  1. I got my nylocs in through the sides with long nose pliers fidly but can be done, flew nice.
  2. My Bird Dog fly's spot on Saito FA 72 fourstroke, balanced as the instructions say and all controls set up as the instructions, small amount of lead up front but not much , ideal trainer in my opinion, been flying for well over 35 years, the Saito has plenty of power and she looks and fly's very scale. Airframe is also built well, infact when I look at some of the newer artfs I think it's stronger than most. It's also up for sale ready to fly if any body is interested, selling as it's my last nitro plane all my others are now petrol.
  3. I have not long sold mine but I remember thinking the same thing when I built it, if I remember correctly I had washers and nylock nuts on the bolts you mention, you have to remove the covering at the side with a soldering iron, you should be able to feel a small hole on the side of the fuz next to the bolt location. I will try and find a picture for you later, I replaced all the flying wires and conections with quality Mulitiplex items as the kit items were not good. Mine was powered with a Mintor 33 petrol engine and was spot on. Hope this is of some help.
  4. Hi , Kevin the Bird Dog flew a treat, I did some work on it but mainly cosmetic, moved the throttle servo back into the cockpit , put a 6v batt pack in for the rec as it is on 2.4ghz, took the lead off the cowling and melted down a nice weight and bolted it to the fire wall. The Saito 72 flew it perfect with power to spare, I had to change the wheels as they were a little small and on landing the under carraige was acting as a brake, I will try and get some pictures next time it goes out. Cheers
  5. Hello again, I think I have solved the servo problem, power loss as I was only using a 6v setup battery on the bench, plugged an SM sevice dual battery box into the retracts and used another battey just for retracts and no more servo problems.   While I am on here what battery setup do you guys use with a Spectrum sytem, most of my other aircraft except for the Hanger 9 Taylorcraft are using HV servos and 7.4v 2s 4800mah lipo for the rec and I just wondered if there is a better way of doing things.   Cheers Tim. 6. Hello and thanks for the quick response, Sorry Chris I didn't notice I had put it in the wrong place as you say it would be better in the DX8 thread. Flaps are seperate flaps. I have just done what you suggested Chris and all functions are working correct as you say, the only problem is my retract servos are still doing there own thing! first the left servo moves up and down a few times then after a few seconds the other moves by its self. Aircraft is a BH Seafury 26cc petrol, DX8 radio, AR8000 rec, 6 X HV S3051 futaba servos, 2 X HS-75BB retract servos for gear all ran on 6v. I am wondering if the Hitec servos are not compatable with the Futaba / Spectrum combination and may be I should get a pair of HV Spectrum retracts and run all gear on 7.4v 2s lipo for rec? Thanks again for the help. Regards Tim.   Edited By Tim bennett on 19/10/2013 21:22:47 Edited By Tim bennett on 19/10/2013 21:24:55
  7. Help please, I have about had it with my new DX8, I am truing to set the radio up for dual ailerons, dual elevators, flaps and retracts, if I use the wing setup screen it doesn't work because it disables the retract switch so I am using the flapperon wing and mixing the channels, problem now is the two retract servos are doing strange things all by themselves when I stir the sticks. I had a similar issue when I was trying to set up my BH Storch with the AR8000, sorted that by going back to an AR7000 but that was using my JR9 X and module and I think it was due to a comparability issue, now I am running the DX8 and AR8000 and it is fine but cannot set up any aircraft with flaps , retracts, dual ailerons and elevators. Any help would be appreciated as I am loosing my faith in the Spectrum range and feel like giving up this hobby after 40 years.
  8. I will miss that shop, had more than 8 aircraft off of them plus radio, engines and all sorts of bits in the couple of years that I knew of them, very nice people to deal with if I have the choice I will always buy from a shop even if I have to drive 100 miles to pick up what I want, hate the internet for any shopping faceless. I have just paid £40 over what I could have paid on the internet for a DX8 but do not care as I know the local shop and if I have a problem they will sort it without any hassle. Very sad day.
