  1. Is this poll really suggesting 61% of us do not own a micro model??? Either people are telling a few porky pies or all the guys with micro models are too busy flying in their gardens and parks to be bothered to vote!!!. I can tell you now that in my group of flying friends we all have or had at least one micro model ranging from those silverlit toys right through to the blade mcpx heli and the umx beast, and they are a cracking bit of fun when you dont have the time to get to the flying field or just want a quick blast around the local field, and lets not forget that the sub one hundred pound bracket is a great way into the hobby for begginers and children, and lets face it! this hobby needs more youngsters to take interest if it is ever going to survive next to the market of ipads and computer gamers. And as for the argument of £100 pound being too pricy for a bit of foam and plastic!! Come on be realistic you are paying for hours of fun as well as the tech involved to produce such creations. Lets not forget that a typical Consul game costs £30 to £50 pounds and a pack of AA batteries to keep the remote going is a fiver total play time for my nine year old about 4 hours value for money a big fat 0. My advice go and buy one asap and enjoy and my moto "if you have not tried it, dont knock it'.
  2. John whats the C rating on your lipo packs i only ask because its unlikely you will ever get 40Amps out of a 1300mah pack and the 2200mah will need to be a good 25c rated battery to sustain a 40 Amp draw.   Im using 3000mah 35c packs in my Art tech Alpha jet which is similar to your F18 no other mods required and it went a good 15% faster as compared to the 1500mah pack they recommended.   If you want a great upgrade that costs very little then get yourself the Ripmax 3cell squall motor and fan setup its hard to beat for the money.   All the best Mike.
  3. As somebody who had a major gripe at Ripmax for the wot4 Foamy concerning the power/ubec/ esc problems i can understand people finding my vote for best artf as a bit strange!!!!, but we all have to look at the bigger picture. I use artf aircraft almost exclusively not because i cant build "i can" but because i work 60 hours a week and just don't have the time to build a proper kit. However there are in my opinion different categories in the artf industry. We have the toy 'Silverlit' and co good fun but you would not tell your mates.  We have the Foamy chuck it in the car and have a great time cos its cheap ie FunJet and wot4 Foamy. And we have the serious boys toys Hanger 9, Great planes ect but you dont want to fly it too hard because its all shiny. Now of course your wallet situation also governs the above but for me and my club mates the above is accurate. So the best artf from the whole year??? is it to be the big scale warbird i have flown twice ? or is it going to be the cheap foamy hack that gets bombs mounted under it cameras on top of it and i still cant tire from scraping the fin on the deck during those ultra low passes....hmmmmmm its a toughy!!!!! P.S Mr P-A-W i dare you to try it
  4. 1. West london models   2. Giant Cod   3. Wot 4 Foamy   4. Horizon Hobbies
  5. Bring on the EDF    1. Meteor   2. Hunter   3. VC-10   64mm edfs are so cheap now and lipos are much better but how about twin 70mm edfs in a Meteor ????????
  6. Many thanks Dusty   I think the model has a moulded duct that the fan sits in 'typical foamy design' so will test as is first and take some watt/ thrust measurements. Tomahawk look to be a quality manufacturer so maybe they have done there home work on the ducting only time will tell.
  7. Well looks like i am on my own here so het 6904 fan and a 2w 20 motor have been purchased along with the model and a Spektrum DX8 setup to allow for some telemetry, just have to hope that santa brings all the bits in for xmas day. If anyone is interested i will take some construction pictures and post them up here. Merry xmas and safe flying.
  8. Thanks Gary  The Lander unit is way to heavy at 210g inc motor verses 165g for the het 6904 inc motor. plus the lander tops out at 700 watts where the het will goto 800 watts on 4s and 1100 watts on 6s . I am beginning to think i am the first in the UK to get one of these jets.
  9. Hello all   Has anyone here seen this model in flight ??? I have just ordered one as a xmas prezzi and i need an idea as to powerplant, Als hobbies suggest a HET 2W20 in a wemotec mini fan on 4s which is probably ok but i have never used either of these items and he is selling them in my opinion at a bit of a premium add another £100 to the price of the kit. i was wondering if the eflight df15 unit would be better ?? or how about the HET 2W20 in a HET 6904 fan ??? Any realistic opinions out there or am i on my own??
  10. This aircraft has four servos and no mention in the instructions as to fitting a receiver pack or u-bec my friends fell out of the sky on its first flight due to receiver lock out "Spektrum 2.4" and RIPMAX''S answer was no i cant be our controller we have sold hundreds!!!! thats hundreds of potential crash''s injury''s and liable damage.   RIPMAX you need to amend the instructions to include a power supply for the receiver and issue a warning to all owners remember this is a trainer which could be flying in a field or park near motorways or residential areas. You also need to take crashed models back and replace them or refund them they are not fit for purpose.   FLY SAFE!!!
