Thanks leccyflyer, will get it repaired and back up again as soon as possible. -
Unfortunately these things happen. Before and after.

All being well this Wednesday coming Toto I'm hoping to maiden the Tiger 60. The forecast is perfect so if all goes to plan I will give you a flight report as I know you have a vested interest in this plane. Lol. Unfortunately I will be the only one at the field so no video man sadly. But I will get a video of it done at a later date. Will send you a photo also , that's if it's still in one piece lol fingers crossed.

I suppose I can count myself fortunate as all my planes are stored in every room in the house except the bathroom 😂. Then again I'm a single man and if the right woman came along or any woman for that matter she wouldn't be long in turfing them out the door. Lol.

Like Paul said, only two fingers required and then mark the spot with a couple of cg stickers.

The Saito 72 running nicely on its first start up.

Hope you have a great birthday tomorrow Toto and many more of them.

Just in from the back garden firing up the Saito on my latest project "The Avistar ". The engine is brand new and started first time. I ran four tanks of fuel through it slobbering rich.

Some more work carried out today on my latest project. The Great Planes Avistar Elite. This plane arrived on my doorstep a few weeks ago from Michigan in the USA. It was sent to be by a very good friend across the pond and I'm enjoying every minute in the assembly process. Today I completed the plumbing and installation of the fuel tank which I have layed on a bed of foam and held in place by a Kavan velcro strap. A plywood spacer disc is included to fit around the neck of the fuel tank to help protect it. I also have installed the brand new Saito 72 that I bought over 10 years ago, and today it sees daylight for the first time since then. Instead of using the supplied stock aluminium engine mount which is meant for an OS 46AX, the recommended powerplant for this plane, I have had to use a larger mount so that it would accommodate the bigger fourstroke engine. Luckily enough I had on hand a Hangar 9 universal aluminium mount which screwed in perfectly to the firewall and so no modification was required. The Avistar is a very heavy plane and my Saito 62 would have struggled, so I may the right choice to go with the 72. It comes in very hot on landing so the flaps will help immensely to help slow ithings down. Finally I installed the ever reliable Dubro fourstroke throttle linkage. This takes all the pain and heartbreak out of connecting up to the throttle lever. I've been using them for years and never any problems.
-
The next step of assembly on the Avistar was to install the four servos on the wings. The plane going by all reports comes in very hot on landing so the flaps will help cool things down. I used a JR 300mm servo extension lead on each wing half for ailerons.

Thanks. The covering job on this plane looks very good. I'm putting a Saito fourstroke on it. I will try a 62 first. If that is underpowered I will swap it out for the 72. Yes, seven servos, three in the fuselage and four on the wings as I'm installing the flaps . Going by what other owners have said , the Avistar comes in hot on landing and the flaps are very efficient at slowing it down.
-
Next step was the installation of the receiver switch.
-
Have servos installed in the servo tray. The Avistar takes a total of seven servos.

Today I've started a new project and for anyone that knows me I've always enjoyed flying a trainer. So this is my latest model. It's a Great Planes Avistar Elite advanced trainer.

As we say over here Toto when it comes to someone learning to drive, which I know has nothing whatsoever to do with model aeroplanes. "KEEP THE MACHINERY BETWEEN THE GREENERY "

Don't store your lipo batteries in the house Toto unless you keep them in a ammo box. I have mine inside a large ammo box . Back in 2007 our house was severely burned and my elderly Aunt was lucky to escape with her life due to a faulty lipo battery exploding. We were out of our house for five whole months while our home was rebuilt. They must be treated with respect, but as long as they as safely stored you will have no problem.

I know what you mean Toto. Over here it would freeze the barnacles of a brass monkey 🙊
-
Absolutely. That's how I break in all my engines.
-
Not bad for an engine that has lay in its box for 18 years Toto. Will take a few more tanks of fuel through it to get it running perfectly.
-
Not today Today, but at the next break of good weather im looking forward to getting the Tiger up and seeing how it performs. Thanks Toto. She definitely is a sporty looking article. I'm for the club flying field tomorrow but not with the Tiger 60. All being well some day next week I will get the maiden done and give you a full flight report on its weaknesses and strengths. Though I doubt there will be few weaknesses if any if its anything remotely like its younger brother and it flys great. So hopefully in the not too distant future you will be getting yours onto the runway also for its big day out. Kind regards Aidan

I have Castle Creations in both my Meridian and T-28 Trojan. Very reliable these are Toto.
