  1. PE1 I began flying one of these very recently.. A rod secures the clear plastic box to the wings and two bolts on the upper wing secures them to fuselage. Yes the wing is loose at the front LE but doe'snt appear to affect flying. The LG is a very weak point with this plane, I beefed it up considerably. Mine flew nose up at moderate speeds, the first time, it was like a 3D plane. I put some down thrust to the motor. Hopefully that has fixed it. I will find out tomorrow. Yes, the manual is a shocker. I need reading glasses and still had to use a magnifying glass to see the so called instructions.
  2. Yep, you've put the starboard wing on the starboard side, no sweat..
  3. Do you and your mate now answer to the names Mulder and Scully ?
  4. Hello BBC I interpret invasion stripes, from rough Australian terrain, as being applied quickly, with only estimated dimensions, immediately prior to the day. From the photographs I have seen, most looked as if applied with a well worn broom. Ground crews had enough to do preparing aircraft as it was, than getting out the straight edge and draughtmans ink. I would have thought that stripes on even a 1/10 scale model would have shaky, uneven lines, with uneven width.. Accuracy is always the aim. Don't models have to be backed by documentation of the markings applied?.
  5. Thanks. All the attachment points are secure. I check my planes three times before flying. 1. At home, 2. At the field, 3, at home after returning from the field. I purchased a new DX7 radio with voice as I had difficulty, in my old age, seeing the screen on my DX6i. In transferring the model settings to my new radio I have reduced the throw without realising it. That is what I think has happened. The throw are now at the recommended rate. I won't fly it until at least the weekend. It is just too hot to be in the sun for any real length of time. The forecast is for the temp to drop to only 32C. Much more pleasant. One thing I like about the DX7 is that the switches seem further apart than the DX6i,  the user can give greater separation to functions and lessen the effect of dumb fingers. 6. I did'nt realise my dilemma would generate such interest. Gremlins. There was an unauthorised reduction of 3mm in the aileron control throw. It is not at the recommended rate. I balanced a two blade, checked the motor mounts , so vibration should be a lot better. I have been coming to terms with my new radio so that may have been the chance the gremlins needed to infiltrate. It is late summer here. The days are fine, the winds fair but the forecast tomorrow is 40+C . So I won't be test flying tomorrow. I'm staying out of that sort of heat for an extended time. It's been a long hot summer. I think I'll stay in the shade, read RCM & E and have a cold beer instead. Thanks.
  7. Thanks Colin and MP. Got it to work on the HOLD which appears the only selection in capitols. MP- I was doing all that but selected both ON and OFF, perhaps I need only select one. I'll try it later. Got it to work anyway Thanks boys.
  8. Hello. I set the throttle disable function on switch H, being a two position switch and it works as advertised. What I can't do is tie a voice alert to that switch for that function. I can get voice for dual rates and timer. When I throw the switch from throttle on to off, I get a tone. There must be some where in the system to change the tone to voice but be damned I can't find it. I searched the Spectrum subject thread and can't see anyone having a similar issue. Voice alerts is the main reason I purchased this radio, so I have to understand how to pull up these voice alerts. The manual is about as clear as the mud on the bottom of the Murrumbidgee River. Hoping some one may have a solution.   Thanks. Edited By kooka on 22/02/2016 22:18:29
  9. Hello pilots. Looking for some advice. I was at the field today and my PKZ T28 is not flying like it should. 1. It did'nt roll as it did. I adjusted the aileron throw at the clevis from the factory setting by one notch toward the servo. It seemed improve the roll but not significantly so. Is that the place to make the adjustment or at the servo itself. The servos are tight, the throws as recommended and the radio is fine. 2. It has some vibration. The prop is my 1st port of call. What is the G O about balancing the 3 blade plastic prop fitted. I have a Du Bro balancer. It seems to work OK on a 2 blade prop, not so certain about that third blade. Thanks.
  10. I had a digital subscription to QEF and did not like it, so did not renew the subscription. Much prefer the written magazine. I get RCM and E each month at the newsagent, although a couple of months after publication, as well as the main aussie mag. I read it all and remove the pages of real interest to me and file them. Having said that I read novels and short stories on Kindle, but prefer hard copies for magazines. Digital is OK for reading large expanse of narrative but unsuitable for viewing pictures. Having to pinch in and out to see a picture drives me troppo. Hope the printed media will be around for a while yet. Magnifying glasses are still available, at least in this part of the world.
  11. Thanks boys. I will default to the side of caution. Cheers.,
  12. Hello, Has anyone adjusted the throttle tension on the new DX7. The manual states to remove the battery before doing so. I realise this is a generic warning, but is it necessary? I can't imagine what damage could be done if the radio is switched off. Just hoping for some advice before adjusting. Thanks.
  13. Thanks everyone. DX7 should arrive next few days.
  14. Hello, I have been lucky enough to shout myself a Spektrum DX7 transmitter to relieve the load on my DX6i. While it is on it's way my question is- Are there any issues in rebinding DSMX receivers in my models from the 6i to my new transmitter? Thanks.
  15. Hello, Any one out there flying a 1400mm Hobby King Cub or Grass hopper ? Just curious about control throws before I commit this one to flight. Thanks, and Merry Christmas. Ian

My question answered. Thanks to everyone. Ian

    2 part epoxy

Been using 2 part epoxy both 5 minute and 30 minute in small jobs.. Does the 30m cure time provide a stronger bond, or is it just the curing times. Thanks
  18. Hello, I have a foam warbird kit and I want to remove the vynal decals from it and replace with markings of a different nationality. I don't want to damage the underlying camouflage paint. I thought applying gentle heat may weaken the adhesive and allow me to ease the decals off. The kit is still in the box, just gathering my thoughts. I would appreciate any thoughts/suggestions. Thanks.
  19. Thanks kc and leccyflyer. Was able to source some Prymol here in Australia. A bit of caution may save some angst. Thanks.
  20. Hello, 1st post, please be gentle. Looking to re-paint a Durafly Ryan. It has a plastic type covering to the main wing. I was intending to use an acrylic paint. Are there any issues with that paint on that covering in terms of durability and adhesion. Thanks, Ian
