  1. I bought a couple of Zeee 3700mAh 60C 4Ss last year which seem pretty good. However I also bought a couple of Zeees marked as 3200mAh 50C 3S, and have been very disappointed with their effective capacity, which seems nearer to around 2800mAh - put it this way, they didn’t give as long a flight time as my well used Turnigy 3000mAh 25-50C 3Ss in the same model - so somewhat optimistically marked perhaps.

Just a comment on this this point, IR isnt a scare issue at all, increasing IR is just the natural degradation of a cell over time.  IR has zero effect until some current is flowing and so can be ignored whilst cells are in storage.

Ammo boxes - yes, they're cheap, convenient and almost designed for the job  🙂

Discharging to storage v is a good plan if the packs are left unused for an extended time ie over winter, but less essential if you fly every weekend - you can trade convenience for some loss of longevity. At one time discharging was a chore but now almost all chargers have a storage function so theres no reason not to 🙂

It sounds like you're well within the happy medium between paranoia and apathy, you obviously respect their potential and you've taken steps to minimise the risk.   Its all good 🙂

    Cheers

What he said. But if using ammo boxes (like I also do), don’t forget to remove the lid seal, so won’t explode if there is a fire.

I think the basic price of the Linn LP12 in the 80's was about 400 notes without arm and cartridge. I spent many hours in the "Audiofile" in Bishops Stortford listening to all sorts of gear that was way, way over my price range. Linn Lp12 + Naim amps + Linn Isobariks. Oh what happy days.

It’s the law of diminishing returns with hi-fi. The difference between a £250 turntable and a £500 turntable will be audible, however the differences between one at £25000 one and one costing £50000 probably less so.

It isn't just the British... look at the 'gilets jeune's' - sure they put up a fight for a while but in the end fuel prices still went up, Macron is still in power and the retirement age is still going up.

We don’t even put up a fight, we just moan amongst ourselves a bit and then roll over and take it.

Good idea! I can see it now, a few old boys with banners at Downing street threatening to bring the country to a standstill if the caa dont leave us alone.

Nothings changed in wales even with the outrage over the 20mph speed limit, same in London over ulez, its all still happening!

Do you really think the Caa would have "no choice but to renegotiate" if we rebelled.

Because we’re British, we just put up and shut up 🤫.

This appears to be one of the so called ‘audit’ videos of a type I’ve seen on YT before. They deliberately fly over or near military, police or company installations to try and get a reaction from their security staff. They use their knowledge of drone law to try and argue their case, but it always seems a pointless and inflammatory pursuit to me.

There was no 19 digit registration number on the drone that killed 7 people and blew up several vehicles firing missiles and with an onboard machine gun and anti-personnel bombs which featured on telly last night. Vigil's  Suranne Jones had to identify it from the two letters and the number 1 on the side of the drone.

A better start at least than the inside of the supposed nuclear submarine which appeared in the first series of Vigil, which resembled the inside of the Tardis. I seem to remember it received a lot of derision in the press for the ridiculous amounts of space there seemed to be for the cast to move around in.

  8. Yep, concur with Don. Don’t use sky blue, it’ll disappear against a blue sky. Don’t use green either - why do you think fighter planes use green for camouflage?!

Black, or at least wide black stripes or blocks are good for visibility on the bottom of a model, and use contrasting colours and patterns on the top & bottom. It’s very important to be able to tell top from bottom of the model at a distance.

Yes that’s fine PDB, but photos I take on my phone won’t then be available on my iPad (where they are better viewed due to the larger screen).

  10. I thought I'd heard of ads being setup with a ludicrous price (which obviously won’t sell) just as a placeholder, to get an item onto a website, which they intend to amend once they’ve established a proper price. Although I admit that doesn’t seem to be the case here.

Yes, I only discovered recently that you can do that. I wanted to print just the top 1/2 inch of a large fuelage section to check something, and didn't want to print the whole thing, which would take 9 hours and waste a load of filament if it didn't work properly.

Thanks. That seems a sensible way of doing it and I'll have to look into it. BTW the IDig PLA that you recommended is just coming to the end of it's reel and it's been by far the best filament that I've used -completely hassle free, other than the terrible communications and extended delivery time from the company. It's so good though that I've bitten the bullet and reordered from them - will see if they do better this time.

My Ender 5 Pro is a bit restricted for space also. I just looked at the flexible enclosure tents available from Creality, but unfortunately it's just too big to fit into the space that I have available. I really don't want to have to move the printer, but the maximum footprint I can afford is 700mmx650mm. There are designs online to make an enclosure from plexiglass or polycarbonate sheets, but the ones I've seen are all horrendously complex for what is a fairly simple task.

Shame you've just reordered from iDig!  I ordered two further reels of Colorfabb LW-PLA and a reel of their Varioshore TPU from a company called 123-3D, who are a larger well established company here in the UK - unfortunately I hadn't come across them at the time of my original recommendation. I had much better communication from them, indeed they sent me an email to apologise for the fact that there would be a delay in despatching the TPU, and would that be OK?

I haven't got room for an enclosure around my printer either, it's on top of a small pair of filing cabinets in the corner of my office, and already overhangs slightly at the front. So as I said in my previous post, I just treat the whole room as a cabinet, and go out and close the door sometimes.
