All in the name of keeping you safe from the latest boogeyman, I wonder if people used to think of the Gestapo in the same way ? I'm safe from the boogeyman then C-J, he'll not get me. Why? Well, I have a mobile, but I hardly ever use it. I have no idea what the number is, which does cause some embarrassment whenever I'm asked for it, but the fact is that I just don't seem to need it. Most of the time when, I leave the house, I simply forget to take it with me. SWIMBO, on the other hand, takes her phone everywhere, at home she takes it with her from room to room, she even takes it to bed " oh someone might call during the night" is her logic despite us having a landline. It's not unusual for us to turn the car around after a mile or two of a local trip, shopping perhaps, and go back home because she has forgotten her phone. Now, with her new android phone and `all you can eat data` whatever that means the spys in the skys will be working overtime over our house. Edited By Colin Ashman on 28/07/2014 08:14:00 Where did I say your phone was the boogeyman ? I meant that you, I and everybody else in the country are spied on by shadey government agencies just for the pretences of keeping you safe from the next Boogeyman they and the media come up with to keep you all afraid and under control. KC the newspaper Phone hacking was supposed " journalists" I use that term loosely, listening in to private answering machine messages to try and glean a story for their newspapers, nothing to do with any truth just for headlines for the front page, Bletchley Park eavesdropped on the enemy, not every single citizen, do you consider yourself an enemy of the country ? John considering the police already have laws to covertly monitor suspects, by firstly suspecting them of something, gaining a warrant, then carrying out surveillance lawfully so how do they have "one hand tied behind their back"? as Chris says intercepts need to be targeted, so why do they need to monitor every single one of us storing all the data for 12 months, making the job that much more difficult and more expensive for the people sifting through mountains of mundane everyday texts, emails, phone conversations etc, David Cameron announced an extra £800 million funding for all this surveillance, tried to get a hospital appointment lately, your local roads in condition ? Wrexham, where I live, the council are having to cut back so much they can only afford to cut the public area grass 4 times a year, kids cant even play football cos the grass is 2 foot high on the fields, yet the government can pull £800 million out of thin air to listen to Colins wife talkin about her feet ? Not to mention the pornographic portfolios they have reportedly keep containing saucy photo messages sent, private webcam footage etc nice work if you can get it I`d say
  2. The thing is BEB, people entrusted with these things are not always trustworthy enough are they, and who monitors the monitors ? How many Police officers whom you are meant to trust get suspended, sacked or even prosecuted for corruption / abuse of power etc every year, even a quick google brings up more than you would think I expect. Most of you seem very prepared to accept it, the "im not bothered, ive got nothing to hide" brigade are just sleep walking into a total surveillance state, you only have to look at the direction its gone in the last few years to see where its going, you cant walk down a street without being filmed from every direction, one ive been hearing lots about lately is GPS Black boxes in every car to monitor your driving and movements is on the horizon, it starts off as "have one for your own benefit and we might give you a discount of your insurance" then after this trial to make sure the technology works, it gets rolled out to everybody like it or not, refuse to have one and you'll be refused Insurance, we all know how they like to milk the cash cow motorists

  4. Posted by Martin Whybrow on 26/07/2014 09:30:10: Love the quote in the original article: 'So what's the point of these planes? Apparently -- at least this is the widespread theory, and we can't definitely confirm it - the plane is used for surveillance, or more specifically to intercept mobile phone conversations and intercept calls.' Why do you need a plane to do that? Oh, and intercepting phone calls in nigh-on impossible because the digital data is encrypted. From what`s already happening and the drip law pushed through parliament last week, service providers must record details of who you phoned / contacted / website you visited etc, when, for how long and in the case of text messages, emails etc, the content of the message and save it for 12 months. If the nsa / gchq etc can remotely turn on your microphone on your mobile phone even while it is switched off, it matters not if the data is encrypted while being sent, they can listen to you saying it and record it live
  5. Posted by Pete B - Moderator on 25/07/2014 22:31:29: I know I'd rather 'they' had my bank details than Billy Burglar... Pete You think a Cessna would stop anybody else getting it ?
  6. So all the Data they glean from your mobile and home phones, GPS, internet activity, computer files, cctv, face recognition, banking details, store cards, "Smart" meters, RFID etc isn't enough to keep an eye you anymore, they have to rely on a couple of light aircraft circling overhead and that's magicly going to keep everybody safe ? LOL
  7. Roger, you are not meant to post email addresses on an open to view forum as It can lead to spam for the address posted, that's probably why your other post has been changed, if anybody requires it, it is better to PM them directly
  8. I got bitten on the hand by one last year, made my hand swell up like something off the film "Nutty Professor" was told Neem oil is excellent as an all round repellent of most insects, its natural, and is quite good for your skin to boot
  9. Posted by John F on 18/07/2014 11:47:34: There is already plenty of evidence to show Russian military vehicles and tanks crossing the border and later being used to assault Ukranian positions along with Pro-Russian civilians being armed with new Russian light and heavy weapon systems. There isn't though, even the US cannot provide credible evidence to show there are actually any actual Russian forces in Ukraine, The OSCE are there monitoring on the ground and they have stated there are no Russians etc, The whole countries weapons were provided by Russia and USSR at different times when they were the same country / allies, same as these BUK missiles that apparently were used to shoot down the Plane, They are Russian made weapons sold to Ukraine for their use, the same as we provide weapons to countries. Look at ISIS in Iraq, were told they have heavy weaponry including US and Our weaponry seized from legitimate sources we supplied, yet a bit further up the world were told this isn't possible and that they must have been provided by Russia. In Israel, they can shell a group of kids playing on a beach and call it self defence, yet if Assad bombs actual armed rebel forces in his country he is a brutal dictator that must be removed. The hypocrisy of it all is astounding.

At that height I`m assuming they would look very similar. Coincidence or Possible Assassination ? Edited By Codename-John on 17/07/2014 21:50:40 The thing is, there is nothing more stunningly stupid than arming rebels with anti aircraft missile systems knowing that the other side also has anti aircraft systems and then flying over it yourself. It simply would not happen. There is nothing as good as rumour and speculation. ""Putin has only one jet – Board One, he does not fly other planes. This plane always takes off from Vnukovo-3, but the presidential plane has not been flying over Ukraine for a while," another source told the Gazeta.ru news portal." My thoughts are with the families of those affected and I hope this goes some way to stopping this ridiculous war. Where do you know for fact that anybody has armed anybody with any weaponry, reports were that rebels may have captured some missiles from a Ukrainian base, yet as I posted above the Ukrainians themselves are stating they were inoperable ? or are you just speculating also ?
  11. Apparently a newspaper over here has published pictures of dead children`s passport photos from the scene etc also, nothing is sacred in the pursuit of newspaper sales anymore
  12. But since then - The militias fighting in eastern Ukraine against the government troops have no weapons systems that could have shot down the Malaysia Airlines plane on Thursday, the General Prosecutor of Ukraine, Vitaly Yaryoma, stated citing a military report submitted to President Petro Poroshenko. Considering the high altitude the MH17 was flying, it could not have been taken down by a portable anti-aircraft missile or anti-aircraft cannon, which the Ukrainian militia have been using to attack Ukrainian military aircraft. Earlier there were reports that the militia had captured a Buk missile launcher, which could have done it, but Kiev insisted that the system was out of order and could not be repaired by the militia.
  13. Their website is explicitly clear when you are ordering from anywhere other than the HK warehouse, its in the very title of the item you are viewing, if it does not state UK, EU or any other warehouse in the title it is coming from HK, it really is that simple
  14. Yes sorry was a typo, Metres not feet
  15. I don't know if you`ve seen the news but Tragicly a Malaysian Airlines 777 has crashed in Ukraine, there are reports it was shot down with some sort of missile. The Malaysian Airlines 777 looks like this Co-incidently This Russian President Putin`s personal plane was also due around the area on return from Brazil, and in fact their flight paths crossed near Warsaw although at different times, flying at nearly the same height approx. 10,000 feet. At that height I`m assuming they would look very similar. Coincidence or Possible Assassination ? Edited By Codename-John on 17/07/2014 21:50:40
  16. 6 Days from dispatch is my record from Hong Kong, no lipo`s included though, it was some servoless retracts, servo`s etc. not choosing the very cheapest shipping option helps
  17. Why is it only and immediately people of, quote, "Asian Ancestry" seen as a terrorist threat ? Do you not remember the IRA and any other instance of terrorism not involving a muslim etc any more or has television and news media propagandised you so much anybody with slightly darker skin and maybe facial hair is an imminent threat, this is the 2nd thread in a week where straight as terrorism is mentioned its the Muslims we have to suspect. I get numerous people interested when i`m out flying, of all sorts of origin, I don't jump to conclusions about any of them, look at the shows, How many different origins of people do you see in the crowds watching, Do you straight away think they`re here to see which models are best for fitting bombs to etc ? Perhaps your attitudes towards the people that came to you for help are the very reason you didn't see them at your club again. Colin states above that nobody would let them fly immediately because of insurance, my club has a 3 visit rule that the BMFA insurance covers someone for 3 visits before they join when they`re assisted by a member, surely its not just my club the BMFA does this for, if it was a little kid with his mum that turned up with all the gear would you act the same, be suspicious and turn him away being so worried you had to call the police if you never saw him again too ?

  20. Posted by avtur on 05/07/2014 21:24:35: Posted by Codename-John on 05/07/2014 19:30:25: The thing that concerns me about Horizons service for Spektrum is with things like receivers, they always seem to follow the same script as RX failed, was sent off to Horizon who subsequently find nothing wrong, yet replace said RX with a brand new one "just in case" My question is how can this be profitable, if they replace every ( according to their test ) perfectly fine RX, surely they are going to be loosing money, I mean say for instance if I came around to test your electrics in your house, it all tested fine, safe and within regulations then proceeded to tell you I`ll rewire it just in case, you`d think I was havin a laugh ! Or are they possibly finding faults yet deliberately saying there was no fault with the original RX as to not make themselves in someway liable for any incidents it may have caused, or look bad for selling a faulty product ? In terms of commercial value this is probably the easiest and least expensive way to deal with the problem, in reality they are probably covering many end user problems but it is easier to replace like with like... With a unit value of £20 - £50 (at retail) there simply isn't enough profit in that to justify a full and comprehensive test and breakdown. It's far easier to replace and move on ... I know its nit-picking but surely if that is the case then they shouldn't be telling people "we`ve tested it and there was no fault" they should say "ok if you`re not happy and suspect something is wrong, we will replace it with another just in case"
  21. Posted by Cuban8 on 05/07/2014 20:57:02: If a sixty quid (retail, so more like fifteen or twenty quid to HH!) receiver is returned under warranty, then I don't blame them chucking it in the bin and sending out a new one - just not cost effective to have a technician plug it all together and spend twenty or thirty minutes testing such a low value item, whether it was duff or not. What if that £15 / £20 item to them was in a few £thousand worth or thousand hour creation of yours that went in due to radio problems, would you want to know then if it was that which was at fault, or would you be pleased with their £15 / £20 replacement ?

Its on the left at the top, opposite bottom right Seriously though, I doubt you are using IE8 as its old now, I think the current is IE11 ? Just go into your account, above where it says what you pasted it says CHECK in blue, click that, and then it will show all your orders, there will be a blue code next to your order, sometimes clicking that takes you to tracking site where you copy and paste the blue code into, also I often copy and paste it into parcel force`s track and trace website which tells me if its got here yet etc

BEB I hope you lot don't have any plans for "social experiments" on our moods lol
