  1. Hello Glynn What do you use to seal wing veneer prior to using a water based resin?
  2. They are the TOP of my list for both service and excellent products
  3. £2.50 already in the sweetie jar with further progress soon in saving up for the Wots Wot
  4. Yes understand that the ARTF Wots Wot was at the show . I did see the Ripmax announcement (on this forum) . Thats very much on my shopping list.
  5. Thanks for words of encouragement . I have got myself motivated to carry on my RPG build . Daft of me, I didn't think to look up Youtube earlier so will look forward tonight to some square eyes times and potential retail therapy!
  6. There seems to be very little on the net of new products announced at Nuremberg this year . Did the RCME visit this year? Details of any goodies would be great (feeling very glum - as having looked out of window , I may decide to retire to bed until its dry and outside temp is in double digits!)
  7. Hello Rich Many thanks for info and excellent video. Looking forward to getting mine finished and flying (when weather gets better!)
  8. Hello Tim, Just started the build on V2. . Thank you for your excellent tips. I also like the idea of getting rotor blades from AJ Blades. My only concern is that on the V2 the blade width is approx 2cm wider than on the V1 ie 70mm compared to V1's 50mm (which I think are similar to the size of blades used on the "Panther". Point taken re extra tail bits and U/C. Id be interested to know if anyone has flown the RPG V2 with the blades from AJ as it would save a bit of time .
  9. Hoping for some help. I have just bought the RPG Mk2 to build . Comparing this to the Mk1 I have noticed a few changes .Can anyone explain why the blade chord is wider than the one for the Mk1. (My earlier attempt with the MK1 was not a success and I put this down to "pilot error!"
  10. Hello, I have the Gangster with the motor from Giant Shark (as per Simon B's link) . Note the one I use is the 790KV with a 4s set up and 12X6 APC E prop or 14X7 on 3s. For your info David Millers suggestion is very relevant. I weighed up my model inc battery (4500Mah) and then worked out power train required. I used 120W per lb and that seems fine for the type of model/style of flying. I get about 8 mins flying time with approx 30% retained in the cells. Best of luck
  11. Looks a lot better than my earlier efforts. Await pictures of finished model (and first flight- if blessed with decent weather) Well done!
  12. From my own experience in doing business out in that particular part of the far "East" its pretty difficult to enforce copyright and their commercial law procedure is both costly and pretty difficult to enforce . As various major manufacturers have found to their cost. (been there , got the T-shirt) I'm surprised at the some of the comments of the Ripmax Wot 4 ARTF (non E) . This is an amazing model for its price! Mine has now carried out over 600 flights (does look very tatty now ) and has had the pleasure of the odd ding (several). I would not hesitate in buying another . Most of our club "first time" modellers have graduated to the ARTF or the foamie version.
  13. Im pretty certain I have a copy somewhere. I will have a look when I get back home over the weekend.
  14. Thank you Percy I'm hoping to get this started as my winter project. The plans on the wings are in good condition . Looks like a little more research is needed for the fuselage.
  15. This is the 88" wing span model if anyone can help
  16. Hello Gary , Many thanks for your response. The one I have is more like 1:4.5 . The only bit I can make out on the fuselage plan shows rec IC 2 stroke as 10 -20cc . I didn't realise that these went back into early 70's . My kit was in part chewed box and bin liner! Wood is in excellent condition. Hopefully the info on the link will give me a starting point. I will investigate when I get home tonight.
  17. I have obtained a "Pilot" Tiger Moth kit approx 1/4 scale. The plan for the fuselage seems to have had some water damage /faded to the point that its not useable. In addition there are no build instructions. I understand that these kits were made some time in the 80's - so a rather long shot in hoping that someone has a plan/build notes that I could borrow in order to make a copy.
  18. Very sad to loose such an inspiring man. A real character. He helped me with my O'level project (designing and building Autogyro's some 35 years ago) . I had the pleasure of going up to his place a number of times .On one occasion he gave me my own private airshow with his Microlight . He was an amazing engineer. I also remember his miniature Colt 1911 that he had made with ammo (working!) I will dig up some photos that I took at the time. Rest in peace Ken .
  19. Hello Tim, Many thanks for your comment and picture. What running gear do you have in the model (I'm running the E-flite power 60 with an 80A esc - also e-flite and 6 S lipo). If yours has been converted , have you added any extra cooling?
  20. Has anyone electrified one of these? I'm having cooling issues with the battery.and would be interested to see what others have done .
  21. Hello Tim, The revised rear wheel looks so much better . I'll be doing same as you have. Many thanks on that. I've sent you a PM - appreciate your help if you've had similar issue. I'm fitting the E-flite 60 into mine so will see how that performs. (Steve ignore my message - I will PM Tim) Shame about the lack of pilot in the kit!
  22. My ARTF electric converted Acrowot has just completed its 300th flight (yesterday) . Still going very strong (some minor mishaps) . I have found it to be pretty sturdy. My only gripe has been the covering especially at the wing tips where its started to delaminate. Debating whether to just keep using the iron and some balsa loc or recover next winter. The undercarriage has not been a problem. I replaced the U/C bolts with some nylon wing bolts and these work fine (fingers crossed!) I binned the rods/clevises that came with it however I have retained the push/pull system on the rudder and this works very well. This aircraft is my favourite hack! Its pretty much as good as my built up versions! Once again well done Mr Foss and Ripmax. Brilliant value at £108 at one of the shows.
