  1. Hi Tim, If you had bought a nice PAW diesel engine you would'nt have had to buy starters, batteries etc.   Having posted this little bit of mischief I'm off to hide in the safety of my w/shop.
  2.  Eric, Holidays are what retired people like me never get !  Actually Eric, life is just one long holiday now... AND IT'S GREAT !!!
  3.  Hi David, I have no idea of your skill level or if you have w/shop facilities but have you thought about making them yourself ?? Alex. Whittacker wrote an article on the subject of wheels in RCME a short while ago, I can't remember which issue it was but if I can find it I could copy it and post it to you.  Is this any help ?? Allan
  4.  Hi Paul & Rick, Any attempt at "tempering" piano wire is doomed to failure... IT JUST DOESN'T LIKE IT !!
  5.  Hi Keith, Just a simple question... Did you read the instructions that came with your engine ???
  6.  Hi Peter, I  built a Majestic Major some time ago ( It's a scaled up Junior 60 ) It isn't what I would call difficult to build but it pays to take your time and read the plan carefully.
  7.  Was it really the best ? Some years ago I worked with chap who flew both the spitfire and the hurricane in WW2, he was of the opinion that his survival chances were better in the latter a/c as cannon shells from bf109 's would go through a hurricane without exploding due to the fabric covering !
  8.  Could it be that pine trees have an affinity with carbon fibre ?
  9.  Hi David, Why not review something from the following ?  DB Sport & Scale....Chris Foss Designs  Progress Aero Works (  PAW Engines) Lovely Diesel Engines !!  I'm still backing Britain forty odd years on from the campaign !!
  10.  Hi Simon, As I seem to be the only one on this forum who knows of your family background I can say with little chance of being corrected that you must have the sort of knowledge most of us would die for !
  11.  Just tried the SLEC website. it doesn't seem to be working properly yet.  We shall just have to use the phone as you suggest ,won't we !!!
  12.  Hi David, SLEC do have a website.  www.Slecuk.com  Regards Allan
  13.  Eric, believe it or not, I did on one occasion make a coathanger from piano wire !! My wife complained that her coat hangers were too bendy and lost shape rather too quickly... one made from piano wire is still in use to-day.
  14.  Hi Paul, as Myron says ,your problem seems to be poor quality material. Get yourself some decent  quality "PIANO WIRE" What you have sounds like coat hanger wire. I always buy mine from SLEC  .
  15.  Hi Myron, who cares if it's in the wrong place, it looks great !!!
  16. Hi  fly navy, if you do decide to go "velcro " I can assure you that you will be pleased with the end result, I changed to this type about fours ago because I got fed up with trying to remove worn out discs, they are very easy to change if you need to change from one grit to another. I wouldn't use any other kind now. Regards Allan
  17. What would we do without you Timbo ??
  18.  Hi John, Much as I hate to say it, I think you have a real problem with this engine. It needs sorting out.
  19. Gents, What is all this talk of ASDA & WATERFIELDS do you not have wives who bake cakes for you ??  As I type this the smell of cakes baking in the oven is filling the house !!
  20.  Hi Timbo, You haven't offended me in any way, you are just doing your job as moderator mate !!  Regards Allan
  21.  Hi Owen, Glad I got rid of my Rover 820, where would I have to go ??
  22.  Hi Timbo, Before I made the posting I contacted my supplier who confirmed that it was a real nasty.
  23.  Hi Ken, not really a problem for me as I drive an estate car, I'm sure that the wing could be made in two sections though, what does Mr Browne think ?
  24. Hi All, If you buy via mail-order watch out for an e-mail telling you that delivery could not be made due to incomplete address details, it pretends that it comes from United Parcel Service... THIS E-MAIL HAS A VERY NASTY VIRUS HIDDEN IN IT. THIS IS THE ADDRESS ...  "United Parcel Sevices" [email protected]
