Well I thought they were, I just had a look in in the two kits I have and no tanks and no wheels,
-
There the standard wheels that came in the kit, I also thought the old kit came with a black SLEC tank
-
Yellow one was my second Stampe wings clapped exiting a loop my son William was flying it. How the years have passed, think he was around 8 years old when that happened, It was with my new Laser 150 only a few flights old I had to purchase a new carb I kept a few bits dunno why but they are good for reference points
-
If only they had done the wire differently
-
Where there’s a wheel there’s a tyre well something like that
-

Ultimately I do take on board Jon’s views on the height and location of the tank, And would agree with him, there’s somewhere else better suited for this debate than this forum painful part is to overcome the how and do I recently put on some pics of My mates Stampe that has sprung undercarriage fitted, It uses gas struts rather than springs
-
Dunno where the bit I just typed went It may duplicate
-
Yeah been in that Field twice wishing I had fitted a Magneto kill switch to my green and silver Stampe when the throttle servo packed up The engine fell off on another and refused to quit until it was out of fuel Half a hour later and a slot in the cowl it landed Nyloc nuts now fitted
-
Jon did you make a access hatch in the bottom of the Fuz recently I’ve been in charge at home of Washing and squashing the plastic bottles for the bin, In a moment of madness I wonder if I can deform a tank with hot water post it through a smaller hole and reverse the proses hold the replies until I’ve got my ear defenders and dark glasses on Bit of laziness and a bit of wanting to get it in the air quick also Some stupid sentimental Reason for not breaking out the disc cutter and hammer Sprung undercarriage of the flair variety has been chatted about but I’ve only seen pictures and played with the Turbulent type ive got some measurements and drawings for them
-
It’s a shame the undercarriage wasn’t bolted to the outside of the woodwork
-
Thanks for both your inputs
-
I’ll have to rework the undercarriage wire
-
Many thanks Jon that will save me time going back through the pages
-
It would indeed But more of nostalgia for one of my now past chums who was a Promoter of Precedent plane kits and Laser Engines I still hear his voice when I’m doing things
-
Poss answered my own question the penny has dropped the OS engines I fitted all have the carb nearer the crank centre line
-
Yes that’s the plane I would like fourstroke petrol I’ve got a NGH30 and a NGH38,the NGH 38 Ive had from new and it’s been in a few of my planes it’s currently fitted in my SE5A, I did have the Laser 180 in the SE5A for a short time,

Back in the the day I would not have given the tank height any consideration, And this Issue has been raised on this forum, (I haven’t had the luxury of knowledge being handed down to me from my dad or a uncle) I did have a Weston plane with one of the Magnum West fettled motors, all came to me second hand And that was a perfect example of poor tank installation The motor was fitted inverted and the tank was placed in what I would call a normal to high two stroke location The result was it wasn’t happy flying the right way up and inverted the engine would almost quit, I repositioned it With the info gained from this forum and all was good. Having nearly complete the 180 installation I now thinking about how low the carb does sit So will need to go back through the many pages and read up about the different options one question is, does the weight of fuel that will be in effect topping up the hopper tank have any negative or positive reactions to the needle settings and does the hopper need a clunk line as it should be full all the time ( I will go back and read it )
-
Decision time, As previous scribed the plan for my reunited dirty old Stampe is to fit the Laser 180, On the chance I may want to drop back to my Laser 150 I have chosen a adjustable nylon engine mount, Some folks find fitting the engine to the correct height a nightmare, You can use the underside of the mount So the centre line of the crankshaft sits higher but allows the mount to be lower note the mount needs to have parallel beams and not tapered
-
As this has become how I read it a personal attack on what I do and the way I fly I won’t be contributing to this forum anymore, Sick to the teeth because of the underlying on line abuse because I won’t conform to others views
-
I’m bored of the negativity took me many years to suppress my nerves to be able to fly at shows And to loose the feeling that blood is boiling in my arms , I personally don’t need any setbacks, Some of my copping mechanisms on the flight line may not be favourable but at least I’m having a go. I chose the Stampe to fly at shows because it’s been a plane I am settled with There still available new and would encourage anyone to try one
-
Totally agree
-
If I was a true scale buff I would agree, But I’m only having some fun and enjoying myself, Think we can agree that the Stampe is a great plane for all abilities and can handle a wide variety of power plants to suit our personal desires,

I can’t purchase what’s isn’t for sale I spent £1300 on a Valach 60cc With all the correct exhaust and manifold for my moth, admittedly it’s yet to be fitted as I fitted a G38 on reduction drive first just to see the difference My plan is to fit my Laser 180 for now,it’s only had four runs since the new carb and bearings were fitted My old now past buddies Laurie M and Brian H were avid Laser fans and Wonder how long before a fourstroke electric motor is available
-
You’ll be pleased to Know the Zenoah G 38 is now discounted, Not to sure what will happen for the chaps wanting to use a reduction drive Were are the Laser GA30 being being sold from still can’t find a listing for them
