Is the one that is running okay mounted differently? i.e. not inverted as in this p51... just a thought as I had an 82 in a P51 mounted inverted and it did sound a little like this, fuel also syphoned to the carb due to its position relative to the tank position, my P51 was an ARTF and the tank position was pretty much fixed.. Flew fine but did like to cut out in flight, its demise (for this reason) came when it landed out in another field.. I am guessi but maybe the tank vs carb posn ? Good luck with , sounds fine as the revs come in.
  2. As mentioned, the four stroke will give it power in a different way and with less revs that a two stroke, to match the performance of the two stroke you'll need a bogger four stroke and the best prop for the flying style - aero's or scale..
  3. Posted by Shaunie on 03/11/2015 20:24:04: In my experience most glow clips start falling off in the end! My Rip Max glow starter started falling off recently, with the careful use of a small hammer to close the jaws up it stays on a treat again! Shaunie. I'd second that solution Shaunie.. shouldn't any more than this,,, unless its cream crackered! Then I'd go the new glow route...
  4. VicB.. pretty sure you have nothing to worry over here. So long as you say it is a copy of the original to the buyer, you are not breaking any laws, youre telling the truth..! A problem with this arrises if you try to make a business passing them off as originals.. I copy all plans I build from, so I can have the "original" on the wall to refer too, the other I cut to work from on the building board..
  5. Each to there own.. however I am in the 2.4 AND 35mhz camp, never had any bother from either system... therefore, rude not too..
  6. Posted by MattyB on 28/10/2015 19:10:29: Agreed - I suspect the driver for this was primarily financial, as they are obviously withholding the final touchdown from that video above for the souvenir DVD/Blu-ray. Nothing wrong with that I suppose; the trust has done a fantastic job keeping her flying so long, but I suspect aviation nuts would have preferred the final flight be one of the "grand tours" rather than a quick whiz around Doncaster airport. The video says a broadcast glitch occurred when the landing was filmed! The landing can in full be seen at 47:10! The reason the final flight was not announced was due to the airport being over run with spectators last time, passengers missed holiday flights due to the roads being blocked! Shame as I would have gone to see here today, superb take off.. then again, they always were...
  7. I was once one of the yournger members in our club in my 50's! I can echo most of the comments on here, there does seem to be a poor take up.. Fergus, do you have any friends outside of modelling who maybe interested in the sport? As many have said, dont see the age thing as disadvantage.. I'm sure your fellow club members still remember being your age and will be only to happy to pass on information/tales of daring do.. both on and off the field.. Does your club have a pie and pint night? a few of us do this and it helps to get to know people; especially on short winter days.. Good for a natter about your latest project and all sorts..
  8. Lads, our site is unpublished to all but members.. The neighbours know we are there, but we have been there longer than many of them.. We do not have a website!
  9. Posted by Engine Doctor on 18/10/2015 11:38:26: 28 days is the rule , but who's watching or counting . Your local PLA will not have the funding or manpower to sit ,wait and watch to catch you . They will only respond to a written complaint from a neighbour . Our club recently acquired a certificate of lawful use or limited planning permission after using the same field for over ten years without complaint or the LPA even knowing we were there. So just go and use it but keep a record of rent ,usage , names and addresses of people using it etc and in ten years you could (if its still available ) apply for a CLU . PS good luck . Edited By Engine Doctor on 18/10/2015 11:39:59 Edited By Engine Doctor on 18/10/2015 11:40:41 I understand the point being made here, however it will more than likely be the unhappy neighbour or someone who has taken an exception to your hobby/presence.. who would keep a record of your activities! Remember, such people have access to resources too! and they do not always need to be planning department of local authorities. It can be a friend of a friend who is in planning, family who is the same or legally trained. Could even be a neighbour in the parish council who is all the above but doesnt want to make a fuss (bless) but happy to provide the bullets for others to fire and stand back and watch. We gained CoU as we could prove over ten years at the site without any issues; a new neighbour moved in locally and decided they did not like us! They then kept records/a diary to "prove we were doing wrong".. This showed us two things, 1) we had a rogue flyer at the site who was not a member and abused all boundaries. 2) out recorded keeping was much better than the complainant, this "person" had us down for flying all day every day in wind and rain, beyond twilight too.... The council saw through this and wrote the a short curt letter to this "mean" individual and we carried on as we were.. Good advice from ChrisB, I'd observe the considerable experience and guidance on this thread; its hard won and free! Get the BMFA to provide some input and carry on as you are with a watching brief.. and if you do hear anything from neighbours. get it nipped in the bud and if this can be done by some of the "club elders" so much the better as its a great (free) way to manage your profile locally..

    CMAX Anyone?

Posted by Donald Fry on 16/10/2015 11:30:25: I am glad to see a car topic discussing sensible things. Exactly Donald... to be applauded.
  11. We got change of use by default at the site with farmers support and assistance. The log in book was proof we have been there more than 10yrs.. this helped when the council were looking into a noise complaint around 5-6yrs ago. Once they established we had records of our activities going back over 10yrs, they realised change of use by default came into effect and they could not fight it; and didnt! So it can have its benefits.. why not ask the lads in the BMFA.. they know best how a club should position itself to protect its interest, along with some expereince on here too.. Hope this helps..

What a fantastic sight and racket! Thanks for sharing
  13. Saw you from the bottom of the Orme chaps, however with the "ladies" in tow and being cheif entertainments provider for the day I was unable to venture up and enjoy the views and breeze.. Good to see you had a great time, weather was spot on..
  14. Agree wholeheartedly Ken! My view is that any mag needs circulation to survive; with prices going up and competition down (in the RC arena).. their formulae needs to adapt and be spot on or sales targets wont be met and serious questions asked. I have trimmed down my magazine consumption as titles have closed and lost quality content in my view; the saving is startling.. it is not one I was trouble spending! (upgraded to a DX9 with the savings for my leccy fleet) Its a shame as I appreciate it is a way for me to support the hobby I have enjoyed for a very long time.. Similarly at the shows, a bit “samey” for me too.. so I have trimmed these too as we don’t get to see models we can go and buy “traders slots” .. its does appear to be all bling and models that wont fit the club field we frequent..?? Why..? Besides, after half a day I always wish I was down my local field having a fly after watching them.. I appreciate it’s a tough challenge, the never ending retail trait of “pass on the costs to the consumer” but this is dead in the water these days and some imaginative thinking and leadership is needed to get the right results.. Still some are employed to do this, we shall wait and see how it develops.. It needs too if they want MY money!
  15. Looks just the job leccy! Ideal for EDF and smaller gliders to get up if on tow etc.. Thanks for that
  16. Who has done the editorial page this time? I cant read the signature, it is not undersigned and photo is so small I dont recognise the individual and the content is somewhat unclear! If it is showing £4.75, the its trade descriptions! What is going on here? I was disappointed to be told the price was £5.99 at the tills, and now it should have been £4.75.. ? Is someone pulling my chain here ?
  17. Lads, I have seen and had the 2 litre bottles this year in Aldi! I think they must be getting them in again as one of the specials from time to time.. not regular though.. but I had it and it seems to be BACK ! I remember a school friend as a lad, his mother made ginger beer and we loved it!! I remember calling around and it "growing" in a collection of demijohns! Never lost a taste for it after those days
  18. Superb day! Great weather, flying and airplanes.. Thanks to Ian and Chris and the lads of DMFC.. Cheers Looking forward to next year already.. How a fun day should be
  19. Posted by Erfolg on 11/10/2015 18:11:26: Perhaps it is worth noting that there will soon be a A V Roe Museum at Woodford. I for one fully intend visiting. Dont forgot it was this airfield where the Lancs were converted for the Dambusters raid, all the crews visited to collected their aircraft after the mods at Woodford.. such a shame no great tribute to the UK aviation heritage is being made at the site.. Be nice if they also let the model club stay too A local pub has pictures of Guy Gibson and some of his crew having a drink at the bar back in the day, when the came up to collect the Lancs and test them.. The last civil aviation airliners produced in the UK were at Woodford; the Bae146 and ATP! Lets not forget too the Nimrods, Victors and the Vulcans.. It was a special place in the 70s to see all that military hardware coming through the airfield.. super airshows too....
  20. Posted by FilmBuff on 09/10/2015 20:02:07: I am underwhelmed by both content and print quality. Did not have the feel of a Special somehow. and the £5.99 charge... These costs are going up for less content and when printing methods are much simpler and cheaper... (I know there is a free plan, but if the price is hiked; it isnt free!).. With two RC models titles closing in the last 24mths, I really dont feel content should be such a problem! Maybe its me, but as a long term reader (30yrs); its disappointing.... I gave my copy away today... I kept the other "special" editions for reference..
  21. Super pictures there chaps, well done! it looks like you had a super day out too! They all look real Well done!
  22. See you up the hill Cymaz, perfect day indded enjoy an extra sausage!!
  23. Same here, does anyone know the time she is getting airborne so the schedule can be worked out?
  24. It does appear to be moving to beeter forecasts each day! This can only be good news.. so lets hope it will be an excellent day for all..
  25. Would this same canopy fit the sportsman aviation one? I have looking for a spare for mine! Watching with interest, thanks.
