  2. I also enjoy your column Andy, and frankly find little else of interest (my fault, not the mag's).However I second Andy in that as much as I enjoy oogling the bling, I would also like to see some talk of more affordable kit. Looking back in old RM as well as RCM&E, I see reviews of Chris Foss models and other sports kit. All of it perfectly good slope arsenal. I guess you just have to go where the development is - and you already do that when talking about Dreamflight, MPX or any of the Chinese crunchies. It's a niche part of the aeromodelling world, so there won't be reams to write, and we don't want to encourage too many to the fray in case we find our slopes too busy!  Keep up the good work
  3. Cheers Al  Too busy carrying 97 Kilos of butyl up onto my roof today - needs must!
  4. This belongs in the Gliders thread David...   As far as I know ZADAG is the same as Goop, and can be thinned with toluene. I've used ZADAG on my EPP Jart - but I didn't apply a thinned coat.   Also look out for Andy E's articles on finishing EPP models - all the info you need!
  5. I've learned that my Luna is Good To Go. It won't be long until Lee posts the build thread then!
  6. I agree Tom! Is this scratch built or a kit? I'd love a PSS Hawk...
  7. I have been in and out of aeromodelling for as long as I can remember, and Boddo was always there.I am sure he will continue to be as influential as he always was, and he lives on every time one of his designs takes to the air. Very fitting. Rest in peace Boddo.
  8. If there's one thing I never take to the slope that's the Missus! For one thing she might actually see all the toys in one place at the same time!
  9. I throw my worries, stresses and woes off the slope, and return home unwound, chilled and happy
  10. Posted by Tom Foreman on 01/04/2010 08:18:34: Your not alone Ed, there is a dark underbelly of mischievous slopers hanging around here!   Tom    Spoken like a true sloper!  We may be silent, but we can be deadly!
  11. Ooh - and don't forget the venerable Skua  Ballastable, race-able and very well-liked, this model still sits on my wishlist. Wowings Skua
  12. Mine is all done bar the 'incidence' whatever that is* I'm sure there will be plenty if 'incidents' when I get my hands on it though  Al - Lee has been having 'fun' programming my JR radio for flight modes - perhaps you can help him out please?  * please don't all chime in with a full break-down of what incidence actually is. I know what it is, as it's still in the box with the 'CofG', and I will be emailing it to Lee later tonight
  13. Hey TImbo - you didn't say how you (and now I too) have flown Wildthings in 50+ off the rock. Unballasted too!
  14. ... and should anybody be tempted by all my rambling, they can now order one directly from Sloperacer  http://www.sloperacer.co.uk/_content/jartEpp.asp
  15. Nice one Tom  What are you going to cover it with?
  16. I have also found that I don't get bored doing HUGE halfpipes - the energy in that lump of foam is staggering.   BTW - I don't have any expo on the elevator, and yet it feels like I do. It kind of comes in slowly - softly almost - and then kicks in and up she goes like a rocket.   O-er - I think I need to get back on that hill!
  17. The pilot is the issue. Damn thing rolls so fast my brain couldn't keep up.   Now with 60% expo dialed in on the ailerons it's become a (relative) pussycat. I have also learned to just let it go, let it get it's speed on - like I do with all my toys - just this time it's that little bit quicker.   Now I love the Fart - the way it cuts through is just fabulous and it feels as though it's a power model.
  18. Just posting to say that this afternoon I improved the Lloyd-Jart ratio with two flights and two clean landings up at Pole Cottage!   I also flew my Blizzard in a blizzard. Is this a first?!
  19. It's 'cos we don't have any models to talk about yet Timbo! Alex's is still under the knife, mine is still in gestation, and yours is still waiting for it's moment  As soon as they spring to life I'm sure we'll have lots to talk about
  20. You never know - at some point one of us will post something here actually related to the thread subject!
  21. Lee's going to post a build thread Timbo. The build takes a while when you've got to set up every photo just right - hide the beer etc - stuff like that is bound to slow you down  So you'll get to see the whole process - and I'll include notes on my maiden - which should be interesting as this is my first mouldie. Expect adjectives! Edited By Matthew Lloyd on 24/03/2010 17:36:28
