  1. LOL, thats funny. A mate of mine always does his models one colour - so the missus can't keep track...
  2. Hi, How about sub1500 grams, and less than 400 watts of power? Seems to be a common denominator these days. I would recommend joining the BMFA if you haven't already. The insurance is a good bargaining chip for new sites - especially as it indemnifies the landowner. cheers Julian
  3. Just checked out the spec of the radio - reckon you'll have to do some clever mixing with the free mixers to get around this...
  4. A similar problem as removing aileron differential under crow braking with a slippery F3f glider. It may be that you're at the limits of what the tranny can do. You're probably looking at FF9/JR PCM9/MX22 and above to deal with these sorts of issues. Go fishing for some glider boys - bet Mr Ellison could help... Julian
  5. If you want vinyl decals to look like the airbrushed Jart logos on Andy's model just let me know - whatever size/colour you need. J
  6. Have you ever watched or flown a pure carbon look model? Scary. Can't tell whether it's coming or going most of the time...needs colour
  7. Is that right...  :0)  Call me if you haven't already gone to bee byes...
  8. I think Allan knows something...
  9. Mmm...been down the importing route before. I purchased a Sig Liberty Sport biplane. As I recall the kit was something like $85. However I got well and truly shafted by HM customs and exercise, then parcelfarce...  You might get lucky though, and the exchange rate is peachy at the moment...
  10. So, who do we think Bertie is then? I've got a nagging idea it's much nearer to home than you'd think....
  11. Weeelll,  when I was living darn sarf, I was about 20 mins from the patch, and 25 from the slope. Recently moved oop north, now the power site is about 2 minutes away, but the slopes are more than two hours away!!!!!
  12. Yes it's dumb innit. Pay a wunner for a top end charger, then only use half of it! I'm playing it safe and sending the charger back to Schulze. Electronics aren't my thing...
  13. Cor! I need one of these puppies. From the thread on rcgroups, they should be hitting the shelves at Al's about now. Not on the website yet though. Anyone got one/seen one yet. It's a bit mad, sorta like a squished Yak. Check out the excellent video on the precision aerobatics website. Another step up the 3D Ziggurat for me I reckon!!! cheers Julian
  14. Just picked up a Kyosho Trainer with all the gear at a car boot - perfect for my lad! The wing is wrecked but it wouldn't be too much effort to build another and re-cover the whole model to match. I was just wondering before I got started if anyone had a wing in relatively good nick before I start raiding the old balsa stash... The fuz is sort of yellow with splashes of colour etc  cheers J
  15. What's wrong with Vista then (apart from nothing seems to run on it well apart from MS apps!!!!) I've had absolutely zero trouble with my new laptop. Even that junk sim I just got with my new RCM&E subscription installed without a problem. Mind you the transmitter broke after about 5 minutes use...
  16. In response to Mike's question. I went a bit mad there - I re-read the question...some aren't quite 'flight ready' - missing the odd servo or need a battery, but that's about it, and a couple of the gliders are only 2/3 finished. So not quite all ready to go, but not far off. A bit frightening really!!! You think that's a list? Wait till Andy Ellison posts his squadron!!! You're looking at 15+ years of hoarding models  cheers J
  17. Ahh, Lee. Should have brought your paint job to me...
  18. Eric, go have a fly and calm down...   Sheesh!
  19. Hi there,  anyone know where I can get an EPROM chip for my charger to upgrade it to v8.41 software? I gather from the Schulze website that v8.11 and beyond only require a new EPROM. Does anyone have any experience of this, or did you send it away to get it sorted. Unless you didn't know already, the upgrade configures output 2 to charge a greater range of cells, including 1-3S lipos with smaller increments of charge rate. Cheers Julian Beckett
  20. I don't think you'll have any issues with an Axi motor and Jeti ESC. Almost a match made in heaven!  But pricey... I was thinking about your ESC problem. Was the ESC configurable in any way. Sometimes they have to be programmed either with a bespoke device or from the transmitter via the throttle stick, to suit the number of poles in the motor, timing, configure braking etc. I'm no electronics guru however. Just a thought...  cheers J
  21. The only problem with buying from China, is that you have to understand the cultural differences. Equally, It's no good expecting 3-5 day turnaround if you've ordered stuff that's clearly marked out of stock! Dealing with customer service departments can be a pain, and ordering at certain times of the year (Jan-Feb), can be a real headache. A bit like trying to get anything done in Italy during August! - they're all on holiday!!! If you do buy cheap from the Orient and it goes pop, don't throw a tantrum when your emails go unanswered for days on end. Chuck it in the bin and buy something else. After all, you saved a fortune in the first place didn't you! I've found some very cheap and reliable product lines overseas. Some items are best left well alone. Chargers for instance. I learn't that lesson the hard way, buying a RC-Power 601BC charger at a huge saving from the LHS. However, when the magic smoke came out of it some days later, and it stopped working I quickly realised that return postage etc was going to add up to almost what I'd paid. If I'd bought it from a UK supplier at least i could have battered their door down! Cheers J
  22. Blimey, you've done it now. The old trouble and strife better not be peering over my shoulder...here we go, in no definitive order, some rtf, some not quite - I can't keep track!!! 23. Yep I'll agree with Jonathan here. There's a ton of good cheap gear about now. I've fallen into the designer label trap myself in the past. I guess there may be an argument for it at the cutting edge, but with the cooking middle ground it just ain't necessary to buy the latest 'man jewellery' all the time. Plenty of club mates are buying cheapie brushless motors, cells, esc's etc off the web and having a lot of success for buttons. If the odd thing does go pop, they haven't lost a kings ransom. Have a look at United Hobbies website for some idea of the huge savings on your average indoor stuff. cheers J
