NYE JETS kero burn July 11/12 2015
Andy Green replied to Jamie Cuff's topic in Shows, Club Events and Competitions
I was there on the Sunday Nev, sorry to have missed you. You going on the meet 1/2 Aug. Andy -
Hi Mike You need to look at the Offset command, Not sure what it looks like on a T8J. Have you seen Malcolm Holts book on the 14SG, sure some of the programming methodology is similar. Andy

Anyone used these RX batteries?
Andy Green replied to Adrian Smith 1's topic in Batteries and Chargers
Just the first charge Adrian, I find I don't get false peaks once they have cycled. A -
Anyone used these RX batteries?
Andy Green replied to Adrian Smith 1's topic in Batteries and Chargers
Yep, have several packs, of various capacities. Fast delivery too. As will all NiMh batteries keep an eye on the initial charge, as new they might trigger the delta spike early and give a false full charge. I usually give them an initial charge using an old wall wart charger, Andy -
Hi Anyone know how to best set up my iPhone to read the RSS feeds from the BMFA Classifieds website. Andy

This is my installation in my 1/4 scale Pup. Could probably tidy the wires a bit. The spark plugs are the same size threads as glow plugs, and are a straight swap. Andy Edited By Andy Green on 15/07/2015 15:21:02

Hi Paul The Rx battery (see what I did there) can be placed anywhere within reason, pack it in foam to keep it isolated from vibration. Its is usual practice to use this weight to help balance the model, so if your model requires nose weight to balance try to get the battery as far forward as possible. Andy

I have converted by Saito 180 to spark ignition, but still use glow fuel. It has tamed the engine, given me a great low idle, and because of a fixed timing position has improved fuel economy. No need to change compression or carb. I can also recommend this guy for his products and service. Andy

Smaller slope soaring wing plans?
Andy Green replied to Foxfan's topic in Slope Soaring and Dynamic Soaring
Another late entry - the Plouf. Sorry no direct link to the plan. Andy -
Just file (sanding it too hard) a rough shape around the join, to accommodate the solder / wire wrap. Maybe post a pic of your problem. I rounded the front of mine with a razor plane (a must have tool if you are a builder) and finished off with a sand, I have these sanding jigs which make the jobs quite simple. A

Hi I've built the 1/4 scale one you can see the build on my website. There are some pic of the cabanes, I used Ronsil wood stain to finish the wood. As Michael says the wire take the strain, but the wood stops the bending. Andy

NYE JETS kero burn July 11/12 2015

First visit to a jet event (as a spectator), really fantastic day (rain included) So much to look at, and so much advice, I think my head it still spinning. Looking forward to the next event, and even more so looking forward to the day I can join in. Thanks guys Andy -
Problem here is if you buy a kit for say £60 (not checked what a JR 60 is these days) and spend a couple of weeks putting it together, we don't see that as adding value. Its second hand and only worth £25. How much is someones time worth to put one together. Ask Fighter Aces for a price to build it Andy

Looks superb, signing up to follow along. Andy

Do you think its because all these rules stem from one place. (I'm not gong to say it - too chicken) and you know how that organisation is run. Andy
-
Tell me about it... It seems worse if like us you have 2 sites. Just cant shake the them and us, we even split the flying between odd and even days between the 2 sites to reduce our noise impact and encourage mixing, but it doesn't work. I'd love to say more and describe some of the antics but as Chair I have to keep my council. Andy

I have an interest in foam, I think its an area of the hobby (simple & Cheap) that I've been missing out on, but I'd be a viewer not a contributor. Andy

Lovely build Sam, certainly raised the bar with this one. Andy

Will epoxy resin fuel proof?
Andy Green replied to Foxfan's topic in Building from Traditional Kits and Plans
Indeed Bob. Solartex is sold as fuel proof, but..... I've never found it so, so always blow over with some Klass Kote. Oratext on the other hand is fuel proof, as my 5 year old Astro Hog prooves. Andy -
Will epoxy resin fuel proof?
Andy Green replied to Foxfan's topic in Building from Traditional Kits and Plans
Epoxy is fuel proof, and the west stuff would be ideal for painting around the engine bearers and fuel tank. Epoxy is available for spray finishing I use Klass Kote, but not sure if the west system will thin enough to be sprayed. Andy -
I was asked to renew this website (I run the domain) in the hope that someone could be found to pick it up and run it again in the same vein as Reg did. I would cover all hosting fees. This archive will be removed at the end of August, so last chance. Andy
