  1. Well I thought i would offer just a couple of pics up front of the model prior to paint but on completion of the construction. All very standard balsa ply traditional format, an older OS 70 four stroke up front should give more than adequate power and generous wing area should make for nice slow speed performance. Its a big cockpit area so I need a character pilot for this one I think. I was going to g with flaps but decided not to bother in the end as the weight and wing area is so good but we'll see when it comes to flight performance if some retro work might be required. Linds
  2. Thought i would just add this design which i have been working on for a while will post a build blog if sufficient interest Model is 65" span for 60-70 size four stroke or electric equivalent, model now built and ready for paint and test flights. Free plan? maybe Linds
  3. Looks very nice indeed Tim, well done that man, you've inspired me to restore an old JE Dallas Zither Banjo i picked up at an auction (can't play Banjo - yet, mind you some say I can't play guitar either) . Linds
  4. I built mine back in 1999 when they first came out. Fitted with a Zenoah 45cc petrol gives adequate power but you do need a shallow dive for loops and then keep up the momentum. I can't complain though as I still have her after 20 years and still looks good and fly's great. There was an incidence issue as already reported with a climb under power being quite noticeable. I increased the incidence on the tail plane by probably 2-2.5 degrees to counter and largely resolved the issue, later plans I believe were rectified so it will depend on the age of the kit if this correction has been applied. I still think this is probably my all time favourite model though. Linds
  5. Best use I have found was for my 3 cylinder dummy engine on my Dawn Flyer - never throw anything away Linds
  6. Excellent Tim, I have a couple of Guitalele myself but not ventured into a complete build as yet. Look forward to strumming strings with you again sometime. Linds
  7. My own design Focker D7, little sticker inside says built 1982, flown pretty much every year since, lost count of the number of flights some years ago so hate to think how many but lots and lots! Linds
  8. Just a few pics from an all to brief attempt at the Great Orme. Wind is never there when you want it! Just the one flight in very iffy lift conditions, I was really pushing my luck I think as it was really marginal but at least got another flight in. Last shot was caught by my wife just after launch.
  9. Hi Danny, thanks for the input, yes I have a bag of Herculite also and if I find the temperature required is any higher than 120-130 degrees then your probably right although good old fairy liquid as a release barrier has remarkable properties which we used in my old refractory engineering days, however I have no intention of risking the plug unduly and will probably cast a plaster plug at the very least first as a 'just in case' spare. Linds
  10. I was not to happy with the eyes so managed to track down some plastic 'teddy bear' items, much better I think hopefully will get a break and get out to fly it again soon Linds
