Apparently when they die they give of a chemical signal which if detected by other nearby wasps is their cue that the nest is under attack and lord help any living thing in the vicinity. If you kill a wasp make sure he doesn`t have any mates nearby. Thats exactly what the pest controler told me,he reckons that i prob rubbed one off me in my sleep and the wasp signaled the others in this way triggering the attack..
  2. i live in an old farm house SC so my nearest neighbours about a 100 yrds away who just happens to be my sister. i moved into hers until the pest controller had been and given my place the all clear, but even he went for reinforcements when he saw the size of the main nest that filled 4 black bin liners when they removed it.
  3. i havn't seen any wasps yet this year YET.But last year i had five nests all up,3 in the ground in the garden and 2 in my loft.Only realised they were in the loft when i was rudly awakened by a swarm one morning stinging for all they were worth, luckily only my legs were uncovered in the bed but in exess of 80 stings per leg and a few on me body as i flew into the street in me undies was quite refreshing.

  5. i grew up with bikes, went through the usual sports bike list- RGV's,Gxsr's,Rc30,zxr's etc then gave up on the road when i realized that my zx10r was just too much bike for our roads and took up motocross. That turned out to be a bad move, got involved in a first jump pile up in a race and have been out of action since last june.Waiting for an op now to try to restore feelling to my righ leg. As soon as i'm mobile there'll be a new zx10r in the garage. Edited By Del Wheatley on 16/04/2012 10:25:02 Edited By Del Wheatley on 16/04/2012 10:25:30

Cheers VA The other important fact overlooked with the use of bio diesels is that oil service intervals are halved due to the contamination caused by the bio stuff, plus we also found that fuel filters would last half as long before clogging.(Testing done with mercedes) so you will save a bit on the fuel but double your servicing costs.
  7. Posted by Codename-John on 29/03/2012 10:06:20: ive just had to fill my van up, it was at the bottom light on etc, took me 15 mins in the queue at a morrisons that usually this time of day theres one or 2 other vehicles at the whole forecourt, Im wondering as it being nearly the end of the tax year if the Government are just trying to get a bit more tax in, bump spending up a bit etc so they dont look as bad financially as we all actually know the state of the country, if they can bump their numbers up a bit by people panic buying fuel groceries and the like they may look idiots for a few days but if we get a double dip recession it`ll be remembered a lot longer you sound as cynical as me.my thinking was that since the american trip and the decision to release oil stocks then they need to shift as much fuel as possible before the price of oil drops that few dollars a barrel,so they can cream that bit of extra tax first.
  8. The heavy landing was all down to me Steve,it was my first attempt and i lost height way too quickly and was going to fast. As soon as the posties been i'll be out on the farm to try again.
  9. Well the beguine and myself had our first ever flight together. The first hand launch went about 10 foot then hit the floor but no damage done so i gave it a firmer lob and away she went, after a few frantic oh my god i'm flying moments i settled down and flew all around the field behind my house. The landing was a bit heavy, bent a landing leg, snapped the prop and bent the motor shaft but the replacement parts will be here tomorrow ready for round 2.
  10. Evening all I have an overlander T2826/14 and i have managed to bend the shaft. I can't seem to find any new ones for sale after searching around, any ideas where to look please. Thanks
  11. I've just had a similar problem with aerokote,i fuel proofed the engine bay etc on my sky 40 and a week later it's still slightly tacky to the touch. It took about 5 days to dry down o this level and seems to have stopped getting any dryer now. It was mixed exactly as per the instructions and was bought at a similar time to the op's bottle but from a different store.

  16. Posted by Stephen Grigg on 06/02/2012 08:41:05: We have just successfully had change of use granted for our field for the same reason ,a complaint by 1 person after 26 years of flying. She is now complaining even more, even though we do not fly in the area of her home, but now we cannot be stopped as long as we abide by the club rules and fly in non sensitive air space.  Don't be so sure you can't be stopped, only last week a track we use had permission removed to run. They had a complaint of noise, the council investigated and found it to be running within the noise limits etc of their planning permission but still the council comitee voted to withdraw permission and order the track flattened.
  17. Posted by kc on 04/02/2012 12:21:55: Most of us bought our razor planes years ago and they last for ever. So Del, tell us the make & supplier of the plane you bought recently, to help others.. Is it metal or plastic? Of course if you haven't gashed your finger with the plane yet you are not that experienced........yet! Its the corner of blade projecting through the sole that catches you out!    No problem, the plane was brought from SLEC is made of metal and made by solingen. It cost £5.10p.I've been real lucky so far i haven't even managed to catch myself with a knife or anything yet.  *runs off to touch wood* lol
  18. Just a quick tip for beginner builders. The post man delivered a razor plane for me today, what a time saving peice of kit it is.If your taking up building from scratch it's a must have in your tool kit it's saved me loads of time shaping a balsa block.
  19. Jon L You are right in saying that there will be some that can and will be massivley academically trained and be very practical,my statement is based on my personal experiance of 28yrs in my chosen trade.sorry if i have caused any offence  The model in my pics is a Nijhuis Sky 40,i also have a west wings Beguine on the build table as well.I think i'm going to be one of the modelers that enjoys the building more than the flying.About 20 years ago i built a Brian Taylor spitfire just because the model shop said it was to hard for a beginer, had no interest in flying it and gave it away to a local flyer when done.
