  1. does anyone know how long a lipo can be left in storage capacity before they require topping up .as I wont be flying much over the next few months and have some very expensive 6 cells currently put as storage
  2. sorry I just wont risk possible damage to 3rd parties or property for the price of a battery . I tend to err on the side of caution I replace my on board batteries and transmitter batteries every 2 yrs all my models have telemetry to monitor battery voltage during flight also good for highliting tight or over pushing servo setups. just me being a bit insecure I guess
  3. sorry my mistake I should have said Steve Webbs ..Frodsham.
  4. bought a futura edf from webbies 2weeks ago after 2 flights esc packed up returned to shop the lad there spent some time checking to confirm the fault was the esc then phones the supplier.2 days later new esc arrived ,an hour after phone call from webbs to see if it had arrived and was everything ok..proper service thanks
  5. Fair enough will have to bash my credit card. thanks for replies
  6. not camping may stay in digs nearby depends on whether we have to pay for next day (i am paying for 4 so will get pricey if we get charged twice)
  7. Does anyone know if the cosford ticket price of £10 each is for 1 days admittance or can you re enter on the sunday? not sure if to go for 1 or 2 days and stay over
  8. Sorry to hear of people losing models, With Spektrum you can get a bit of piece of mind by fitting a telemetry (t1000) unit. this will monitor any fades on your recievers so helps with positioning within models. its ok to get a 100 or so fades with dsmx as they show its frequency hopping. the telemetry also records any holds (loss of signal) even 1 is a no..no on all models the telemetry will show receiver voltage so in the event of a bad connection or binding servo the on board alarm can be configured to show this. on the subject of bad connections not many of us would be happy if our life support machine used the servo and switch connections that our models use?????
  9. I have a dx9 works great but on most of my models i have fitted a telemetry unit (TM100).When flying the trannie will notify via voice if on board battery voltage drops below 4v also warns if receiver gets any holds ie loss of signal. will tell me if trannie battery getting low. I have found the low voltage alarm for the receiver is useful for warning about tight or over stretching servo to surfaces setup. Around £30 for peace of mind. no reason why you couldnt buy just 1 and transfer between models.
  10. The idea of recovering a flat lipo sounds ok . BUT when the model goes in weeks/ months later is it worth the uncertenty of not knowng the reason for the crash..trannie ...reciever dodgy connections OR battery failure? makes me wonder how many beginners will try this then when the £10 battery fails and the model goes up in flames start a thread blaming Spektrum or jr ?
  11. Just had a look at at tarranis problem site and its a bigger nightmare than spektrum loads of unexplained crashes but because the system is so complicated no real solutions all 2.4 systems no matter how much they cost have problems mostly caused by the owners lack of knowledge
  12. Just posting to ask if anyone has had similar experience . two os 46 axs latest models bought new at different times from leading retailers. both properly run in as os instructions both ran faultlesly, ran slightly rich as flat out speed not req. after 8 or so months 1 engine note slightly changed with a slight knocking noise whipped head off and appears chrome liner coming away on one engine a couple of score marks on piston on the other not as much bearings clean no play. both engines stored with two stroke oil inside during lay offs . i should add this happened at different times more than 6 months between incidents.both using weston liquid gold 5% When buying the first engine i assumed the chrome liner failings were on the old design ie ones with hs needle 90 deg across body mine are the later type angled needle.i have several models with sc engines no such problems cant get any help from horizon as i dont have receipts will learn to keep them next time. may be bad luck on my part but would be curious to know if anyone has had similar as i have one more OS still in box very reluctant to try it as again like a clot dont have a receipt
  13. Have had some degree of success. I have dropped the throttle travel to 83 and have gained about 10% more throttle range. I would think that we will have to mess about as in my case anything lower than 82 and the throttle wont work after battery disconnection. I think I will leave it at this as it is a lot better than before ..hope others have the same success, Stew
