  1. Something that fits the criterion as it will suit a wide range of abilities both flying and building would be the D.B. Sport and Scale Corben Baby Ace.
  2. It has been available for several days on the internet.
  3. Posted by Greybeard on 07/09/2013 07:46:33: I'm selling a Laser 100 four stroke, it's at £0.49 at the moment but I'm hoping that I will get a little more for it; there is no reserve so it will be sold. This auction has less than 12 hours to run.
  4. As BEB says take your pick; most come with a selection of leads to suit all the popular connectors. I use one of these to charge my 1300mAh 3s batteries, it uses the ballance plug to connect and is not a fast charger but it does the job for little cost.
  5. I run a 5 digital servo Gangster aerobatic model fitted with a 1000mAh LIFE rx battery and it recharges in about 15 minutes after around an hours flying so cannot be using much of its capacity. Considering that I used to run the same set-up on a 500mAh 4.8v NiCd pack without worrying about flattening it I would fit a smaller LIFE pack if I could find a good one.
  6. Thanks for your interest Stephen. Yes, I do have the box and instructions although the utilitarian plain box is nothing to get excited about and the instructions can also be found here for anyone that wants to read about this marvellous machine to assist with their dreams of owning it.

  8. I'm not sure about the over-voltage argument since modern kit such as my JR Rx's are rated for an operating voltage of 4.8 to 8.5 volts and servos at 7.4 volts but maybe Futaba equipment is rated lower so your point could be valid for that or other makes. The other good point about LIFE cells is that they are about half the weight of NIMH cells.
  9. Posted by Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator on 06/09/2013 12:39:33: But John if you switch to Life you will still need something like the BEC to regulate the voltage? BEB Why do you say that, my receivers and servos run on a 6.6 volt life battery without any problem?
  10. Posted by john melia 1 on 06/09/2013 11:01:06: Greybeard did you get the pack from the uk warehouse or the european warehouse if the latter how long was delivery , would my accucel 6 charge this pack through the balance lead Vapextech's server seems to be down at the moment so the link I gave isn't working, but I order from them off their website and they are delivered freepost on the next day. I assume that they are in the UK but have never checked on their location.
  11. I now use LIFE packs for rx power, the have several advantages over Nimh packs (a) light weight (b) fast charge and (c) very low self discharge rate. I leave them in the model and charge through the balance lead and use the 1000mAh unit from Vapertech. I've not experience any problems from their higher voltage.
  12. I use silicone sealant on my OS 4 stroke engine exhausts, something that they recommend. It works well and is easy to dismantle and clean off.
  13. I would go along with what Chris and Pete have said but with the proviso that if you follow someone else into a thermal then you adopt their direction of rotation.
  14. I have a Ripmax Axion Laser Arrow whose motor became noisy, on inspection this is due to two of the magnets coming loose and moving forward so that they can rub on the stationary end plate. I have pushed these back into place but what do I use to fix them so that they don’t come out again. If I have to replace the motor have you any suggestions of something suitable other than another Axion motor? Edited By Greybeard on 27/08/2013 20:04:03 Edited By Greybeard on 27/08/2013 20:04:36
  15. Your problem seems to me to be that you are simply using too much glue.
  16. "C" grain is usually a cross cut normally used for wing ribs whilst the 5 - 7 lb normally refers to the weight of the wood per cu ft. For information HERE which may be helpful. Edited By Greybeard on 27/08/2013 17:02:34
  17. In photographic circles he who trips the shutter is the photographer, for example a professional photographer may have several assistants setting up the camera but the photographer will always step forward to operate the shutter.
  18. You may find something similar HERE which may help.
  19. I too enjoyed the Soaring Primer article and would welcome much more similar coverage.
  20. You are so right Bob. I shall have a poke around inside to see if I can find the fault, other than that I will keep it as a 3 cell charger and 12volt power unit, so all is not lost.
  21. So it's a one way trip to the recycle plant for this; we really are a throw away society,
  22. I cannot imagine that the removal of 5 grams would have any noticable effect on the flying characteristics of this model; I would consider other causes for your malaise.
  23. JR plugs go into Futaba sockets without modification but be careful with the polarity otherwise they won't work. Fitting Futaba into JR sockets requires the removal of the key on the plug.
  24. I use aliphatic glue with a little vaseline on the hinge, it takes a lot longer than epoxy for the glue to set and gives you a change to line them properly - and it's more than strong enough. When you fit them bend them to as near 90 deg as you can get, that way it's easier to see if they are in the correct orientation. As others have said fit to one surface and leave 24hrs before attaching the other.
  25. I have a Sigma EQ Hyper battery charger that has developed a fault and is reading the 4th cell voltage about one volt high, which the charger recognises as a faulty cell and switches the trips the charger off. Can anyone recommend a service engineer?
