  1. If it's an unrecognised number just stay silent and listen. 9 times out of 10 the 'machine' will terminate the call after a few seconds but if it's somebody who actually wants to speak to you they will eventually say "hello?" and then you can judge by the accent😁
  2. My AI pal says:- A bureaucrat is an official, often within a government or large organization, who works within a structured administrative system and typically follows established rules and procedures. The term is sometimes used negatively to describe someone who is excessively focused on rules, slow to act, or overly rigid.
  3. My LG OLED TV broke down a couple of months ago - I was quite surprised because TVs just don't break anymore and this one was not quite a year old. Anyway phoned up LG customer support who did the usual '20 questions' thing and got me to "switch it off at the wall and on again" and do a "reset" button pushing exercise. Nothing worked and I thought they would just send me a new TV but, interestingly, they said they would get the repair man to come and sort it - I thought "TV repair man? Yeah right" - anyway, sure enough, a man in a van from a company called T.V.R.S. turned up. However, in true 1960s TV repair man style he said he couldn't fix it and would have to take it back to the workshop (about 150 miles from my home!). 2 weeks later he returned with my TV all fixed and I asked him what had been wrong with it? He said they had to fit a new screen. I reckon that an OLED screen is easily the most expensive part of the TV and, what with the travelling and man-hours, I can't see that being an economical repair. I guess it's down to the new 'sustainable' ethos that's doing the rounds just now🙄
  4. I would say it's done. If, for instance, you were to charge it solely through the power cable (red/black) what would happen is that the charger would try to bring the pack voltage up to 25.2V and in the process the 4.2V cell would be overcharged so much it would overheat and catch fire.
  5. They're the cheap end of the market so I reckon it would be much less bother just to buy another kit then you'll have a whole box of spares😄
  6. Ha! Ha! My retirement plan was to wait until I was 66 then do an armed robbery on a bank - I would either get away with lots of money or I would get caught and jailed for the rest of my life where the government would provide my free food, lodgings and health care and I would probably be moved to a "soft" prison after a couple of years - win win..........................unfortunately there are now no banks in my town so I would have to use my bus pass to travel 20 miles to the nearest one🙄😄
  7. Unfortunately true but just another passion killer, miserable whiney things😝
  8. Google? What's not to like about them? - Android, Chrome, YouTube, Earth, Maps, Shopping, Docs, Play, phone backup, ask it any question and get an instant answer - the list goes on and it's all free. All you need is Malwarebytes with browser guard and Ublock and you never see any adverts, not even on YouTube. I trust Google way more than I "trust" the real baddies - Microsoft.
  9. Sorry, slightly off topic, but this struck a chord. I once worked for an American company who used to inflict computer based training on us on a frequent basis. I found that you could fast-forward the videos and go straight to the multiple-choice questions where you just had to get 60% right to pass. The thing used to give your score along with how long you took and not once in 5 years did anybody query why I only took 5 minutes or less to complete a supposed 30 minute module. 🙄
  10. It's all a lottery - I have Talk Talk full fibre 150megs £28 for 2 yr contract and SPUSU for my moby £4.50 unlimited calls/texts and 5gb data/month (runs on EE)
