  1. Yes, I am familiar with your page. I was halfway through sending you an email to ask if you wanted it, before I realised it was you posting here.
  2. What’s the link for net zero please? I can only find environment sites when I google that.
  3. Ok, will do. Back in the day this used to be the busiest site!
  4. OK, I'm assuming no interest so will dispose of it imminently.
  5. Just in case anyone enjoys collecting & restoring vintage RC electronics - I have the following: 4 channel TX 2 channel TX 2 channel RX 4 channel RX 4 servos RX switch assembly charger All free, to a good home. Collection from Farnborough, Hants.
  6. Thanks everyone for the input. Quad Saito 40s are on order......
  7. Having spares would be handy - where are you based?
  8. That's a fair point regarding noise, Percy, and certainly a strong argument for electric. But I still like engines....
  9. The whole purpose of the project is "just" to run a real 4-engined aeroplane. I guess it's sad but true that IC motors, especially smaller ones, are dinosaurs. Personally, all my vehicles are just containers/transport for the engines - I think electric is awesome for ducted fan applications, but a prop driven aircraft needs an engine. IMVHO. I don't think I've ever got rid of an engine - somewhere there's the merco 35 I had in my Super Trainer as a kid (and the Sprengbrook Sportsman 27Mhz RC) - and I've still got the scar from the 11 stitches in my finger it gave me. But it was start - I've just come in from the garage where I'm building a 9.1 litre motor at the moment.
  10. Thank you both. My confusion is that it says on the box 25-40 2-strokes and 26-40 4-strokes. And then, as Denis notes above, some other sites have it listed for up to a 70 4-stroke. I also managed to find a gentleman who has built & flown one - he had Saito 40's fitted and said performance was good. It's of course easy to put a bigger motor in, but the 52s add 0.62kg - 8% more weight to lug round. Shorter stroke also means less engine sticking out of the cowls! I'd better order the Saitos before they become NLA.
  11. I've got a kit to build of an Aerotech B-17 and am pondering power. I want to go with 4-strokes - but was debating whether 40 or 52's would be a better bet. Saito 40's are lighter and smaller, but ASP 52's are still available too. I'm debating whether 4x 52's would be overpowered and heavy or the Saito 40's would be a bit underpowered - does anyone have any thoughts/experience. Many thanks Matt
  12. I also have one. No chance of spares I think, & cox plugs don't fit either, different thread. You could maybe drill & tap the original head to fit a std plug (although could screw up the compression ratio easily). To be honest, I'd keep it as a nice display piece.
  13. Richard - regarding breather, am sure I saw an article in RCM&E years ago suggesting connecting an old film container to the breather as a "puke tank"
  14. I'm a member of a few other forums for my other hobbies too. Your comments about abuse are relevant, but frankly when you start a forum, you need to be around to police it. I wasn't a member of the BMFA forum, so mebbe I'm being unjust to em, but if they left it alone and didn't police it then things get carried away pretty quick. Sadly there are 2 main types of forum, and both aren't worth joining. Firstly is the forum as described above that's not worth providing any input. Second is your ultra serious anoraks forum. That's pretty dull stuff too - after all most forums are about hobbies - we spend too much time at work being Mr Serious. Forums are meant to be fun & humourous with a good bit of banter - and as long as they're publicised as such, people know what they're getting in to. People usually forget that there's another real person at the other end - always ask yerself if you would say it to the guy if you next to him at the flying field or the pub. And sometimes there's a kid who just insists he's got the best "thing" in the world. It's not a big deal to just ignor & walk away.
  15. Thanks Graham. It's brand new in the box, never been started - a touch pricey, but what the hell, I'm pleased with it.
  16. Got one! Should be arriving tomorrow. :)
  17. :o) I found one some time (year or so) back in southampton that was ex display and a bit beaten up, but they wanted really silly money for it. More realistically, have you seen these 3: http://www.rcairplane.net/index1.html
  18. Wanted - Kyosho Catalina. Does anyone have one taking up space in the garage/shed etc? Thanks Matt
