  1. I started out with an old RCS set - servos the size of house bricks. Didn't RCS stand for Radio Controlled Sometimes?
  2. Cool, with all these guys going to 2.4GHz, I'll soon have the 35MHz band all to myself.
  3. I have a TT hawk 2000 that flies beautifully. I know it's a bit more of your hard earned, but Gliders in Newark have the (Graupner?) Cumulus XXL which again is ARTF with a V tail. You can get a glider nose cone for it so the best of both worlds.
  4. Whatever floats your boat! I am returning to modelling after a lay off for a few years. Is there an A certificate for glider flying as well as power? Or do I have to get one of those oily / smelly / loud things? I did try power a couple of times, but the instructors always made me feel like a bl**dy nuisance. Agree with you about slopers though - mad as a box of frogs but really nice guys.
  5. No, still couldn't sort it. Went out and bought a FF9c super transmitter. What's it like? Ooooooooh!!!
  6. Maybe it's me but I find the manual for the Futaba 7C a bit - well, wooly. My question is this; is it possible to programme the Futaba 7C transmitter to set wing camber changing. I am building a full house glider - i.e. flaps, ailerons etc. and want to couple the flaps and ailerons to alter the camber on the wing. Ideally it would be on the 3 position switch to give a slight positive camber for launching and stooging around, a neutral position for general use and a slightly negative camber for fast flying out of sink or whatever. Also, there is no mention of setting up CROW brakes. Anyone able to help?
  7. OK back again. The fuselage is finished and ready to cover. The wings are almost complete, just have to hinge the ailerons and epoxy glass the wing joint, then cover. This has been one of the easier builds I've had and the quality of my kit, including the hardware, is first rate. When she's ready to go I'll post a couple of pictures.
  8. Update for me too... The back end is finished and all the slots cut for the hinges. I'm about to fit the front top cowling which should finish it off nicely. I have fitted the fuel tank and installed the throttle pushrod before hand as this would be almost impossible afterward. I've had to add the final dogleg bend to the pushrod in situ as once it's there it's not coming out again. Got the undercarriage soldered up at the weekend. Looks a bit industrial at the moment but will clean up nicely. I didn't have any connecting wires between the two prebent items, so I fashioned some out of thein brass rod, and bound it together with thin copper wire which soldered together really well. Just make sure you clean them really well and put plenty of flux around the joint. Father in law is a plumber so that helped! Mine will be covered in yellow solarfilm - old hat I know but I like it. I'll take a couple of pics when the front is finished.
  9. My preferences would be 1. Typhoon 2. Beaufighter 3. B25
  10. Got the back end finished - everything fits nice and snug as long as the stern post is in straight. I've been putting off fitting the top cowling, but it's going to have to be done. Did you have to chop away much of the front former? My GP42 has the carb. quite a way forward and I'll have to remove some of it, and possibly the top of the ABS moulding aswell.
  11. I've done the fuselage and just about to start the tail feathers this weekend. Are you going to fit the wing struts and if so how were you going to attach them? I bought a Thunder Tiger fs54 but when I tried it it looked a bit OTT, so that will have to go into my next project - possibly a Wot 4.
  12. I recently upgraded to a FF7. You can get the transmitter with nicd and charger from Inwood models for about £99. Join a club though if you want to get the best out of the hobby.
  13. I'm building a Flair Cub myself at the moment, and luckily I've had no problems. What engine are you planning to fit? I'm using a Thunder Tiger GP42.
