Its nice reading through the site and believing that one can help in someway. I be gone now, never to darken your doorstep again, thankyou Denis - I did not mean to offend you - In fact I didn't even disagree, I merely asked you to expand on your views - I'm interested in why you think what you do! Surrely that's not confrontational? BEB Don't call me Shirley.....
  2. Posted by Martin Harris on 06/07/2016 21:17:18: Don't take BEB's correction to heart - but perhaps you should know that he is a university professor and teaches aerodynamics. We all get things wrong from time to time but it doesn't mean your opinions aren't valued. Second that. It appears to me that not everyone agrees on aerodynamic principles indeed as I understand it there is some chap working on turbulence and if he cracks it it will revolutionize wing design. Indeed I found it amusing that there are scientists that still believe the earth is flat. The Flat Earth Society is still going strong and I understand you by a tee shirt from them. I am interested to hear what you have to say about the c of g as I have moved the battery around a bit and it's a bit of a lump. Regards. Edited By Spice Cat on 06/07/2016 21:28:47
  3. Yes, but I seem to manage better landings with them on!!
  4. Thanks everyone!. It seems to me that I am slowing things down too much. As for taking off the googles; noooooo that's the best part! I'll keep the speed up and use the rudder. Would it be advisable to feed in power too???
  5. Evening team, I have been flying my HK Skyeye on FPV and have managed to stall three times now. Normally its on the cross wind leg when preparing for landing. This is high rear mounted and facing motor type glider with a large wing chord. Normally it's the left wing that drops and then she spirals in. What action do you recommend as I understand the engine placement and thrust angle can have an effect of flight characteristics. Any recovery will have be done with the goggles on by the way. Regards. Edited By Spice Cat on 06/07/2016 18:54:26

  7. Thanks for this help chaps. I think his neighbour may be trying to pressure him a bit. They obviously don't know him that well!!
  8. Evening everybody. As this forum is the font of all knowledge I was wondering if anyone can give me a steer on this little problem or had experience themselves. My father, in his eighties and not in the best of health, has neighbours that have submitted a planning application for home improvement involving external building work. The plans have been approved and work is due to commence soon but today the neighbour informed my dad that scaffolding would be erected on his property. This is the first he has known of this and has objected to this due to the last time this happened his property was damaged and he had a very stressful time getting things put right.( Presumably during the planning phase it would have been known that scaffolding would be required on a neighbours property so why wasn't it mentioned then??) The neighbour has told him that by law this can and will be done. All I can find is the Access to Neighbouring Land Act 1992 but it specifies that the work must be for the 'preservation' of land. I did read in another forum that home improvements are specifically excluded from the act. Anyone had experience of this from either side of the argument?? Regards.
  9. Does anyone know of a good pip video software as I want to put FPV overlay on a go pro clip. Any ideas??

  11. Posted by Steve Hargreaves - Moderator on 24/04/2016 10:30:28: Love this sort of thing..... Some friends are moving onto a new development not far from me & Redrow, the developer, has unearthed a AA gun emplacement see here As a child we used to holiday in North Wales on the Llyn Peninsula at Hells Mouth Bay or Porth Neigwl as the locals call it.... I was always intruiged by the derelict buildings & recently found out that it used to be an RAF base....an emergency/relief landing base & later an Air Gunnery training base..... In that case try this for size.
  12. He's also missed out on RAF Penshurst in Kent. As for looking on Google Earth, I look for the tell tale 'triangle'. I love Google earth by the way......
  13. All this reminds me of the sketch with Ronnie Corbett, Ronnie Barker and John Cleese on how we love to pigeon hole people. "I know my place"
  14. This website is an extension of a similar one from the USA, indeed the author is the same. It seems to be a bit of a work in progress but otherwise quite interesting. Regards on this miserable Sunday
  15. I do feel that the carriers are misrepresenting their charges and should let you know at the outset the exact amount they require. The way its being done now is a bit like a gun to the head. Pay the extra or no goodies. Although its probably buried somewhere in the t & c's that never get read.
  16. Posted by Pete B - Moderator on 05/04/2016 18:58:58: I'd have thought the gripe has to be with DHL, not HK - do you want the title changed? Pete Probably a good idea
  17. Greetings people, I have just ordered an upgrade for my Quantum V2 goggles, the additional magnifying lenses, and had to buy from the Hong Kong end. The total cost with shipping was £25.13. Shipping was via DHL and I have just received a waybill for £15 for VAT and duty. I queried this as its 60% of the cost and was told that the VAT was £5.25, I don't want to get into an argument about this I know I had to pay and this is not an issue, but according to DHL, the remaining £10 (eh??) is a one off advance payment for private customers with no account. Non refuandable. Anyone else been stung like this??
  18. Antonov? That would make sense as Mr Backshall did say that bits were dropping off and in place of a aircraft log there was a bible!!! Donald, holiday??
  19. I have just seen the first instalment and apart from the usual horrors of the jungle floor, a wondering spider whose sting has an interesting side effect and a wasp with a bad attitude, there was the issue of the flight in. Their kit arrived in what looked like a Beech Staggerwing,I look to be corrected on this, having dumped the kit off the pilot took off turned and performed a fly by past the camera. His right wing tip must have only been three feet off the ground and came perilously close to the film crew. Talk about cowboy. Later on their campsite was interesting to as it was in an abandoned C47 transport plane. They then set off towards their goal. A sheer rock face that seemed to go on forever. Good stuff
  20. Tearing myself away from Six Nations but has anyone has dealings with flyingwings.co.uk. ?? Regards
  21. I vaguely remember listening to the 'The Clitheroe Kid' on a Sunday...
  22. Greetings to all, I took the fpv plunge last year and just recently managed to get around to having my first genuine fpv flight. Apart from mild air sickness, I kid you not, it was great. Galvanised I bought an eagle tree data logger, odd and stabilisation unit on eBay. The set came with a Blox Neo GPS sensor. After some tinkering I have managed to get the odd working to my liking but the GPS is playing up. It 'sees' anything up to ten satellites but only for four seconds. It then has a break for for twenty seconds before repeating the cycle. I have gone all the way through the data logger software without much success. I have noticed that the contact like flashes rapidly. Thanks to this fault the heading and return to home function, the most important function I think, does not work. Calling to to eagle tree fpv experts out there for help. Regards.
  23. Shouldn't really say it but it would have been one of those 'priceless' moments if he had reversed into something..
  24. I have used the simple expedient of running a pencil up and down the inner. Works on zips too
