  1. thanks guys, appreciate your input - the current Fantasia fuse is built like a tank and way too heavy. Going to rebuild it and base it loosely on the existing fantasia plan. But make it significantly lighter. Going to use the existing *heavy* fantasia wings but put some lightweight spoilers in. The following kit will be going in it as proven on E-Calc Overlander Tornado Thumper V3 2836/08 1120KV upfront. HS-82MG servos 25 amp ESC + backup UBEC 10X6 prop Meter shows it generates just over 20amps and around 230 watts which should hopefully get her in the air Curious : On the Rhapsody plan what is the recommended downthrust angle? From pictures of the Rhapsody it appears to have a single sided elevator hinge. I'll be honest I've not seen this before, seems like a good idea - did it never catch on?
  2. hi - yes have already emailed the Balsa Cabin, but pretty sure everything was sold to Flying Ace who is no longer trading. I was interested to see what the differences were between Fantasia and Rhapsody fuselage. I know the fuselage is wider on e version but the moment arm looks shorter and tailset smaller too. thanks
  3. Hi would anyone still have a plan for the old Balsa Cabin Rhapsody glider. I have the 100" Fantasia plan but looking for the electric version called the Rhapsody. I'm converting fantasia and rebuilding the fuselage. Looking for reference points from the Rhapsody plan if someone not prepared to give up the plan. I've read all the previous threads here relating to the Rhapsody but seems people involved are not around anymore. many thanks David Edited By Cirrus on 18/02/2020 09:20:08
  4. enjoyed the show. Shame didn't see Ali's new Lightening but some good models on show + full size and pyro made the entrance fee worth while. They seriously need to include a flight schedule in the price though.
  5. FT was tempting, but too new for my liking. I need a proven transmitter + software. I'm not the early adopter type
  6. yeah agreed. Optima 7's are £35 and Optima 6's are £32. I held both the A9 and 14SG yesterday. Considering 14SG is £400+ was amazed how much it looked and felt like a toy (very much like my Dx6i). A9 felt very solid, although opposite end of the scale and felt overly heavy. Grip was much better though which will make DLG usage easier. For the price and features I cannot pass up on the A9. Ordering monday morning and will pick up at next weekends show.
  7. Need to try them out in the flesh but looking to upgrade my trusty DX6i. Will likely go for the A9 based on price and telemetry but a quick quesiton about the Futaba's I've read reports that the alarm is really quiet. Is it it really that bad? I can't find any video on YouTube highlighting the issue. If the 14SG had speech I'd probably stump up the extra £200 for it. (I know it might be coming in the future but no guarantees). Also what are your thoughts on transmitters that vibrate? Do transmitter ciruit boards + vibration modules make a good combination? (DX8 suggests not).
  8. Working away on business a lot at the moment in Gloucester. As a result I am missing out on flying when weather is perfect. Thinking about taking my Radian Pro with me but need somewhere to fly it on the sly one of the evenings. Not interested in joining a club as already a member of 2 local clubs. Any suggestions? Looking on google there is a lot of farm land available, but would prefer a recommendation of where I could launch the glider from without getting my ass kicked. cheers
  9. Personally I never charge in advance. Increases risk of fire and degrades life of pack. If you must do this, then ensure they are left in a constant temp environment and the cooler the better. Fully charged over 30 degrees C will degrade pack badly.
  10. Anyone replaced the wheel axle yet on their wot 4? Pilot error yesterday resulted in me shearing off the wheel axle bolt. Looking for a replacement. Might have to improvise.
  11. stock on mine was break off, which means prop will windmill round with no throttle on the glide. Leave it as is for now, see what you think. I've put the break on as I found it added drag on landing approach windmilling and also it confused me as to whether I had cut throttle or not. good luck with the maiden.
  12. bump............ I'm after some 9.5mm carbon tube for my Radian Pro wingspar. Found 2 places in the UK but they don't seem interested due to small sale. Any suggestions or links? thanks
  13. Agreed - the 40A ESC is fine. It was the 30amp ESC that was in adequate. Only thing I've had to do to mine is pack and glue the engine mount as was becoming a little lose. But that is after nearly 100 flights.
  14. I've put the break on mine. Means I now nkow reliably whether I'm under power or not on approach which is great. Also means the prop does not windmill and slow me down on approach when the power is cut (some like the break off so windmilling slows the plane down if coming in too fast). Mine has a great glide. You sure the CG is correct? With stock battery i get a nice long glide from up high. Is the wing lose at the leading edge or trailing edge?
