  1. I'm in Nottingham. What do you mean by recycle.
  2. Ether is no problem at all. I have gallons of the stuff.
  3. Posted by Tomtom39 on 01/05/2014 10:49:44: I got some quite a few years ago via a airfield fuel supply co in Aton, Hants . Details of the co are as follows:- http://www.aircraftfuel.co.uk/index.html Thanks for the contact, I have sent them an email. I'll let you know what response I get.
  4. I'm mixing competition diesel fuel for high performance diesel engines used in vintage control line combat. Currently using Bartoline paraffin from Homebase & wanted to try Jet A1 to see if there was any performance benefits.
  5. I am aware what Jet A1 is, just need to know where I can get it from. Currently using a mix of, ether, castor oil, paraffin (from homebase) & Dii3
  6. I'm mixing diesel fuel & it's been recommended by an engine builder/tuner.
  7. Can anyone tell me where I can get Jet A1 from. Have tried a couple of places but being told they cannot resell unless it's going into an aircraft. Cheers
  8. Hi Danny Tamiya do a smoke paint, it's quite watery and can be brushed on adding layers makes it darker so quite easy to blend and fade. the only down side is it is a glossy finish.
  9. I am really quite peed off with this kit at the moment & blackhorse, I would seriousley consider my next purchase, if it were to be a blackhorse kit I think not !! I have had a lot of problems with this kit. 1st major biggie was the tail plane, it did'nt align square to the wings, when the tube was inserted & the tail planes slid on, they were not square with the fuselage, I had to elongate the tube hole in the fuse to allow it to line up square & then used resin & microfibre to set it in place. 2nd biggie is the undercarrige !! what a joke this has turned out to be. 1st the kits had upgraded retracts supplied, so the mounting holes in the wings had to be moved as the new Oleos were longer. The Oleos themsevles are made of cheese !! so last week after loosening the screws around the retract spigot to line the wheels up fore & aft the threads in the cheese were not able to be retightened sufficiently to stop the legs from wobbeling around on the spigots, seeing that this is going to cause a failure in the future, I have now decided to order some new Custom Made Oleos from Unitracts for a cost of £40, so this is the 3rd set of retracts/Oleos & it's not even got off the ground yet !!!! As I have said before the hardware supplied with this kit is of poor quality, most of the screws are made from the same cheese as the Oleos. Do I feel any better now ?   No not really !!! 12. Posted by 3bears on 25/01/2013 04:13:05: Danny, you asked about the left/right switch on the two landing lights. This would be to achieve redundancy - landing light bulbs have a short life, so it's nice to switch in the other when the first fails. If both were on together, both would be likely to fail at about the same time I had heard or read somewhere recently that the reason for the left right light was, they were about 750W each, the onboard generator/dynamo could only support one light & it was pilot preference as to which one they used ?? 13. Posted by PaulH on 23/01/2013 11:45:33: Never knew it existed, but doesn't seem to be very useful as a word document for each year. It would be a wonderful reference in conjunction with the digital copies if it was on-line and you could just click on the index and go to the article you wanted to read. Now that WOULD be cool
  14. Just found the link to it, didn't know it existed. I will use it now but why isn't it somewhere more prominent ?
  15. Posted by cymaz on 23/01/2013 09:20:53: I have used these I have these in service at the moment. Futaba do HD switches that I have also used. I must say that I have not suffered black wire corrosion before but I would think that using the same switch 13 years would be a bit much. I think I would change them.
  16. Posted by Paul Brough on 21/01/2013 21:28:40: ( Dominator and Warlord wings with AM 25 scarred and battered fingers from them on cold Sunday mornings!) into RC in the late 80's Dominator and Warlord, Those were the days. Sorry cant help with the Intruder but welcome & hope you get it sorted.
  17. Posted by John Cole on 18/01/2013 13:47:09: I think any problem is likely to be caused by humidity / condensation rather than low temps. In which case a dehumidifier is going to be cheaper to run than an electric heater. I use one. I have a de-humidifier ticking over but also have a small storage radiator on a timer to run on eco7
  18. Aggghhhh Wingman 666 posts, quick post again before it gets you !!!!!!
  19. Did'nt even know this place existed, just had a look at the website & will definately be making a visit this year. Also what a great story of the Lancaster.
  20. I got, amongst a few other regulars, smellies/socks etc. an Acrowot ARTF & a Devilbis DAGR airbrush.
  21. Posted by Ian Jones on 21/12/2012 16:21:36: If turning it upside down significantly alters the relationship of the tank to the carb position (i.e. makes the tank lower or more importantly higher) then yes it would be affected. If the mid line of the tank is inline with the carb then it shouldn't make any noticeable difference. I have noted that on my Tucano the tank bung/centre line is about 1" higher than the carb !!
  22. Rusty, see my post page 2, mine doesn't like being inverted. But having followed this thread with interest I have every confidence that I will be able to make it work and, I think, so will you. Some very good tips have come to light from some knowledgable people
  23. A very interesting thread & I will be keen to know the outcome. I have exactly the same problem with an OS91FS in a Tucano, even brought an SC91FS & gave the same problem. Checked & rechecked tank, plumbing, needle, carb, valves, plug to no avail. Have now put an Irvine 60 2 Stroke in & runs great. Next step was I bought a test stand & bolted the OS91FS to the workmate & to be honest wasn't expecting what happened next, you guessed it, fired it up 1st time & ran great. The only difference is in the Tucano it's inverted, on the test bench it's not.
  24. Hi Ted Like the look of your build pics, the weathering makes it look different. What kind of paint/technique did you use. I am new to all that kind of thing & it frightens the hell out of me in case I get it wrong !!
