  1. Hi. Have a look for a pair of Hitec Magnum boots. My wife was in the Police service and had a pair. Although they were quite expensive they lasted years... i know Bates do something similar too. Phill ps. I can't open your links on my phone so not sure what you have already seen.
  2. Dont know if this is any use to anyone **LINK** GoPro Camera (I know its the helmet mounted one) but good price at £179.99?
  3. Hi, Not sure if this is any help? I have seen them in use and work well but depending on size and weight restrictions on your particular model it may not work, Not sure how it is triggered but I assume its done from a spare RX channel and powered from the flight pack. **LINK**
  4. I can't agree more with every positive comment on here. Spiros and the team do a fantastic job and the costs for the best week flying of the year are excelent! Keep it up guys and hope to see you again later in the year! P
  5. Progress so far - Tail feathers attached - usual affair - trim the covering and glue in place. They use some very small paper hinges for the control surfaces so I have decided to add a couple of extras for security. The slots in the fin and stab were too tight to fit so a little help needed there. Main UC and tail wheel all went together as per the instructions. I am quite impressed with the quality of the axels as I was expecting just a couple of threaded bolts but these are much better with collets and plastic washers. I have decided to leave the spats off for the time being as I always seem to damage them during the first few flights. Aileron servos were a little fidly as they had not put any draw strings through the wing but nothing too difficult. It looks like I may have to do some surgery on the motor mount as the screw holes are not 100% aligned and the hole to house the back of the motor is too small - I will tackle this later after the servo horns and closed loop rudder.
  6. Hi, I have just received my latest toy - a HK Sbach 342 1000mm. Since I cant find another thread on this model I thought I would make one. I placed the order on Tuesday and the delivery arrived promptly at 9.30am this morning. I was surprised as I expected a backlog of orders from over the bank holiday. Well done HK. The box was well taped and had the LiPo's, servos, motor and ESC in a seperate box attached to the top of the model. The model was packed in its own box and had a sturdy second box to make sure it arrived in one peice. All the parts were in plastic bags and internally taped to the sides of the boxes for stability. The manual was an 11 page PDF that came on a mini CD which I promptly printed. (They even include a PDF reader on the CD just in case - nice touch) The manual is written with the usual mix of poorly translated English and full colour illustrated images. I have seen much worse! Having unboxed all the parts and checked everything over it all seems present and the quality of the fittings seem quite good. A carbon wing tube & horns, ball links and ali undercart. The spats are white and the cowl paint is a good match to the covering. The fuselage seems to be well constucted from laser cut balsa/ply. A acnopy hatch and magnets hold it in place and there is a nice composite doubler on the front of the motor box.
  7. I have flown several of these and TBH some have flown better than others. One that has had a plywood repair to the UC fixing points flew the best (might be because of the added weight) I have not had any problems with mine other than ones I have caused - I took the entire front end off a couple of weeks ago doing some very very low inverted passes but with a bit of glue its back up and running. I prefer it to the Acrowot foam-e - just seems to be more fun. Phill
  8. Bad luck that man. When I was 14 I bought, with my hard earned paper round money, a nice sport model (cant remember what it was now) It was my pride and joy. I spent hours checking and double checking everything. I took it down the field, had a bit of a fly round with my other models but didn't feel comfortable flying the new one yet. I was goaded into it by a few of the other chaps and finally took off. I managed about half a circuit before it started acting up. I had aileron, rudder and throttle control so all I can assume is that the servo or a linkage had given up on the elevator. It was flying around in circles slowly getting further and further away while I battled with it. Eventually, when it was little more than a speck I decided to cut the throttle and let it come down. We found it about a mile away at the side of a farm track - loads of damage and a very broken 14 yr old boy. I took it, put it in my dad's car and we drove home. I didn't say a word (according to Dad) At that point I decided to give up the hobby. I didn't thankfully but the lesson was learnt. Funny thing was that I didn't mind crashing when it was my parents paying All I can say it chin up, get another model and go flying! Phill
  9. Hi, I wonder if there is a slightly smaller version of the precedent t240 (usually 90 size I think) - I learnt too fly on one of theses, nice and predictable and easy to see. - I think Slec produce a T240 90 size kit. I have flown the 40 size Thunder Tiger Trainer a lot and thats a great little model too. Happy landings and I hope you find what you are looking for. Phill

Hi, Yes - only to the laptop. If you need it connecting to multiple machines then you need to have a switch to connect the laptop, nas and solwise box. P

  12. Quick update - just received a replacement servo... installed and ready to test - well done HH!
  13. Hi Spikey, Broadly you are correct. Take off's and landings with rudder and any taxiing, steerable nose wheels are usually connected to the rudder channel too. It refines the turn to help the tail follow the nose better. If you are flying aerobatics then yes ailerons are used more, however if you are flying in a more scale like manner with certain models then rudder becomes more important to keep relatively flat turns with only a small amount of bank from the ailerons. Well, this is how I fly anyway, others may have their own methods. Cheeers P
  14. I want to have a go at building the current version first but then you never know... P
