Thanks for the info Justin 👍 Paul. Me too. It's a nice short sweet put-down. Is there a correct spelling? Gordon Great I'm glad you like it , it's not a put down tho more of an observation. Use it wisely and it's rewarding, for instance if you were to take the time & effort to post a link or information that someone clearly hasn't taken the time to digest before posting out of date info or the subject then a woosh is good. Spelling by the way is entirely dependent on regional dialect, so feel free to whoosh your own way. Anyway back to the topic ehh ?
  2. Posted by Bill_B on 18/03/2017 09:19:12: I wonder what thoughts Ali Machinchy has on this issue..... A bit of trepidation I would imagine? The same as any employee who see's restructuring, closures and redundancies occurring within the company that employs you. That's just life tho unfortunately we've all been there.
  3. Glad to help Paul , you've just missed an opening.
  4. Posted by Paul C. on 17/03/2017 21:47:19: Any chance of explaining what a 'woosh ' 😦 The woosh is to point out that the key information on what has happened seems to have gone woosh straight over the heads of some on the thread. It's been fairly common knowledge that Horizon are pulling out of the UK and as Guvner points out in his post redundancy notices have unfortunately been handed out. So in reality no one has been "caught on the hop" its just an out of date web page.

I've answered in your other post. ELEVON is the answer when you start to program the plane , page 30 in the manual.
  6. When you first started the program for that plane did you tell the TX it was ELEVON ? On the initial page ? If so then one servo into channel 2 and one in 7 or 8 and it should work , you will probably have to reverse one on the channels. Page 30 in the manual. Edited By Justin K. on 17/03/2017 21:20:23
  7. Posted by Gordon Whitehead 1 on 17/03/2017 15:30:10: Page 27 of the latest RCME has a pointer to the latest gen. It tells us to visit www.horizonhobby.eu Surfing that site, eventually you'll find in the FAQs that there is a service centre in UK. http://www.horizonhobby.co.uk/service-advice/index.html Hope this helps. Gordon Wooosshhh
  8. I have an 8J I bought last year as a backup and to use as a buddy to teach my son. Very nice radio even compared to my more expensive 14sg. There don't seem to have been any issues of note on the forums etc and the FHSS protocol is as good as the FASST system, buy with confidence I would say.
  9. Posted by Braddock, VC on 10/03/2017 20:35:48: Justin, bloody hell that was easy. Photos I uploaded are not good but the procedure is spot on. When I get my glasses cleaned, I'll see you all right . Glad to be of help , I take all major cards Essjay I will have a look at that , cheers.
  10. Ok seems to be an issue because they were screen shots, In a nutshell Braddock from IPhone , log in on iPhone tap albums in the red section at the top of the screen, tap create an album , tap add photos this should prompt the iPhone to show a list of options , tap photo library, this will put the photo into the stacking choose file list , when you've added scroll down and tap the upload button. Hey presto hopefully it should have worked ?
  11. Iv'e just taken a step by step series of pictures on my Iphone in an attempt to help but they are not loading onto the site as they normally do so I suggest its an issue with the site at the moment. This forum doesn't seem to cope well with smartphones at the best of times but this issue is a new one.
  12. We had one on finals coming into San Francisco on a flight from Dallas. A Japan air 747 looked to be landing at the same time as us and deployed his gear at the same time as the 737 we were on. I thought we would touchdown in unison on the second runway and that it would be great to see , the tower obviously had other ideas and he banked away sharply pulling up his gear as he went. I spoke to the co pilot as we got off and he confirmed it had been an error by pilot of the Jumbo, scary now but at the time not knowing it was wrong I thought it was great coming in neck & neck.
  13. Charles, are these "skinned" sections at the ends ? If so that's how they should be.
  14. There are literally thousands of internet pages concerning issues , you pay your money & make your choice. Horizon are great (or were) and will change an RF board willingly, all after the event tho unfortunately. I've witnessed to many issues to ever tempt me to buy one. They look nice in the black tho with that solid aerial, like the grim reaper
  15. Posted by Jon Harper - Laser Engines on 04/03/2017 15:47:39: I would dowel the holes and then put a thin ply plate on the front to help keep the drill straight when making th new holes. I really like the wings though, is it one piece of printed vinyl? I've been offered an adjustable mount from a club mate so I'm going to give that a go tomorrow. Yes Jon I'm lucky to have my pick from the trade , it's a fairly thin vinyl and as well as looking what I was wanting it will offer protection to the underside covering as the struts collapse down onto the wing for storage & transportation. The chap who has the mount has just finished a plane that houses one of your twins so I'm looking foreword to seeing that too.
  16. Posted by Colin Carpenter on 04/03/2017 13:05:30: Looks very nice indeed , Justin. Colin 😀 A bit different for me Colin, I've got some crew & passengers for this one too.
  17. Posted by trebor on 04/03/2017 13:04:37: Dowel and epoxy will be stronger than the ply anyway should be ok. You could put some thin ply inside for the nutserts to go through as well. The quicker route too Bob.
  18. Posted by cymaz on 04/03/2017 13:04:23: Dowel and epoxy...if it were me. Get a decent engine mount. Any triangle stock on the inside corners? Edited By cymaz on 04/03/2017 13:05:47 Yes its not to bad for an ARTF triangle section on all 4 sides. So you would go the new mount route ?
  19.   Hmm that's a pain, do I fill the holes with 5mm dowel and epoxy or replace the beam mounts with an adjustable one piece mount hoping for better hole positions ??     Edited By Justin K. on 04/03/2017 12:57:28
  20. Posted by trebor on 03/03/2017 18:49:29: Can you get it in your car ? Yes it's a fairly short fuselage Bob , I did check first tho as I have been caught out in the past 😂
  21. Posted by cymaz on 03/03/2017 18:34:46: Engine inverted...why spoil one side of that nice cowl Yes my thoughts too , it's a pumper so I will go inverted. Hopefully I will get some more done over the weekend, not as if flying is going to get in the way looking at the forecast.
  22. Tail section done , the aluminium boss mounted in the base of the horizontal stabiliser made this a simple task as everything lined up perfectly. The manual calls for the rudder to be hinged before assembling the tail section but this is incorrect as if you did it would make the bottom rudder to airframe hinge impossible to fit. Dry fitting the parts before committing with adhesive saved the day here. On to the engine mount next , sideways as per the book or inverted is the question ?
  23. Posted by cymaz on 26/02/2017 09:11:06: Oh nice....should definitely know which way is down Yes let's hope , on to the tail feathers next. I did the elevator hinges yesterday, not sure if I will get a chance to do much today.
  24. With a wing span of 2 meters it should have a nice presence on the ground and in the air. Unfortunately this version doesn't have flaps just some pretty chunky ailerons taking up around 40% of the wing. There are 4 threaded inserts in each wing to take some brass turnbuckles that are used to attach the wing struts, 2 in my model were very tight with what seemed like excess glue binding the thread so a little care was needed to clear these. I was very impressed with the Hangar 9 100cc Decathlon when I saw one at an LMA show a couple of years ago , this version has a black & white striped covering on the underside of the wing so I decided to replicate that detail on mine rather than use the supplied chequered pattern supplied. I had some vinyl printed at work and applied it wet to the covering and I'm pleased with the result.
