  1. Posted by Andy G. on 21/03/2017 07:45:08: Designed, I believe, by someone who lives in my locale; Keith Number from the Isle of Wight hence the spelling of the name. Well I will try and do due justice to his design, all i could find online was one grainy black and white photo or the plan for sale. the plan is definately clear for the experienced or a challenge for the newcomer because no instructions are current. If you have any photos and finishes for the model i would be happy as 23 pigs in mud. I have been tossing up between doped sig Koverall or iron on. so any input would be gratefully received. bbc
  2. Well it seems (yeah i am breaking the seams) it seems that my belts are no longer a good choice and Braces will be much more of a comfort. My dilemma is finding them in a local store where i can feel see and try. elastic waists hear i come.
  3. Your Club can Win. 1) Set a goal for the club environment- nothing too difficult for the newer builders, but a club effort it must be. 2) say the club has 20 members at least eleven must participate to be eligible. 3) simple sheet model that can be electric or methanol of any size. 4) a group photo of models with your club inspired RCM&E signage. just a start, what else could make it viable and much more fun? bbc Edited By bouncebounce crunch on 21/03/2017 07:24:47
  4. Well i have been such a slacker as an aeromodeller that my lack of decision on a build was getting ridiculous. The engine size is a .25 Magnum.. i found all the plans suitable put them on the bed, closed my eyes shuffled them a few times and pulled out one. Time to get credibility back. The Wight Maiden is a 52" aerobatic model, I have made a few modifications to the plan in regard to engine orientation and balsa thickness. The build is on, with fuse lower half built, one wing panel nearly complete and half a tin of coffee gone. probably 10 hours with 6 looking at the plan.
  5. Remember those great times that you injured yourself? really fond memories of hitting your shin on the tow ball, that pale feeling you get, ah the joy of it all. boiling pasta water burn.
  6. There once was a guy that hated Spektrum. sneaking under the rug now. Edited By bouncebounce crunch on 20/03/2017 06:15:21
  7. Posted by Paul C. on 19/03/2017 09:27:10: I had heard of an engineering reference to skelping in the past so I looked it up on Google, turns out there is another meaning as you say. To strike, slap, hit originating in northern England and Scotland, what would we do without google 😂 Paul My family were metalworkers, diesel mechanics and from Glasgow. So i guess that was part of the local slang that my dad brought to Australia to punish me with.
  8. Stop chewing on that pencil or you will get lead poisoning.
  9. I remember my dad using the word Skelp or Skelping when i was a boy. eg: I'm gonna Skelp your backside. Your mothers gonna give you a Skelpin when she sees this. Do you lot have any wonderful words or sayings that seem to have been lost to time? bbc
  10. I will Percy, I have a 25 size sport model fuse built ready to sand, but the wing is a part open structure affair so i will contemplate the finish for the wing for a few days before i purchase the said goodly product.
  11. Looking brilliant John. Thanks for the Poly C hints and tips. Nobody in my club has ever used it, so first hand experience i will be getting very soon. bbc
  12. Well as we all know, at times retracts cost as much if not more than an arf they will be fitted too. Yes prices have come down but not enough for a frugal fool like me. Any pioneering fiddlers building their own jackscrew types for their 40- 60 size models? and are you willing to elaborate how they achieved the blissful up and downism? bbc.
  13. Thanks for the input fellows. Engine is in the upright position Rolled to inverted for 2-3 seconds but the revs dropped almost immediately. on the ground the same happens when model is rolled over inverted, then upright revs return. I will try richening if having no glory then the tank position will need to be addressed. The model is a 40 size das stick and the tank is positioned in the bulkhead formers.
  14. I bet on a champion racehorse today, it took 10 others to beat him. I asked my racehorse trainer how fast my horse is. he gave me a callender. my luck is improving, i was only six numbers off winning the lottery.
  15. Thank you gentlemen. The engine is new it is not a top end engine but is one that is commonly reported as not the most powerful but reliable. 61 fs, F plug, on 12X6 prop 5%N 20% oil= idles well, transitions well, nice puffs of smoke when idled back, but a very light smoke trail in full flight. rolled over and the revs dropped immediately. landed, full throttle while holding model turned model inverted and the lag was very evident but returned to full revs when upright. not a lot of smoke either way. i did not build the model or plumb the tank so i wonder if the fuel pressure and feed are wrong.
  16. 4stroke engine Roll inverted, engine lags, complete the roll and engine returns to normal running. is tank low or high or is there a plumbing problem?
  17. safety is always on my mind as i don't want to injure anybody, lose a model or my club membership because of unsafe practices. what i do is take my transmitter with me to retrieve any model even if i taxi back the edge of the pilot box. in a crash situation it is handy to have transmitter still activated so you can look at the reciever for signal loss or waggle the sticks when trying to find a model lost in trees.
  18. Another build coming along nicely, I like how you have shown others to be problem solvers when building models. i at times have been so frustrated with a problem that half build model will sit for months or years because i have lost patience then any interest. keep up the good postings Maurice. bbc
  19. Now this is looking a cracker of a build. More of this please John. this is what inspires others to have a go at detailing their own models. Loving it, three thumbs up from me. bbc
  20. Tony Nijhuis is on a mission to make a Hawker Harrier succeed in rc. So what other aircraft would be a challenge to be as close to scale operation? the Goodyear Inflatoplane is my top pick. what else?
  21. Posted by Tim Hooper on 23/02/2017 21:26:47: Here's the current musical fleet......... I've had the two big ones for over 30 years, whereas all the rest have been bought or built in the last year or so. Tim Tim do i read this correctly. You build your own guitars too? Awesome.
  22. Posted by Lindsay Todd on 23/02/2017 23:56:39: Ok so I lost count make it 5 guitars and a uke oh, The 12string is a Kay model I got for my 15th Birthday many moons ago now, despite it being a Grattan Catalogue job still has a nice action and lovely tone. Linds I am probably better off with one string.LOL
  23. Thank you to every person posting in advice. Ok, it looks as if around $400 dollars Aussie, or 200 Sterling will get me an affordable starter pack whether electric or acoustic. package of guitar, case/cover, tuner, amplifier if going electric. I am of the opinion, after reading all the help given to me on this very site that it is best to visit a goodly music store and they can see me hold said guitars and see my fingers and arm in action thus sort of customising the guitar for my dimensions. Thank you all and keep posting as it will be a fortnight before i can get to a music store. bbc
  24. which one had the three cups of tea?
  25. well i can play very very badly, Stairway to heaven and Smoke on the water finger picking basic riffs (You all Know the ones) the strumming is killing me. up down, up up down up down. If there was a Got no Talent tv show I would definately be in the final..
