  1. I might just do that Denis,  it would be really helpful to have all the windows thinking about it. We have fathers day coming up so I can always hint lol. I still have the electric set up to buy and that comes in at over £160 . Frightening how the cost of models escalates! At least i have some air retracts that fit and I have made my own legs so that is nearly£180 saved. Edited By Cliff Bastow on 04/04/2020 16:57:20
  2. hi Denis, I looked on the Pyramid models website but the cost is £45, although that does also include decals for all the windows. Out of my budget range I am afraid so I will go back to my original plan and do them myself. Thanks for the heads up though. Cliff.
  3. I have made the wing mountings and fitted the over-wing portions of the fuselage and started to blend them in and also started the sanding of the corners of the fuselage to shape. I must admit this is not my favourite part of the build as I dislike sanding. its too easy to either not take off enough material or even worse to go to far! still has to be done. Here is another posed photo off the build so far.
  4. Nice plane Chris, I built a small electric one from the Tony Nijhus plan, It was a nice flier and looked great in the sky. Good luck with the build.
  5. Ok Ray thanks for that. Now I am confused as the York at Duxford in Dan Air Colors definitely has grey nacelles and stripes, maybe Dan Air changed there livery at some point?
  6. Hi Ken, Tony is still operating and shows the Sunderland on his website so you could order plans direct. Cliff.
  7. Hi again ray, Actually you could help me out , Are the stripes on the wings black or grey and are the nacelles the same Colour? Thanks in advance, Cliff.
  8. Hi Ray, I will do them the same way as I did for my Connie, that is my son will design them for me on his PC and then I will print my own waterslide decals.
  9. Both outer fins and rudders are complete. They have been sanded to shape, then covered with film, lightly sanded to give a key, treated with Prymol and sprayed. I have decided on the Dan Air livery so they just need a red stripe across the top and coat of gloss varnish and they are done. 10. Hi Dougie, I have a C.A.P. Gladiator and can confirm it came with no instructions. I would also echo the comments about them tending to come out very heavy. cliff.
  11. Thanks Martian, Looking at the fins you can see the Lancaster similarities. The York used the Lancaster wing and tail-plane and double fins with an added third fin and different fuselage.
  12. I have now sanded both outer fins and rudders, drilled all holes and test fitted the Robart hinges.. I don't know who Tony used for his balsa supply but it sanded and shaped really nicely and is not too soft or hard. Just the centre fin and rudder to do, this will be easier as the rudder in the kit is not operational.   Edited By Cliff Bastow on 21/03/2020 14:10:17 Edited By Cliff Bastow on 21/03/2020 14:12:11
  13. I agree Barry, Stupid and anti-social if you ask me. If people did not panic buy in the first place we would not be in this state. yes buy a bit more than normal but come on! If it goes on much longer we will will have rationing soon.
  14. I know Cymaz very strange, I did suggest to my wife that i had to go to Inwood Models and panic buy kits, Artfs, balsa, glue paint and other supplies but she did not seem very keen for some reason!
  15. I work for a firm that supplies oranges and satsumas to supermarkets and demand has gone through the roof. We have even been approached by supermarkets we do not deal with to to see if we can supply. What I want to know is who on earth is stockpiling oranges? and why, they wont keep that long anyway! Common sense seems to have deserted us. Edited By Cliff Bastow on 21/03/2020 09:15:28
  16. Also the elevators have been constructed and sanded to shape. Tony designed them as a central core with riblets, and then film covered to represent the fabric covering of the full size, but I decided to go the easier route and make them from sheet as I was not too bothered about the scale effect.
  17. And here the rudder has been sanded to the correct profile.
  18.   Progress has been slow lately as I have had to work quite a bit of overtime. I work in the fruit supply industry as a maintenance engineer and orders have rocketed, plus more than half the engineering staff are self isolating so we are reduced to one of us on each shift! Still some progress is happening, here is the first fin drilled. And hinges test fitted. Edited By Cliff Bastow on 21/03/2020 08:32:21
