  1. Posted by Danny Fenton on 25/01/2014 13:42:32: Sounds good Phil, I find my card recovers fairly well if I lay it gently in my wallet and have a choccy biscuit. Thanks for the heads up on Tony's build, must have missed the wing build bit Cheers Danny Edited By Danny Fenton on 25/01/2014 13:42:50 Hi Danny. I'm new here so don't know my way around just yet! Could you help me locate Tony's build blog please? Thanks, David
  2. Hi Wayne. What a beautiful location it must be great to fly there! Was the video taken with a camera mounted where the cockpit normally goes - the reason I ask is I've just got a GoPro and want to try it on my Bixler so any help would most useful - thanks. 3. Hi Jeff, Is electric power, just wondering
  4. Hi Kevin. Looking forward to the progress - I too need to get my A by the time I get to flying which for me will be late April so priorities are mixed but hey thats life David
  5. Hi Phil. I have purchased my electrics from 4 Max the ESC is rated at a continuos 80 amps which should be well within in the rated current. I'm going to uses separate battery for the receiver and servos possibly run it at HV though I do have and SBEC just in case; Its just me trying to cover the questions..!
  6. Hi Phil. I noticed you have allowed for a cooling hole in F2 do you think there will be enough draft from the hole round the gap round the prop shaft or do you have other plans to provide ventilation. i am thinning the ESC will need a good air flow? Thanks David
  7. Whatever they are you need to get rid, they will chew through wiring and the wood beams. I know I had them & through the OH not wanting to kill them we waited too long - they can also breed up there
  8. To make the CF stronger it is possible to glue a wood dowel down the centre - I have done this on a tri rotor platform and haven't broken a spare since.
  9. I have the aluminium joiner tubes on my Seagull Decathlon & Boomerang which work very well. I was thinking maybe Carbon Fibre may be another option to keep the weight down. Just a thought?
  10. Phil, it's looking good, thanks for the time spent in taking pictures & blogging. It is going to big a huge help..
  11. I was just admiring the look and thought the colour scheme made it look very modern - I do like the spats they are the perfect extra.
  12. Looking great Phil. These pictures, and thoughts will be a real help for my build
  13. It does look good let's hope the weather looks up for you in the next week or so!
  14. Posted by Dave Miller on 15/12/2013 13:02:40: I’ve finally got around to assembling the beast and running the engine on load for the first time. With a JXF 17x10 propeller I got 7,150 rpm, I have no idea if that’s good or not but it did seem to be sucking quite well. Now all I need is a warmish dry day for the maiden flight. Hi Dave. I was wondering how much dihedral you have gone for? Hope you don't mind the questions?
  15. Wow - three amazing builds - all absolutely great - setting the standard for the rest of us Absolutely Marvellous !
  16. Looks really great, if mine looks half as good I will be thrilled, and let's hope the weather is kind so you can get a maiden flight in soon. I'm going to use the same electrics as you have so I was wondering if you had measured the Watts and Amps?
  17. Posted by Dave Miller on 10/12/2013 11:49:58: I've up-loaded a few pictures to an album HERE. When I find out how I shall add a few more Great pictures Dave, I hope you don't mind if I ask few questions that will help with my build; I was wondering how the wings were held on, and how have you hidden the servo wires to the wings. Thanks..
  18. He's going to be a busy lad with the three guns and the plane to fly - maybe he needs some help
  19. Umm! Interesting but I think I will stay with a wired solution, though I don't want them to be flapping in the breeze so some sort of cover and paint will be needed.. maybe I'll use a single s.bus cable?? Edited By jolliffee on 05/12/2013 14:11:06
  20. Looks great Tony! Hopefully Father Christmas will be good to you
  21. Posted by Martian on 19/10/2013 17:52:56: Still undecided as to which Barnstormer pref it will be one the will fly on 3s batts cos thats what i have I'm going to use two 3S in series to give me a total of 6s that way I still have flexibility and it helps to keep the costs down.
  22. I know where you are coming from, both classics but so different a bit WW1 vs WW2 - both interesting in their own way!
  23. Looking great, I bet you are pleased with what you have created?
