  1. Thanks David, it was a grand weekend. We wont mention how much the lens cost to enable me to get these snaps lol
  2. We had a really wonderful Nationals at Walsall, and there will be more in the magazine in the coming month. This was the first time R/C has been flown at Walsall, the Free Flight guys have been using the venue for some time, but its always been too pricey for the low entry that R/C attracts, not sure why, I guess indoor R/C is too difficult ? Anyway congrats to Graham Smith for taking Gold in scale, just pipping Andrew Whites Vulcan, both very impressive models. I took bronze with my Cub. Kit scale was won by Ian Pallister flying a 33 year old Veron Tiger Moth. I would like to say I came a close second but I was miles behind, but at least I did get highest static score with my VMC Se5a, shame my flying was so rusty. Andrew White was third with KK Se5a In Flying only a win for Graham Smith again, this time with an FB8, second place was Al Foot flying a box kite. Third was last years winner Brian Seymour with a MicroAces Fokker DVII The venue is brilliant and has transformed the event, decent pictures for a start, a different funding method meant sponsors covered a good chunk of the Saturdays cost, hopefully the sponsors got good value for money and will do it all again next year. Why don't you join us?? Cheers Danny PS my Jack Savage Se ended up second to last, said my flying was rubbish....
  3. Glad you have found it useful, I have been side-tracked with the Indoor R/C Scale Nationals, brilliant event but lack of practice meant only a bronze in scale and a silver in the new kit scale. Just sorting the struts on the Auster, then we are looking at paint. I have a very old DB Sport and Scale Cub kit here if anybody wants to make me an offer, it will never get built. Cheers Danny
  4. It would be especially as the model has to be de-rigged to get in the car. I will check them regularly during a session. If I suddenly get floppy dihedral then best land!!
  5. Yeah that was bonkers, the screws are meant to go in from above, but the undercarriage is in the way!! I think my solution of some soldered nuts on the cabin side will help. I would like to have used nylocs, but maybe a drop of blue Loctite will stop them coming lose.
  6. Started to look at the struts. In the kit there are ploycarbonate (plastic) plates to sandwich in the ends of the struts as anchor plates. I had heard from others that this cracks over time so I decided some 1.5mm steel would suit my needs better. I have soldered an M2 nut on the back of the steel, and it will be epoxied into the slot in the struts once I have made the other ends and set the distances. Cheers Danny
  7. Started looking at the struts, this meant sliding the wings on. First time in ages. The wingspan is much larger than the fuselage length implies. A bit droopy at the moment but nice to see ? Cheers Danny
  8. Thanks John, I think this stuff I have is the same. Cheers Danny
  9. Hi John, you can buy pinking shears with a 2mm spacing, which is around 40% I would love to know how to make circular meshing teeth at 1.25mm (1/4 scale). Let us know how you get on, Gary Sibert had clearly found a way to make a continuous pinked cut.....
  10. With the plotter cutters you get a tacky stiff carrier sheet, the solartex can be tacked to it. I have done it for logos, just never for pinking. And you need something much, much longer. So you need to make a bigger carrier sheet, maybe from card, plastic sheet would be better.
  11. I joined them together as the gap between each is the right scale size...... If you want just one line of zig zag for testing I can do that?
  12. Email sent with test file. Keep us updated on how it goes. I might try cutting some on my plotter/cutter. Cheers Danny
  13. Created this in illustrator, pitch is 1.25mm which should be 1/4 ish. Cheers Danny
  14. I guess the TPI and length aren't important for testing? What length can you handle? and is an illustrator file okay.? Better PM me your email.
  15. Okay a quick search and this tool is in ilustrator... Unfortunately my version is too old, but I can draw it on my other half's PC if you want to play with cutting. How long a line do you want and in what format? Cheers Danny
  16. Agreed, not to mention how to hold the film still during the process, lots of problems, just shows how good an engineer Mick is. I have searched for how manufacturers cut tape continuously to no avail. Cheers Danny
  17. With glassing there are several ways that work. But not everybody finds they get on with somebody else technique. I had a modeller ask me for help because he couldnt get his cloth to lay flat. I explained that he should try a different brand of cloth. I told him what I use, but he was adament he knew better. Anyway he couldnt get a good result and bad mouthed using glass from then on. This video shows how your cloth should behave, if it doesnt then change materials. Cheers Danny
  18. Sorry if I had seen it I would have tried to help. Next time i fire up illustrator i will try something that should work. Cheers Danny
  19. I cannot believe that would be difficult, create a few in say ilustrator, then duplicate, then duplicate again?
  20. Thnk's Ron, that does look like the stuff. I will get some and see.
  21. Had a good rummage on the web John and struggling to find your first aid tape, have you a link? Cheers Danny
  22. That's very interesting thanks for that. The last batch I got from Gary was not Solartex, really don't know what it was. I will bear them in mind for future builds. The edges were the best I have seen. Cheers Danny
  23. Thanks John that's great information. My full size pinking scissors are as you say 5mm pitch. I got some lovely stuff from Gary Sibbert in the States, the company was Pink-it the difference being it was on a continuous roll. But unfortunately Gary called it a day. Cheers Danny
