  1. Alan, have you had any problems with the swift. I have one and a prob with the covering lifting slightly. I know another swift owner and experienced flyer whose wings literally ripped off in flight.
  2. Service does seem top notch. Have you heard of anyone else having problems with theirs. Just wondering if they're isolated incidents or a manufacturing fault ?   Maybe cause to start a new thread.
  3. Looks good. I've a weekend off from flying this week. Have to do some repairs to the swift as previously discussed. I think I'll take the time to make an identical bulk head from 4mm ply. grain running across for strength. then beef the nose side up with some 4mm fillets. I'm also thinking of making a better stop for the fuel tank. the small balsa section thet came with the kit just isn't upto the job. By the time I've finished I wont need the half ton of lead in the nose
  4. sounds about right. Well the swift flew BREIFLY..... Problem with the elevator rod.it came loose from the servo connector. hardly any control at all. You could say it landed slightly heavier than I'd have liked. Ripped the undercarriager and tail wheel straight off. Luckily I'd replaced the M3 steel machine bolts with Nylon so not too much damage. Really think seagull haven't thought this model through so well.   Answers on a postcard please....
  5. Hmm I used to be in the dealership game myself. Know exactly ehat your talking about.
  6. Result Stephen. Of sorts anyway. I woulkd have thought that a company such as Seagull would have posted something regarding this. Hopefully have mine up this afternoon and hopefully actually get my hands on the sticks..... As I'm still a novice I'm hoping my gentle flying won't cause any failures lol
  7. Hi stephen, Any news about the swift yet. I've not had 1 reply regarding mine. think its time to get the ply out and start adding a little strength.
  8. Just looked on the seagull website. no info there. Think I'll email them just to see if I get a response. Until then I think I'll ground the swift, Just to be safe.
  9. Thats nice of them. There's obviously something. Either with the model itself or the design.
  10. hi peter, checked the post office and low and behold. not cashed. Another now been issued and will be sent recorded delivery first thing in the morning. On hindsight, should have done that 1st time.
  11. Hi Peter. The lead looks the same. My instructor has emailed me ( he's found another 2 leads ) . Hopefully get flying as soon as my bmfa comes through. Phoned them yesterday and they cant find my application or postal order.   Get the feeling I'm not supposed to fly . The gods are against me lol.
  12. Just received my TX back from HH and I'm non the wiser. The report found no fault with the tx and suggested the fault was with the buddy lead or training tx.   I could except this if the buddy lead and training tx hadn't been used before and after I tried mine.   So really I'm non the wiser.   Any other ideas PLEASE !!!
  13. Well Stephen I think Ill just brace mine with some thin ply. Luckily for me I work in a builders merchant. Ply etc is quite easy to come by. Good luck and keep us all posted.
  14. I think its time to get the cyno and epoxy out and get some work done on mine. In a way I'm glad my dx5e is back with horizon hobbies. It'll give me time to beef things up before her next flight. Keep us posted on the findings. I'd be very interested to see what they say about it.
  15. Hmmm I agree with mowerman. The wot foamy may be too big. I had a wing tiger about 48" span and found that a little bit too big.   Whatever you choose, Go for high wing.
  16. Wow Stephen. never seen anything like that. The covering on the fuel tank cover is lifting a little on mine. That and being tail heavy is about all I can fault on it.   I would def advise newbies to give the swift a try.
  17. I love the model too. Seagull have done really well with this one. Just cant wait to fly her myself. My instructor took her up on saturday for her maiden and she was perfect. Only problem I have is the defective buddy connection on the dx5e meant I couldn't fly her myself. Lets hope that changes as soon as i get it back from HH.
  18. The seagull swift has the same plate. On this tho you simply slide the nylon bolts through and fix the wing. As I have no knowledge of the wotty I cant really comment on yours. just hope this helps a little.
  19. Ok. Just to keep everyone in the loop , So to say. I received an email from HH and basically there is a problem with the buddy lead connection on some models. ( as if we didn't know). It looks like its a bigger problem than origionally suspected as my model isn't one of those listed on their site. After a little gentle pushing they agreed to send a courier to pick it up tomorrow and repair or replace it. So Basically... If you have a problem with yours get in touch and let them know asap. DONT BE FOBBED OFF.
  20. I've just had a similar experience with "elite". took all my money then after two weeks i emailed asking for an approx delivery date. I received an email informing me that one of the items was out of stock. The item was due to be delivered to them the next day and i would get my items the day after. three days later I received a phone call. The ONE item was still not in stock and what do i want to do about it. I asked for a complete refund and I'm still waiting. Same as you John. phone engaged and no response from emails. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Theses items were supposed to be for my sons birthday . Needless to say he didn't have the Birthday he wanted.
  21. Hi Peter, I emailed Inwood Models last night and they got back to me first thing this morning. Dam those guys are good at customer service. Unlike some i could mention...... Here's their reply. Hi, It should work, it shouldn't make any difference if it is DSM2 or DSMX. Did you have the Master Tx switched on, and the Slave Tx switched off? It wont work if they are both switched on. Other than that I can't see any reason for it not to work. If you still have no luck, I would suggest emailing Horizon Hobby as they are the Spektrum distributor, they would be the most likely to know. Regards Nick Inwoods I've just emailed HH. Lets see how long it takes for them to get back to me.
  22. Yeah Chris. The Jr is switched off and the dx5 is on.   As I said, its so frustrating. the only difference with my dx5e and the clubs, is that mine is the dsmx model and the club has the older model. Otherwise the set up is identical.   When the JR was plugged into mine. The Dx5 operated the model but the JR wouldn't. Checked the lead on the clubs Boomerang ( with the old dx5 ) and it worked fine.   A real head scratcher..................
  23. To be honest Peter I have no idea if its a genuine lead or not. I'm using the clubs lead as once again I'm a novice to the hobby. Its just a strange situation. The old JR with buddy lead will mork on the old dx5e or dx6/7. For some reason it just wont hook up with my dx5e dsmx. I'm getting so frustrated now. New model and new radio gear. But cant fly it. Arghhh.
  24. Hi chris. Thanks for the info. Doesnt apply to my tx however it gave me an idea. Emailed the model shop to see if any other tx's have been reported with the same prob. Fingers crossed they may be able to give me some info. Its got us all stumped.
  25. Hi all, Well today was supposed to be maiden flight with my nice new shiny seagull swift 40 complete with my nice new shiny spektrum dx5e(dsmx). A slight problem occured though. When my instructor plugged the buddy lead into the old jr tx and then to the dsmx.................. zilch...nada. Now the club use the old style dx5e and this works no prob.   Question is. Is there a new type lead for the dsmx . Or does anyone have any ideas.   I really dont want to go back flying the clubs boomerang. I have my own now and would really like to train on it.
