  1. Hi Guy's just a thought I've got a few rolls of self adhesive alloy tape obtained from an engineering supply shop we use it for covering up holes and hydraulic hose ends etc when doing rebuilds on earthmoving equipment its very sticky will even stay on when steam cleaning components comes in different widths too Has a wax paper backing on it I have used to make windscreen frames for my Frog gliders it is thick enough to polish with brasso can be stretched slightly without tearing too They also sell loctite products too 401 and 406 are very useful industrial strength superglues the tape is 0.25mm thick would this be worth an experiment I was thinking of using soapy water to stop it sticking and trying to form it around compound curves don't worry I will wait until the build starts proper just bouncing ideas around need to buy a table and chair for my shed Cheers Vince
  2. Wasn't trying to start a diverse discussion but will finish my own design electric glider and join a club here in Victoria before even starting this build have only recently moved here from wa. Sorry for being so keen but for a first proper scale model I was looking forward for some help if needed and maybe be able to add some thing to the thread even if it just enthusiasm can't afford the wood pack but as Danny has said patterns are on the plan I will order it tomorrow when it gets here I'll have a look and go from there I'm not trying to start earlier than planned but as I said earlier I've wanted to build this since I was 10 years old plenty of time to accumulate materials and experience before the build starts can't promise I'll wait until October though
  3. Trying not to seem too keen but absolutely fizzing at the bung to build this as its been the one and only scale model I've had any desire to build since I was 10 years old thought a bit about about posting this in case its embarrassing but decided to anyway as 53years old now and very hard to embarrass
  4. Sorry for spelling grammer etc fat finger bad eyes and not so smart phone syndrome
  5. Hello Chris re the wing tips I built a junior 60 three years ago from the kk plan on outerzone and has to cut and shut the wing tips what I did was laminate 3mm balsa to make 6mm as the 6mm I could get was way too soft I staggered the joins though and althogg it's not clear on the plan you have to butt join the trailing edge flat on the plan and raise the leading edge of the wing tip to be central with the leading edge of the wing this will mean that when pinned down it will be angled up towards the leading edge I know these are two different planes but the construction method is identical the super 60 has a Clark y section and the junior 60 is under cambered but on both when pinned to the plan the leading edge is raised probably wont make any difference but I built mine as you have and changed it later as when I was sanding it it just didn't look right you have to crack the lower spar at the last rib and lift it slightly to meet the lower surface of the wing tip and chamfwr and crack the upper spar to meet the top surface of the tip about 6mm in from the outside edge then round off by sanding can't show pics as I've lost my wing although its covered clear yellow and you could see what I mean
  6. Wife's going shopping tomorrow will order the plan while she's out can't wait to have a peruse as have a week or so to go before I have to start work again time to set up my shed methinks l
  7. How about an internal duct from the rad intake going forwards to exit under the motor and flowing around the battery exiting from the rear of the rad.ESC mounted in the rad it looks quite deep
  8. I'm going to go electric haven't seen the plan yet but was thinking about putting the ESC in the radiator the motor I have will drive a 16+8 prop at 10000+rpm without getting warm probably overkill but I may need the nose weight also as a mechanic too much power doesn't exist you can control the throttle what would be the scale prop dia. And rpm at this size
  9. Sorry if it seems a bit garbled but typing on my phone and keypad, obscures script on screen and have fat fingers so often press three keys at the same time
  10. Thanks for the reply Danny will now order the plan, agree that my questions make me seem inexperienced but bending and soldering, brazing etc are part ofy skillset at work I'm a qualified heavy duty diesel mechanic, and can arc weld etc no probs swinging big hammers if necessary is also doable bit not in my small shed,my wife let me do carpentry as a hobby for years because I could make stuff to fit not trying to prove a point but now I have the opportunity to further prove my modelling skillset with you guys help of course is what I am looking for I have been an avid reader of all the ukcaa threads for ages and until I saw this thread my next build was going to be a Blue Angel having just moved house I'm keen to start building again but I think I'll finish my glider first need to improve my flying skills will join badmac next week for somewhere to practice sorry for the long post but keen to give it a go Cheers Vince
