  1. In short no i won't be up to the Nats again this year i'm interested to hear how the changes will have affected the showline this year somewhere i've not attended in a few due to too much going on on the showline personally the Top Gun should not really have ben there. this year to my knowledge its not so i'll be watching closely to see how it went this year.nasa
  2. hi all just a quick question i'm looking at the Yak 55M of both Slipstream RC or Goldwing RC both the models look great but for me at the moment the Goldwing RC has the edge on the colour scheme BUT is one kit better than the other??thanks guys nasa
  3. I like that retracts are a nice touch have you got a review model on the cards David??
  4. hi Elliot you mention wanting somewhere 10-15 minutes away but you don't mention what part of east sussex you live in given the E sussex boarder stretches from just outside Tunbridge wells to Hastings. incidentally i fly both at Maidstone and TWRCM in Frant E.sussexnasa
  5. interesting analagy there Andy BUT given the situation what would you have done??? i think Pete isn't saying it was'nt his fault what he is saying is something could be learned from the situation i don't think what he has written is actually blaming anyone for the situation i can actually tell you that Pete was teaching people to fly RC probably before i was born so he is extremely qualified to make decisions. and beleive me if Pete says inches away it was probably nigh on ontop of them . given the situation i'd be surprised if YOU did'nt react the same way. i know it would be difficult to say how anyone react in a situation as that and all too easy to stand on ones orange box and preach what he should or should'nt have done in this particular situation.nasa
  6. one T33 and 2 Alpha jets in that picture i think?
  7. well I've read with interest but I always fit a separate battery for the radio AND I always disconnect the BEC if fitted to the ESC its a complete no brainer really if the aircraft can handle the extra weight and all but the smallest of aircraft can, it goes without saying.  i can put up with no power to the prop but no power to the radio and its no model.steve
  8. without a B certificate or an LMA certificate you would not be allowed to fly at any of the normally organised public shows or events etc. organisers see the B as an accepted standard of flying/ability to be allowed to fly in front of the public. i'm pretty sure your insurance would still cover you BUT the organisers insurance probably would notnasa
  9. Posted by John Privett on 12/02/2011 18:31:46: Hi nasa, Unfortunately the info you have is now out of date. It does seem to have been rather badly-handled, but the B test schedule was updated to remove those concessions, coming into effect on 1st January 2011. However they seem to have neglected to update the documentation or to notify the examiners...  The info is available in various committee minutes if you've got a few hours to spare trawling through the BMFA site. I think it may have been mentioned in a recent BMFA News too.   thanks John i was not aware of this and i do thus retract my previous statement which incidentally was copied and pasted direct from the BMFA's website funny they can't even manage the simple task of updating their website let alone keeping their examiners in the loop. All hail the old Dinasoar that is indeed the BMFA a simple email to their examiners or even a bulletin in the insurance pack that came out would have ensured to most points that their examiners were told of the pending changes      ive not received a copy of that particular BMFA news and was thus unaware of its introduction so obviously this was news to me i had heard some chatter about standing behind a model during take-off but that was all i had heard thanks for the update. good old BMFA dropped another clanger i wonder how many other examiners out there that are in the same boat. nasa Edited By nasa_steve on 12/02/2011 20:02:14
  10. hi I'm a club examiner and the latest paperwork i have to hand states the following  For aircraft (scale aircraft specifically) which for reasons of structural strength or control limitations cannot perform an outside loop, a Split S or Reversal (from level flight, half roll to inverted, hold, then pull through half loop to recover in level flight) may be accepted by the examiner so the previous statement is incorrect i'm afraid   i do agree with the clubs stance in that B cert holders on 7kg upwards its a good idea and its really not that difficult to achieve nasa
  11. i take it it should read BMFA then cheerssteve
  12. What's the BMFS chaps?? I may have missed this one Cheers Steve
  13. in the original post simon asks i suppose in essence why the higher c rated batteries are needed when the demand for current in essence has remained the same.     the easy way to explain this would be to refer to a higher C rated battery as a better quality fuel than that of a lower C rated cell thus being more efficient at supplying said current and being able to hold a more consistent voltage. therefore giving a better bang per given weight.       these higher C rated cells are also as mentioned earlier of a lower internal resistance thus make it easier fo the electrons to flow this has the added bonus of not heating quite so easily as a lower C rated cell. the other advantage is those that need higher current can obtain this from a smaller pack and on the other hand cells are thus not pushed as close to their operating limit as lower C rated cells would be at a given demand and of course the knock on effect to this should be better longevity of the cells being usedsteve  Edited By nasa_steve on 30/12/2010 22:14:48
  14. Posted by Brian Parker on 30/12/2010 16:30:21: Heat is the enemy.  Ohms law is dependent on constant temperature.  ohms law is dependant on constant temperature??? in this post it seems you imply that if the temp is not constant then ohms law must change in some way   Ohms law remains the same if the temperature changes it makes no difference if it is constant or not and thus ohms law does not depend on constant temperature only your equation does. Edited By nasa_steve on 30/12/2010 21:58:44
  15. sorry brian but ohms law does not change with temperature only your equation steve is correct ohms law remains the same hence "Ohms Law" you merely have to take temperature and its adjusting factor into consideration when working out and thus adjust your equation NOT Ohms Law to take that into accountnasa

So used to being ripped off we have to question price reductions lol BB   I sorry... I cant resist?  When where you ripped off?  Just a little bug bear I have that so many people feel they are ripped off by the trade - yet 99% of shops make little more than 5% markup on most products they sell. In laymans terms...  if they sell a model for £100 they have usually only made £5 for the effort involved.  That too is compounded by the fact that they loost another 1-3% for the to the banks for their charges means that end profit on the sale is even lower!  Consider even - if you had to sell a model for a profit of £5 - how many would you need to sell to cover your current wage?  Tax? Vat? Business Rates etc?  Truth is.. I dont believe modellers have ever been ripped off - but for some reason loads of them think they have! Personally - hats off to all retailers for actually managing (just) to deliver the goods at the prices they do!  Anyway.. dont take it as a personal dig - just an observation of what I often see is the case  just a quick point i dont think barnseboys reply was about being ripped off after all he does work in the trade anyway. i think he was being Ironic.....
