    NEVER use 'friends & family' in either direction unless it's someone you know and trust. A stranger asking you to do so is an instant red flag. Sounds as if you have name, address, and presumably you know who the courier was. Plenty there for legal action.     Thanks for the info. It looks to be a nice kit. There used to be so many good model suppliers... I won't be building this - it'll be up on Ebay this evening.

    Anyone know anything about the above company? A 60" Slingsby Firefly kit has come my way - looks to be from around the 1980s - and the only clue as to the manufacturer is in the build notes which mention South Yorkshire Model Supplies. Edited By jonryan on 11/01/2020 16:18:03

    Kits can vary massively in value. for some collectors, they never intend to build them, but want them as close to pristine as possible. Damaging a box can greatly reduce the value. They're a bit like toy cars in that way. Complete, unstarted kits in clean boxes tend to fetch the best prices, and as others have said, a list & photos would help. If he had kits, he may have engines as well. Diesels can be valuable, glow motors less so. Again, perfect condition in clean boxes are best. Old RC equipment tends to go cheap, but could well rise over the next few years. Magazines rarely fetch much, but catalogues can. Dealers (me!) may offer a price for a complete collection, but of course we want to make a profit so won't offer as much as a private buyer. It depends if you need fast money, or are willing to wait for a better price. Good luck!

    I have a part-built Silhouette if anyone is after one. Not fully checked parts against the build booklet yet, but most of it is certainly there. Wings have been joined so won't be able to post; I'm based in Glastonbury and am regularly in Liverpool. No idea about price, so offers around, oooh let's say £10,000, but willing to haggle.

    Thanks for the info, good people. I've only even had problems sending engines via GSP, so won't use it for that again. But for other stuff it's excellent for sellers. My biggest gripe is the way they confiscate items they deem 'dangerous'. They won't even say what they do with confiscated goods. I had to threaten them with legal action to get back a nice Frog 2.49.

    I don't use GSP for engines now. I'm trying to find out if there are indeed rules against sending used engines abroad as I don't want to risk losing another one!

    Anyone know the rules on this? I sold an old engine to a bloke in Norway via Ebay's Global Shipping Programme, and it went through with no problem. Then he bought another, and this time Ebay classed it as 'dangerous', and refused to ship it. (They also refused to return it to me at first, though I got it back after a helluva fight). Obviously new engines are shipped all over the planet without problem, but what are the restrictions on used? The one I nearly lost was 50 years old, had no tank, and just a touch of light oil for lubrication. You couldn't have set it on fire with a flame thrower.

    One of these turned up in a batch of kits. I've never seen one before. It's a 73" contest spec. A2, which isn't my thing, so I'll be selling it on. Thing is, I have no idea of what it may fetch. Anyone have any thoughts before I slap it on Ebay and see what happens?

    *shrug*. I send a RX to Germany a short time ago - I'd knocked off the antenna - they replaced it free of charge within about ten days. Outstanding service. My Spektrum gear has always performed flawlessly. Sure prices have risen. The prices of all imports are going to rise by at least 25% because the £ is now worth around 25% less against the € than last year (hmm. Why would that be?). I think you're suffering from confirmation bias.
