  1. I to would like to try racing. I live in a perfect place to with Northampton, Peterborough and barkston within easy reach. However I am a bit worried I am not good enough, I have only been flying 18 months 12 of those solo. I fly a wot4 and a sig four star can do a few aerobatics, inverted circuits etc. so what standard to I need to be to safely have a go? Thanks dean
  2. Hi Chris I was just browsing Ebay and noticed this plan for kwik fli 3. Not sure if it is what you are seeking. Dean
  3. For my first low winger I decided to build a Sig four star 60, great to build and so easy to fly, it floats on and on when landing! It can be bought ARTF but is quite pricey. This is mine Or how about an acrowot?
  4. I am waiting to go to the local model shop to get some more bits for my Kamco Kavalier ,so with itchy fingers I decided to make a start on my Puppeteer. I have decided to start with the wings, the undercarriage mounting doesn't look very well supported to me so this will be beeefed up a bit. Any advice or modifications anyone has will be greatly received. Edited By Dean on 02/10/2012 10:53:14

  6. Thanks graham There does seem to have been quite a few people that have built the lysander on here so lots of info on them, and plenty of help for me. May try one of these as my next plan build when the Kavalier is done.
  7. I voted for the Pushy cat, think i would do one of those even if not choosen. I also like the look of the tucano and whizza to so may join in if one of those is picked. Dean
  8. What about the Lysander or havard are they tricky?
  9. Thanks Gary After the Pupeteer I was thinking of doing a Balsa USA 1/4 scale cub. After that I am not sure where to go to lead up to building something like the wellington.
  10. Hi all TN builders So far my build experience is: I have built two models from kits, I am not far off finishing a Kamco Kavalier built from plans and have just started a Flair Pupeteer. Tony Nijhuis has some great models,In perticular I really like the Lancaster and wellington . How hard are Tonys models to build from plans? I will buy at least the cnc pack.
  11. How about what people to during winter? 1. Carry on flying as normal no matter what. 2. Don't fly as often or go for a shorter time. 3. Put the models to bed for the winter and build/repair models. Or something along those lines!
  12. Hi ian I was in a very simular situation to you only a few months ago, advice i got was not to do anything scale and to do something with a constant chord wing, so that making the ribs would be easier. I considered Peter Miller's Harlequin or Sandow and Alex Whittaker's Jitterbug these seem ideal with plenty of information on the builds on here. I decided on the Sandow in the end. I also got plans for a Kamco Kavalier from Kamco Models and have made good progress on this. It has massive self satisfaction building a model from a bit of paper and a pile of balsa!!!! Dean
  13. Done a bit more Cut out the formers for the spine and glued them on Also fitted the firewall, and roof of the fuel tank bay. Glued stringers along the spine. and attached the fin and tail!!

  17. Hi and welcome Just, If you are planning on carrying the battery to the flying field I would go for a 12v lead acid battery that will power your starter, glow and fuel pump (if required) all through a power panel. something like this A flight box can be quite heavy with all your bits and bobs, fuel etc. and a car battery is very heavy!! Good luck Dean Edited By Dean on 14/09/2012 23:03:21
  18. Agree with Big Phil, I have standard Futaba 3003s in my IC balsa wot4.
  19. Posted by Dylan Reynolds on 07/09/2012 17:29:16: Finish my Precedent Stampe 1/4, pass my A (weather permitting), start and finish the sligsby T31M, help the missus finish her plane, refurb the CAP232, get my new engines run in, have a brew and some grub, then after tonight i have no idea! You have just had me looking at the Precedent stampe kits! from the photos you have in another thread it looks huge, I think I have to start saving for one of these, looks great! Dean
  20. It has been fairly straight forward, only thing being is the plan is for the kit so some details are not on the plan, however it is quite easy to work out what size/shape things should be plus I have been using the master builder ( Tony Bennett ) built thread to help me out. I didn't realise how much satisfaction there is in cutting out your own bits, takes a while but great fun!!!
  21. Fin and Rudder cut out tailplane and elevators cut out to
  22. Done some more to my Kavalier Wing joined together and the U/C mounting blocks dry fitted Fuselage halfs joined I just had to put the bits together to make it look like a plane Dean
