    Valve work

Another forum I frequent have suggested the use of a "torx" bit (appropriate size) forced into the allen bolt head. Sometimes a slight tap on the bolt head helps to loosen the thread.
  2. TalkTalk got hacked a few years back and since then we receive all sorts of scam calls and emails. Seems to come in spasms. . If it wasn't for TT being one of the cheapest I would swap.   P.S - Watch out for the card through the door saying there is an "urgent parcel" for you and to ring a number. On no account ring it.   Edited By John Wagg on 23/11/2019 11:11:04
  3. We used to just screw metal quick links straight onto the core as per something like these :- https://www.slecuk.com/control-fittings/m2-metal-quick-link?limit=100 There are various on the Slec website. https://www.slecuk.com/control-fittings?limit=100   Just seen these which may be better ?  https://www.slecuk.com/control-fittings/nipple-quick-link?limit=100       Edited By John Wagg on 21/11/2019 20:59:56 Edited By John Wagg on 21/11/2019 21:06:19
  4. I have had my Taranis for a few months now and quickly got used to it. The only thing you really need to know (and probably with other makes) is how to "bind" to the receivers. (not a problem on 27/35 meg's). Beyond that planes can be set as in the old days mechanically. No need to go into the programming but so much easier once you do. -- Ive now got 11 models programmed into the transmitter - just need some good weather to fly them. Regarding "Solarfilm" you can still buy from them until stocks run out but no idea when that will be ? So I would order anything you want now. Edited By John Wagg on 19/11/2019 16:35:34
  5. Posted by Peter Miller on 15/11/2019 20:44:51: Hi John I would suggest phoning George at 4-Max. He will give you great advice. **LINK** Thank you very much Peter. Will do. Cheers
  6. Sorry to sort of hijack the thread. What sort of size motor and battery would you expect to use. I have a Bill Burkinshaw RF4 plan RCM&E May 1997. It is an 88 inch span and recommended for a Laser 45. Would the same electrics do for this or could someone advise on an electric setup. I have all the wood, canopy and even the ribs cut out for it (been in the wardrobe since 87  just never got round tuit. FunFlyers postings have spurred me into having thoughts of actually building it. Watching the progress and thankyou. Still have the magazine.  Edited By John Wagg on 15/11/2019 19:41:11

About the number I have left working LoL. https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?2863122-A123-LiFe-performance-as-Receiver-Battery-Packs Just reading through the above post and not convinced yet. Seems a bit over-complicated just for a couple of hours flying. My usual max' flying time would be a couple of hours slope soaring or I.C. power flying at the field.

  9. Simon, I'm not sure about Life packs as to being able to trickle charge or fast charge properly. With the NimH's I can trickle charge with some impunity and get reasonable safety margins for flying. Always open to new ideas and education though. Just returning to RC and I am more used to ni-cads as being the staple source back in the 70s,80s & 90s.
  10. Noted Simon, Thanks. The Ni-Cad is from about 1994 and the Ni-mH is fairly new but got cooked on a fast charge, Might use the Ni-mH but not the Ni-cad. Currently (pun intended ) the Ni-cad does over 2 hours but not done a full test on the Ni-mH yet. Cheers
  11. Thanks guys. Yes I meant including servos. So my 200 mA would seem to be reasonable test. ? Getting abut 2 hours for each. One is an old 500mA Ni-Cad and the other a poorly 800mA Ni-mH. Cheers.
  12. I have a battery charger/discharger. Does anyone have an idea of what would be be be an average current draw for a receiver battery. I have a couple of batteries that I want to test but can only set a constant current draw. At the moment I have set 200 mA but is this enough to give a representative of battery life time ?
  13. My son bought me a FRsky Taranis TX/Rx for my birthday earlier this year. Very pleased with it but needed some getting used too with all it's computer related workings. Prompted me to resurrect my 30 year Monterey glider. Needed the tail repairing as it had parted company from the fuselage
