  5. Most interesting. Well if the wind would abate for a day or two I would get out and do some test flying myself. Looling at the long range forcast I am going to be stuck in the house for some time!
  6. Still pondering how too detail the canopy. What have you guys done wrt this item?
  7. Posted by Jez Harris 1 on 08/05/2017 20:58:11: Hi John.. Looking great mate! Ive got your moth books etc here if you need them plus a few of my own..I also have a CD with over 1500 pics and diagrams. Jez Jez Are you able to help with putting some dimensions arround the P1 / P2 controls for the throttle and trim?
  8. In the process of building a Flair 1/4 scale Tigy. Dont suppose you guys have the dimensions of the full size side controls for Throttle and trim etc? Have lots of cockpit pictures but no scaling info.
  9. Posted by Andrew Ray on 04/05/2017 20:48:04: Andy, 78/79 mm back from the LE at the root. Hope it helps Well a quick measurement today came up with 80mmback from the LE so will fly again and try the dive test before I remove any lead.
  10. Also received my new canopy today (thanks Richard) so would be interested how each of you have modified the acrylic to give it a more realistic appearance on the model. My last one used lasso tape on the inside to replicate the structure, but found that was peeling off wrt time.
  11. Thanks for the advice gents will measure the CofG position before removing some church roof up front. Does Richard give any advice as to the elevator control thows in his instructions?
  12. Well you have got me thinking Donald as to the correct CofG position as I did not build the model although I have now done several mods to the wing which would have pushed the CofG towards the rear. What is quoted on the plan? Was thinking of increasing the elevator throw as the control is marginal in the landing run and all my landings to date have been on the hard side. Can experiment with moving the CofG back as there are several strips of church roof just behind the prop.
  13. Have to replace my canopy (for the second time) would any of you guys have a more detailed way of attaching the canopy to the model or indeed giving it some strength? Wondering if a loop of piano wire inside at the front would prevent any damage on a nose over. Luckily Richard seems to have a supply of spares but assume I could easily consume his stock holding if I continue to fly of a small grass strip.

What part is R2? can only assume it is the rotor mounting plate which would then give the blade a negative incidence. I thought, wrongly perhaps, that the blade is bolted under the rotor/delta plate, that would give the blade a positive incidence, would it not Blade is definitely mounted on the top of the plate. So still unclear on the purpose of this shim.

  17. In the process of setting up the head and blades which I purchased from AJB##. Quality being excellent. However do I really need to find the chord cog across the blade and then move 1mm back for the 3mm attachment point to the head. Wondering if a fixed measurement would be far easier and consistent given that we are all using a similar profile blade. If so what would be the measurement back from the leading edge.
  18. Thanks for the info on Coolwind models, looks a nice site and reasonable prices too. Given that I purchased some thin Carbon fiber sheet along with the head from HK will go with making a triangular plate as per the plan using my smallest drill as a pilot for all subsequent holes. Thanks all for the responses. For those interested have changed the head design by rotating the assembly 180 deg so that the two control rods now sit on the rear of the cockpit bulkheads. This then cleans up the canopy installation. Accept that the mod will push the cog back a little but should be easily compensated by moving the battery forward.
  19. Got to the bit in the build regarding the modifications to the HK head and think 2 options could work. The first is to stiffen the flexi plastic plate as supplied with the HK head with thin Carbon fiber sheet. That way the symmetry is maintained. The other is to use the plastic plate as a cutting / drilling guide for a new triangular plate similar to the plan. However this puts the outer blade hold fixture approx 10mm further from the center of rotation. Open to any suggestions as how best to proceed.
