer . Regards Chris. P.S. the lo-Boy Turbo was brilliant, i wish someone would re-kit it.
  17. Hi all. Looking forward to the new magazine i just hope that none of the bad spelling mistakes will be in the new one !! They were terrible, every article had a bad error. On a slightly different tack, i wonder how many people are leaving the hobby due to 2.4 lock - out issues, ARTF, no engine tests, no building features ( apart from very expensive model featured articles) . I think what we need is a magazine that caters for the older modeller who has the skills to build and fly rather that just assemble a RTF model, Where is the skill in adding some ( supplied ) glue to a bit of foam them connecting up a ( supplied ) battery, then trying to compare it to another foam thingy that is exactly the same ? We need to revive the skills needed to build a flying model. ARTF will be the death of modelling, it will last a few years then the hobby will die due to boredom and nothing new coming along, established skilled modellers will still build and fly but there will be very few new modellers, just toy flyers. Blimey, i have gone on a bit, sorry Regards Chris.
  18. Hi all, anyone know where i can get Taylor plugs with idle bar from ? Our local model shop does not stock them anymore and sussex don't keep them, neither does Galaxy? Thanks in advance Chris.
  19. Hi Colin, i fly the JP version Piper Cub, 68" span, with a Saito .40 fitted with a 11 x 6 JFX prop. It is a perfect match for the airframe, the only thing to remember is the Cub is not a trainer, ie it has to be flown, but, it is a brilliant aeroplane. I get approx 40 minutes flying time with the cub per ( standard ) tank. Looking at the specs for the Saito .40 and .45 the .40 is only very slightly down on power compared to the .45 so to answer your question the long way round !!!!! Yep the .45 will be fine, try it and let us know? Regards Chris.
  20. Hi Jerm, mine flew with a .40 Irvine, brilliant. The model was designed for either PSS or IC power, they are brilliant, fly really well i wonder if PB models will bring the EE Lightning out again ? A lot of people just removed the prop and flew them off the slope in a strong wind, i was never brave enough !!! Hope this helps a bit Regards Chris.
  21. Its still on BBC, as well as sky. Regards Chris.
  22. Good mag again, what annoyed me was the article on the guy who mends gliders, only a while ago we could not get hold of him, he had a free mention in the mag with the " if you need him you will find him " tag, now that he is selling goods all of a sudden we are allowed info on how to contact him ! Apart from that, yep another good read. Regards Chris C
  23. 57 1/2 inches by 1/4 Rutlands do the blades and belts Regards Chris
  24. P.S. What a shame, if paul had asked, i would have told him how to set up an engine to run ! Someone somewhere could have used parts from the engine. Regards Chris.
  25. Hi all, no matter what make the engines are, there will be problems. Just last season i had to return two Super Custom .52 four strokes because they would not run properly, i remember owning my first OS engine and having problems with the chrome lifting off the liner, i also have a few MDS engines that run very well, still in use. I have an Irvine .46 Ducted Fan engine that is the best buy ever, just goes to show, pays yer money !!!!! Regards Chris.
