  1. Crack on mate. I do recall that I there was an indicator light on the fuse which was plumbed in to light when the ignition system was active. This flickered when on the ground but the engine ran fine; when on the ground. Once in the air it spluttered and I think it eventually cut out. However I only had two flights so bit difficult to tell. The model in question is a YT Bird Dog so it needs a good strip and good conditions. The former is covered and the latter doesn't have a hope in hell! I'll keep you updated.
  2. The engine has the bespoke anti vibration mounts but I will run over everything again before I fly. Weather permitting of course.
  3. Cheers, been through all the other bits. It's just when it lifts off and all the vibration goes through the airframe. The man at Just Engines was good enough to suggest it.
  4. Evening everyone, Can anyone give me a link to a switch suitable to use on a CDI ignition system?? I have a 26cc Turnigy petrol engine which has never run right, so far, and I have been advised to change the switch. Any ideas??
  5. No, it ran forward but you may be on the right track as I had blown up one of the vents.
  6. Cheers. The carb may be the culprit but it's running a treat now. Gremlins!
  7. Cheers. Hope to fly tomorrow
  8. It is my belief that these machines are cared for and maintained far better than most commercial aircraft.
  9. Evening everyone, Today at the strip I had a problem starting my Chipmunk with its Laser 70 engine. I then decided to give the fuel system a bit of help by gently blowing into one of the two vents with a spare piece of fuel tube. Well the engine started fine then went to full throttle ignoring whatever setting the throttle was set to. At first I thought it was a problem with the servo and with a full tank I faced the prospect of an overheating engine. Pinching off the two breather tubes I managed to get the engine to shut down and after an inspection found that the throttle servo was fine and the throttle arm moving on the carb. The barrel was also ok moving to close as required. Back home I started her again without the 'wind' assistance this time and she ran fine up and down the rev range. Obviously by blowing in the breather I had caused this to happen but why no response from the throttle and why did it run so long, over two minutes?? Any ideas???

    SLOW PC

Had a similar problem myself and it's worth viewing task manager to find out which is the power hungry element. Also have a look at uninstall programs, you may be surprised to find what junk you have collected from downloads you have done that come with 'extras'. One drastic step I took to eventually solve all my problems was to re format the hard drive after I had removed all my precious stuff to a seperate portable hard drive. Good luck.
  11. The last surviving Dambuster pilot Squadron Leader Les Munro has passed away aged 96. RIP
  12. Thanks Jon. But of a price difference as you say!
  13. Chaps and chappesses. I managed to prang my BH Chipmunk 64 yesterday and a few repairs are needed to the underside of the wing. I have searched the Internet and can't find the code for the grey covering. Any ideas?
  14. Funny because I was stung at the field today....
  15. Not flying related but at the flying field however. I saw this strange thing in the cleft of an oak tree. Never seen the like before.

  19. Cheers. Think I'll give it a miss this time. as for poundland, they have some good stuff and Lidl's as well. Regards.
  20. Has anyone tried this stuff??? Any good?????
  21. Pretty sure it is. The oleos are after market jobs not original fit as far as I can tell. I would have put a photo in but I'm at work. Cheers
  22. I recently purchased a 5' wingspan Chipmunk at Wings and Wheels and a lovely thing it is too. Apart from the Lazer engine it has sprung oleos with a stablilising strut that runs to the rear and connects to the aileron servo covers. I had a very pleasant maiden flight with her and then an awful landing on the secnd flight resulting in the struts being damaged. Sorry I haven't included photos but as a general question; are these struts necessary?? Your thoughts please.
  23. Good evening forumites, I have been trolling through the interweb thing and can't find Piper Pawnee wheels anywhere. They are shown on websites, code HAN4038, but no one has any stock. Does anyone know of a UK or European supplier for these wheels or indeed have a pair for sale?? Regards.
  24. Receiver arrived ok yesterday. Happy shopper.
