  1. i would think it would, mine doesnt stick out, infact yheu do look like they will do the job very well...the only other downside to going lipo is the need for a lipo charger...now there is a whole new topic!!
  2. well you can go for a fixed pitch but they are alot harder to learn with...if you want a "real" heli for outside flying you will need to have a bigger budget... i would say blade cx and Phoenix RC Simulator,
  3. its a syma heli, and not that good from what i have heard...if you want a cheap bit of fun then a pico z, the blade cx is a good starter heli
  4. Thanks tim, maybe im better than i thought LoL
  5. i have one of these...wanted to find something to learn to fly with and havn't looked back, great bit of kit and able to take all those hard landings that come with learning
  6. the only 3/4 in one that i know of that do not work with a futaba set is the Walkera, even though it is 35mhz it has something to do with phasing (wot ever that is)
  7. BoomBoom very quick..  When mounting my lipo i had it at 90 degrees so the connectors were pointing out the side that way i  could get it just that little bit closer the front of the model. As for over discharging i timed a flight and stoped the clock as soon as i detect a drop in power, i then checked how much charge went back in to the pack, I then tweeked the length of flights to i was within the 30% lipo rule
  8. I use a 2 cell li-po on my FP and it seems to fly ok, i did go for a high capasity that makes the pack a  little on the heavy side but still flys ok.
  9. pity this is so far up...any chance of one down south in 2008?
  10. i have a wild thing and as a beginner have been very happy with it, and found it to be very robust when it meets the ground (which is often quite hard ). Also found Alan (the guy who sells them)very helpful. I have seen a couple of the easy gliders up the slope as well, not flown one but look more stable in lower wind conditions, supprisingly large as well. also without all the tape i would think its quicker to build i would think (not that the wild think takes very long)  Brian
  11. LOL so next week the headline will read "£2M spy drone DS's a treat" then
  12. BMFA rules on publishing crash photos means that we are unable to show the next photo in this sequence.
  13. I like the odd show report, its a nice change to reviews and information. It would be nice to see more reports/feedback from some of the competitions (heli and fixed wing) that are held around the country.  I also think that they are a good chance to see some very nice models that you may not otherwise get a chance to.
  14. With a nitro your only limited by fuel but as for exact time in the air i couldnt say ( i fly electric) but im sure its more than you get with your flight packs  A lot of people say that a good flight sim is the way to go when learning as the savings made whole learning are worth it. May be a trip to your local club would be a good way to go, talk with teh heli boys there see what they fly.
  15. Sudden panic ensued as he realised he didn't switch his transmitter on
  16. The new guy was soon to realise that there was more to ARTF than meets the eye
  17. Teathering a heli!! sounds drastic. When learning to fly helis (started out on a 4ch FP) the training gear helped alot. Bunny hopping was the key for me. learning how to compensate for the inital desire for the heli to yaw and pitch as you take off allows you co compensate acordingly, also understanding ground effect and what it does to a heli also helped Edit: Dont know if its been mentioned but teh larger helis are better to laarn on that small electrics as thay are more stable
  18. I have a dragonfly 4 though i use a lipo its a 7.4v the electroncs are not the best and may not handle the higher voltage. Plus the extra weight of a larger battery will outweigh (bad pun sorry) any benifit.
  19. I dont know..A trex se is a very good heli. A proven design with a great track record
  20. some of the cheap micro helis (fixed pitch etc) are a good way of seeing if Helis are for you, but hard to master. The co-axel are more stable for learning and better for flying in the lounge, one of the best small electrics has to be the Trex by far :o)
  21. Sam: dont try they dont work..wrong phase shift or something
