  1. Anyone tell me what the FMS 80mm Hawk is like to fly and the quality of the kit .It is a lot more expensive then the Freewing 70mm Hawk ?. Is it worth the extra ????
  2. Thinking about a project for this winter and was thinking it is about time I had a Spitfire again .I have not had a Spitfire since the old Kyosho Spitfire RIP .I like the look of the Black Horse Spitfire 61 .Now about what engine .I have a Laser 80 spare but would that be OK or would it be better on a Laser 100 ?
  3. Hi Don yes you are right I do have a Laser 180 in my Wots Wot XL and yes it is a perfect combination and I love my 180 .It just I that I keep being told at our club field not to be a dinosaur a move with the times , now you mentioned it a Laser 180 would be a better bet ,I just love the sound of the Laser engine . I think the answer is simple really .It is obvious it is starring me in the face .I love Laser engines ,I am not that keen on 2 stokes ,I prefer 4 stokes so I have answer my own question .Wait until Jon brings out that long awaited 4 stoke petrol engine !!!!!!!!!!!! Problem resolved
  4. Thinking of installing a petrol engine in a Acro Wot XL.Having never use a petrol engine ,always had glow but must move with the times and it seems petrol is the future of ic models I can not decide on going for the slight more expensive 35cc DLE engine or the cheaper NGH engine from Just Engines ..Some times it is cheaper to buy the dearer engine over the cheaper engine but what is the quality of these NGH engine like .Because it will be my first petrol engine I am a bit lost in all the jargon just need to be put in the right direction
  5. Just my luck ,someone has jus told me that Black Horse have stop making the 45 cc Chipmunk .I have just emailed Ripmax to see if that is true
  6. Thanks everyone .I can order one with confidents now .I thought the Laser 180 would fly it the Laser 180 like all Laser is a great engine
  7. Will a Laser 180 power the Black Horse Chipmunk ,the 45cc one with the I think is 82" wingspan .I know it says it is for a 45 cc petrol engine but I am sure my Laser 180 would fly it but want to make sure before I buy the model .If it is not up to it ,it would be a good excuse to wait for the Laser petrol engines to become available but not sure if I will be able to afford one but they do sound good but I am getting away from my original question which is will my Laser 180 fly the big Black Horse Chipmunk ? 8. Well that answers my question ,0.5 to 0.10.Next question .My exhaust valve had quite a gap and the inlet valve was tight close with no gap ,would this explain the lack of power from my Laser 90 or is this wishful thinking and the real reason is it is old and knackered and time to replace it !!!
  9. Can anyone tell me what the exhaust and inlet valve clearance are old the old style Laser 90
  10. About to buy an electric Mustang .It has come down to Freewing 1400 Mustang or the FMS 1400 Mustang Only difference I can see is the Freewing Mustang has a 580 kv motor ,where has the FMS mustang has only a 540 kv motor Being fairly new to electric flight (Mainly an ic man just started on electric ) I still have a lot to learn How much difference will the 580kv motor have over the FMS 540 kv motor , or will they be similar in performance .I would assume the Freewing Mustang with the 580 kv motor would be the one to go for .
  11. The other 120 four stroke someone suggested was the ASP 120 but I thought this was a budget type engine and not sure of the quality of this engine but I could be wrong
  12. Need a new good 120 four stroke engine .My favourite four stoke engines are almost hard to obtain and are always out of stock so I will have to find a replacement and OS are the next best engines but it looks like OS no longer do a 120 four stoke but I see there are a few OS 120 E four stokes available still, just wonder what they are like ?
  13. Are there any benefits on having a 6v receiver pack to the 4.8 receiver pack I have all 4.8 receiver packs but everyone is telling me to switch to 6v receiver packs but why ?
  14. Thanks everyone panic over it just completed the charge and the total v is 7.29 ,Is that about right for a 6 V 5 C 3800 Sub C battery ? Thanks Frank i have set it all up thanks to your advice
  15. No ,I am charging the pack at the moment on 0.5 and it is going from 7.45 down to 7.31 ,not sure what is happening .It is on the charge setting but seems to be discharging the pack ????
  16. Not sure my Overlander RC-65 Battery charger will let you set it manually it is set for Nimh at 2.0 when you start charging but I do not know why after it reached 7.45 it started discharging down to 7.35.Maybe i will have by another charger?
  17. Just brought a 6 volt 3800 Sub C battery pack ,this is the first time I have had a Sub C battery pack before and I am having trouble trying to charge it I have set my battery charger to Nimh battery and started charging it ,after 70 minutes it reached 7.45 v than started to go down to 7.35 and also the battery pack started to become hot so I stop charging the battery pack .What am I doing wrong and how should you charge a Sub C battery pack .Do not want to burn my house down
  18. Almost finished the Wots Wot XL .Just one more question .Am I right the bottom wing halves are not glued together ,they stay has two halves and are held on only by the wing bolts and wing lugs and metal wing spar.and there is no need to glue the two halves together ?
  19. Thanks I'll get on and order them now ,Thanks
  20. Just started putting this Wots Wot XL together .The clevis that come with kit are awfully ,no way am I going to use them so I need to buy some decent clevis. No being the clearest builder out there I need to no what size I need to fit on the push rod provided I thought it would be easy the old clevis are 3mm but when I went to order some they come in M2 ,M3 etc I would think I need M3 clevis but be gratefully if someone could confirm what size I need for this Wots Wot XL before I order the wrong ones
  21. I am using 6c 4300mah .Being an EDF you will only have about 3 minute maybe 4 minute if you are not heavy handed
  22. Yes I am going back to leaving them fully charged and ready to go .Makes it more convenient when you want to go flying and not have wait hours waiting for your lipo to charge up
  23. This is very interesting but It has left me totally confused (that is not hard to do!)I used to charge my lipo to fully charged after my days flying and left them fully charge ready to go the next time I went flying but was told it was not a good practice and you should leave the batteries in storage mode and charge them up just before you go flying So what is the best leave them in storage mode or leave them fully charged.I must admit that when I left them fully charged up ready to go .I had no problem and might go back to that after reading this thread
  24. Finally received my spitfire and almost finished building it I an using 6s 43000 battery and I have had to add a fair bit of lead to get the Cof G right .Anyone had to add weight to get the Cof G right on the 1600mm spitfire
