  1. Me too. Just sent a couple of emails which were returned with "unknown user" errors?
  2. Thought I would put this link here if anyone is interested in owning one of these beauties as I'm selling mine. Hope posting links is OK. DX18qq
  3. I have a set of oleos if you do find a set and want some.
  4. I always fancied Realflight but was put off with not being able to use my own TX like you can with Phoenix, I dont suppose they have seen the light and incorporated that option yet?.
  5. Phil - I dont think I'm ready for 1/4 scale, it would make too big a hole Thanks Graham
  6. Cheers for the replies guys. Graham - please ask your lad if he wants to part with it
  7. I really like the lines of this plane so I've been looking round for a balsa kit but can only find this**LINK** Has anyone built one of these or can recommend anothe kit - hopefully a bit bigger and for IC? Edited By John Hickson on 19/06/2013 08:52:56
  8. I did something similar with a 3S 2200 I left plugged into a battery monitor (doh). It was completely flat and my charger refused to do anything with it. I put it on a 9v NiMh charge for 5 mins, then switched over to a normal LiPo charge and it worked. I've used the pack countless times since
  9. I connect up all my servos to a servo tester set to automatic, add some "ballast" to the control surfaces to simulate flight loads and time it. That way all I have to guesstimate is what my RX's will draw when working - easy enough to measure with a meter in series.
  10. Posted by steve gunn on 14/05/2013 22:44:28: am i mad for trying this as my first build. A little, yes
  11. mmm... "When Lipos are charged in parallel their balance plugs are paralelled". Wouldnt that mean that 2x 3s batteries would be seen by the charger as a 3s cell, if you were balancing your cells would be all over the place as you would be balancing 3s instead of the actual 6s??. "an ESC needs to discharge those same cells equally through paralleled balance plugs." an ESC does not discharge through the balance plug, it therfore cannot discharge while remaining cell balance. 12. Yep. Worm gear rather than cogs thoughEdited By John Hickson on 12/05/2013 14:27:10
  13. Why are the flaps linked to the gear - surely they can be deployed independantly?
  14. Cheers GB. You mean remove the entire mixture screw. I never thought of that. I was worried taking it out might bugger something.
  15. Wires to the pot and the motor need to be reversed. Done it on a couple but its fiddly and not worth the hassal unless there's no other way.Edited By John Hickson on 08/05/2013 20:02:26
  16. Its obviously a good idea to have an extension of some description to your mixture screw so adjustments can be made with the cowl in place, but, how the heck do you fasten the grub screw that keeps said extension in the screw with the cowl fitted. Its like the flippin chicken and egg thing
  17. If carbon is a partial conductor I doubt very much it would be used in insulation tape?
  18. I have a couple of sets one on a 1/7th warbird and one on a 90mm jet. They have only had a couple of outings and relatively gentle landings but seem fine so far
  19. BBC - Its my first glow aircraft, but not my first time flying My first TX and model was a McGregor PCM10 and a Kyosho Concept 30 heli. Many years ago. Complicated TX's dont faze me   Thanks chaps I will have a look at whats commercially available just in case my DIY version comes with magic smoke Edited By John Hickson on 02/05/2013 12:38:25
  20. I'm just finishing off my first glow model which will be using an ASP120FS. Having read many threads on engine cut-outs on low throttle settings I thought I would do the following: I have made a simple electronic switch which can be set to turn on or off at a given stick position or by a switch on the TX. This will be used to switch a LiFe cell connected to a small glow driver circuit. I did a mix on my DX18 so that when a switch is in a certain position, a throttle stick position of less than a quarter effectively ignites the glow plug. My thinking is the low throttle will be used for a) initial starting and b) approach/landing. As mentioned, this can be overridden with a TX switch. Can anyone foresee any problems with this idea?
  21. mmm...dont really fancy making one, plus it would have to be tough as its going on an RCV90 and I wont be using my fingers to start it I hate the searching round for stuff that will have to do, its the worst part of the hobby for me. I dont mind ingenuity but making spinners...meh
  22. Oh I found loads doing that very search Pete, but none I came across looked very scale. I was hoping to find one that looked the part and didnt need fettling with. Given the popularity of the kit and the fact Topflte only did a two blader (they dont any more) I thought someone would have set up doing them. I will keep looking once the blood-tears in my eyes have dried up
