  1. Thanks Mike. Ken...it's weird that you lost the signal, one increment either way whilst trying to fine tune but had no problems with range test and/or loss of signal/telemetry while flying. I'm a little baffled by it (then again that's my normal state!)
  2. Thanks for reply.I managed to answer my question by internet search. It seems it's a good idea to carry out the fine tune where possible,no matter what protocol, due to variations in the oscillator crystals used in multiprotocol modules. BTW Andy,I found the documentation that you provided me the link to,very informative.Thankyou. Pete
  3. Glad it went well Ken. Is it just the Frsky protocols that need the RF fine tuning or all protocols? Pete
  4. Ooops! Sorry Andy.I misunderstood. I don't post very often. Where can I find/buy this documentation? Peter
  5. I think you are right Andy. I tend to only update if there is a new feature that appeals to me or that I think I need. If it ain't broke...etc. Pete
  6. Thanx Phil. I couldn't remember the exact wording of RM's sales pitch but I know it wasn't "might" be supported but "would" be. I agree..it's still a super radio. Pete.
  7. Frank...Maybe cheated was too strong a word...more disappointed. Not with OTX but with Radiomaster. True they never held their hand up and said " We solemnly swear that the touchscreen will be implemented in a future release of OTX" but if I remember rightly they did say it would be. As someone who struggled with OTX to begin with, thanks to all the wonderfull people on here and you tube, I can now say I am comfortable with it. I appreciate all the hard work the OTX developers do and yes,I have donated to the cause. Bob...I did say that not all my receivers are Frsky. If you do decide to purchase the x20 maybe you will let me take a closer look at it next time we are at the flying field together. (Open from tomorrow! Yippee!) I have to say...I better stop looking at the x20 because I can feel myself getting smitten by it Pete
  8. Hi.Like Outrunner above, the inclusion of a touchscreen was what persuaded me to buy a RM Tx16s. I have been waiting patiently for months for OTX 2.4.x release. I keep checking on Github but keep seeing the same "No release date" and "83% complete" Any progress seems to have stalled. I know Tx16s is a lot of radio for the price but if it turns out that we will never be able to use one of it's main features,I for one will feel cheated and more than a little disappointed. When Flysky moved away from producing their cheap and cheerful (and very capable) radios and introduced the PL18 Paladin,it looked a very nice piece of kit.....but I think they dropped the ball.As is,it is not backward compatible with earlier Flysky protocols. You have to buy a module for that(not JR form factor). I don't now how well they have sold but I don't know anyone who owns one. As for the FrSky x20.....looks great but limited backwards compatibility. Both the afore mentioned radios probably appeal more to newcomers to the hobby. Those like me who have a dozen or more receivers(Frsky and others) have to factor in the cost of a new radio and a pile of new receivers.Expensive. Sorry for long post but I feel better now I got it off my chest.Going for a lie down now. Pete.(I feel cheated!)
  9. Hi Ray. Have you ever done a step by step build blog on this or any other forum? Would love to see more detail on your particular building method(s). Regards Pete.
  10. Oooops. Must have posted at the same time. Thanks PB thats the infomation I was after!! Pete
  11. Thanks for the replies. Denis, I understand that charger sees the 4 packs as I battery. The 7.2amp charge rate comes from adding each packs capacity together. In the example in my first post ,as there are 4 packs,do they each get 1/4 of the charge rate eg.1.8amps despite the different capacities? I know its possible to parallel charge packs of different capacities but I like to "understand" the process. Having trouble getting my head round this one!! Thanks again. Pete
  12. Thanks MattyB. Thats one of the sites I have visited but I still haven't found the answer to the question of charge rates for individual packs when capacities are different. Pete
  13. I have recently purchased a 500w charger and have been thinking of trying parallel charging of lipo's. There is lots of info on the internet regarding the subject.....most of which I understand! However,I am struggling when they say you can parallel charge packs of different capacities. For example; if I charge 2@ 3s 2300mah packs and 2@ 3s 1300mah packs together, I add the capacities together and set the charge rate at 7.2amps. So does this mean each pack gets charged at 1.8amps or am I missing something here? I normally charge packs at 1C so in this example the 2300mah packs charge at less than 1C and the 1300mah greater than 1C. I only have a basic understanding of electricity so if anyone would like to comment on the above I would be gratefull! Pete
  14. Thanks Rich. I'll do my best to provide some photos. Pete.
  15. Thanks Rich I also have the RCM&E issue with the Panther plan. If I have success with the Atom I may build that too. Am I correct that the blade mount hole on the Panther blades are drilled on the chordwise balance line and not 1mm behind chord balance line as on the Atom? If so, is there a reason why they are different? Sorry for all the questions but I am determined to build an autogyro and just want to get my facts straight. Pete.
  16. Thanks Ozgur for the advice. Still building at the moment but will try and take onboard everything you and everyone else on this thread have said when the time comes to fly my Atom. Ooooh! I'm getting nervous just thinking about it.! Pete.
  17. Thankyou Ozgur. Just wanted to be sure. Bit different to how I fly my fixed wing models. "More rudder? What's that?" lol. Pete.
  18. Decided I'm going to build the Atom. So far all parts cut and blade blanks made. I keep re-reading this thread till my head hurts! Just a question about flying.......so,you start a turn using rudder ,let's say left turn and then opposite roll (right) to flatten the turn. Is this correct or have I got it completely wrong?! Pete.
  19. Thanks for the quick replies. Actually Steve it was your post way back on page 7 where I saw the spanwise balancing.Thanks. Pete.
  20. Hi. Not new to this forum but can't remember if I have ever posted here! When making blades for the Atom or even the Cruiser, does the leading edge have to be spruce? I only ask as I have a stock of pine strip that I would like to find a use for . Also I know you have to balance the blades chordwise to obtain c of g but I have also seen at least one post where blades are balanced spanwise but not everone seems to do this last step, so I was wondering if spanwise balance is crucial or not? Sorry for all the questions. regards Pete.
  21. Thanks Daz. It's typical of me......over-thinking things instead of just doing it!
  22. Me again. Is there an easy way to resize the formers when building from a plan meant as a balsa build to allow for the 3mm depron sheeting? Also,if one feels the need for extra intermediate formers to support the depron sheeting how do you determine the dimensions.(eg. Where the fuselage tapers towards the tail). I know it's probably a nooby question but I am a Depron noob! And please,no one suggest a CAD program.........I've only just mastered an abacus! Regards Pete.
