  1. Hello, Thanks everyone. Have been on suggested sites and am happy, no problems. Now I just need the weather to be ok. I bought a Hobbyking Walrus and lipos while I was in Germany last month. Have found a local club and they were very helpful etc. Now my wife can spend time with her family, friends and go to the winter markets without me being bored. Many thanks Geof
  2. Hello, I am taking a Spektrum DX6i which has 4 1900 mAh eneloop rechargeable AA batteries. I rang Eurowings in Germany this morning. Conversation should have been in English but I had to use a bit of German as the call centre person didn't understand much about rc flying. The transmitter has to go as hand luggage (as I intended) but I think there is a limit of 1600 mAh for the batteries - not 100% on this as the conversation was then in German. Geof
  3. Hello, Flying to Germany next week. Are there any problems with taking a transmitter and a few spares (ESC ,motor, charger) on the plane ? I have a kit to build and lipos already in Germany. Thanks Geof
  4. Hello, DX9 is back. Repair and carriage was free. Two months from sending to Germany to return to Uk. Geof
  5. Hello, It's back !!!!!!!!! The DX9 is back. Repair and return carriage was free. Two months from sending to Germany to return to UK. Geof
  6. Hello, Well, hopefully the end is near .... my friend's DX9 is on the way back to the uk. This afternoon I persuaded my wife to ring Germany. It did take 3 attempts but maybe we were ringing at lunchtime and neither main reception or service direct line were answering. Anyway 3rd attempt later and Thomas picked up in the service department. As usual the conversation was in German. My wife then announced it was sent with DPD on Tuesday. Quick call to tell my friend the good news. Fingers crossed. Geof
  7. Hello David D, My wife has been in contact with HH Germany service department regarding my friend's DX9 repair. There are details on the DX9 broken thread. She has always gets through on the phone , only waiting max 3 minutes. She speaks fluent German and speaks direct to a man in service dept. Anyway my friends dx9 was sent from Germay to USA for repair. Last Friday it was in customs in Germany. Hope to ring today and see if it is on the way back today. Geof
  8. Transmitter back in Germany. This morning it was with customs. It should be back with HH Germany tomorrow. Geof
  9. Update on dx9 sent to Germany for repair It should have returned from USA to Germany on 15th Sept. My wife rang today and spoke to one of the technicians. The transmitter has not arrived and could you ring back in 2 days. Geof
  10. Hello, If you look on the thread 'My DX9 transmitter has stopped working' you can read about our dealings with HH Germany this week. My wife, speaks fluent German and was able to get through to the service department . Geof
  11. Hello, Unfortunately we were unable to call Germany HH before they stopped work. I forgot the time difference and we rang at 2.30 pm to be told by reception that service had closed. Anyway my wife tried this morning and after a few minutes of music got through to the service department. She was told that my friend's DX9 has been forwarded to America to be repaired. They only have 3 technicians and it is quicker and cheaper for them to do this. It should return to Germany on Friday 15th and hopefully arrive back in England between 18th - 22nd September. Geof All conversations on the phone are in German - I am sure it helped..
  12. Today we made contact with Horizon Hobbies Germany ! A friend had sent his DX9 for repair in August, recorded and insured. He received a confirmation of delivery on 3rd August from Post Office but since then nothing from Germany. He knew we spend a lot of time in Germany and that my wife speaks fluent German so asked her to help.. He had rung himself , sent e-mails etc but no response. We have family in Germany so have an inexpensive option for phone calls to Germany for up to one hour at a time. Anyway with all the details the first two calls hit the recorded message and hold etc. A quick call to our daughter in Germany confirmed this was still happening when she rang. So on attempt 3 I said to leave the phone on and we can listen to the music. A few minutes later a live voice. My wife explained everything (in German) and was given a reply of it has arrived but is still not repaired. Arrived 3rd of August BUT we did not open the package until the 30th August ! Ring back tomorrow and we will give you and update. Fingers crossed. . Geof
  13. Thanks for all your advice.so far, I am thinking I should : 1. Buy a new soldering iron. I previously thought of buying a 50W variable temperature one from 4max or is a standard 60W better ? Is the Weller (instant) pistol one any good ? 2. Remove some of the wiring. 3 Can I use an adapter ? I still have 2 batteries with original connectors. Geof
  14. Hello, I am changing the connectors ( to xt60) on an E-Pioneer I bought second hand. The ESC was ok but now I have a problem with the new Turnigy 3300 4s lipos.I bought. The leads ( 4mm bullit - from HK) seem too thick for the cup on the xt60 connector. Also is a 40 watt soldering iron sufficient for the job as it doesn't seem to be able to tin the end of the lead. very well. Thanks Geof
  15. I started the thread before your comments on the Spektrum/JR section. Furthermore I thought I might get some information from people who do indoor flying.( the Vapor is designed for mainly indoors) I don't think everyone follows every section of the forum.
